Ex1 – Table Structure
Objectives
Objectives for instructors:
● Teach students the fundamentals of data entry and formatting, keeping in mind the
skills they will need for quick, reliable, and efficient data analysis
● Explore the use of tables, particularly their effectiveness in formatting and presenting
data professionally
● Review essential Google Sheets formulas and prepare students for future
independent learning as they self-teach post-graduation
Exercise objectives for learners:
● Understand how to operate the fundamental functions of Google Sheets
Instructions
The Ex1 exercise reviews the fundamentals of Google Sheets. Each tab includes an
instruction box on what operations are required to complete the task.
Procedure
● From the desktop, launch Google Sheets.
● Open the Ex1 file, click on the file tab and save the document under “Ex1 - your
name.” Note the difference between xl and xls files, then save in the xls format.
● Display the document information section. Note the convert document function. The
convert function changes the format of the file. Each file has different aspects and
features, with its own advantages and disadvantages. Explain the differences
between versions of Google Sheets.
● In the same file menu, display the options menu. Look for the information specifying
that the file is PCIe (peripheral component interconnect express). Then, go to the
Registration section.
● Look through the auto-save options. Make sure that the file will automatically save
every 10 minutes.
● Click through the various sheets and follow the instructions.
