Morning Shift
Time Allotted: 3 Hours
Maximum Marks: 80

General Instructions:
The question paper consists of 39 questions in 5 sections.

All questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice is provided in some questions. A student is
expected to attempt only one of these questions.

Section A consists of 20 objective-type questions carrying 1 mark each.

Section B consists of 6 short answer questions, 2 marks each. Answers should be


in the range of 30 to 50 words.

Section C consists of 7 short answer questions, 3 marks each. Answers should be


in the range of 50 to 80 words.

Section D consists of 3 long answer type questions, carrying 5 marks each.


Answers should be in the range of 80 to 120 words.

Section E consists of 3 source-based/case-based questions of 4 marks each with


sub-parts.

concentration at this temperature.

to extinguish fire. Explain why.

29. Mention one function for each of the following: a) Tendons, b) Cartilage, c) Ligament.

30. Obtain a relationship for the distance travelled by an object moving with uniform acceleration in the
interval between the 4th and 5th seconds.

31. A body of mass 5 kg starts and rolls down 32m of an inclined plane in 4s. Find the force acting on the
body.

32. Why is endocytosis found in animals only?

33. Differentiate between elements and compounds (any 3 points).

34. A car acquires a velocity of 54 km/h in 10 seconds just after starting. It then takes 20 seconds to stop.
Find the ratio of acceleration and retardation.

A car travels at a speed of 40 km/hr for two hours and then at 60 km/hr for three hours. What is the
average speed of the car during the entire journey?

35. Differentiate between distance and displacement (any 2 points).


OR
An artificial satellite is moving in a circular orbit of radius 42,250 km. Calculate its speed if it takes 24 hours
to revolve around the Earth.

36. Give a reason for the following observations:


a) Naphthalene balls disappear with time without leaving any solid.
b) We can get the smell of perfume while sitting several meters away.
c) An iron almirah is a solid at room temperature.
d) Convert the following temperatures to the Kelvin scale: i) 25°C, ii) 373°C
