PROJECT: DATA HANDLING
This is a Mathematics Project on Data Handling.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. The project must be completed on folio and/or other A4-paper.
2. Due date: _________________ (you will be penalized for handing in late!)
3. This should be your own original work. Please try your best and make sure that you pay
attention to layout and presentation.
4. The Assessment rubric is the cover sheet of your task and should therefore be attached
to the front. Make sure that your name and class group is written on it.
5. Read the Assessment rubric carefully so that you know according to which criteria the
project will be assessed.

PROJECT: DATA HANDLING
Aim: Survey amongst class mates regarding a suitable topic.
Knowledge and skills: Complete a data cycle, in other words
Collect, organize, summarize, represent, interpret and report on data.
Material needed:
A4 folio and/or blank paper/graph paper
Class list
Pen, pencil, colour pencils, ruler, compass, protractor
Instructions:
Choose an interesting topic, e.g. Favourite TV-soapies, music, time spent, cell phone
trademarks, etc.
Develop a questionnaire for your class mates (ONE question is adequate, but you may
ask as many as you like. Give class mates at least FOUR choices, but not more than
SIX).
Collect the information (data) and indicate on a class list.
Draw up a frequency table to sum up the data.
Represent the data in two ways by using
o A bar graph
o A pie chart (Show clearly how you have calculated the sectors)
Make a summary of the conclusion you can make from your representations.
