Section – A (1 × 5 = 5 Marks)

1. Write the fraction for:


a) 3 shaded parts out of 8 equal parts.
b) 5 unshaded parts out of 12 equal parts. (1 + 1 = 2 marks)

2. Write two equivalent fractions of (2/3). (1 mark)

3. Arrange in ascending order: (3/4, 5/8, 7/12). (2 marks)

Section – B (2 × 5 = 10 Marks)

4. Reduce the following fractions to lowest form:


a) 24/36
b) 45/60 (2 marks)

5. Which is greater: (7/10) or (13/20)? (2 marks)

6. Express as a mixed fraction: (29/5). (2 marks)

7. Convert into like fractions and compare: (3/8, 5/12). (2 marks)

8. A bottle contains (2/5) litre of oil. Another bottle contains (1/2) litre of oil. Who has more oil and by
how much? (2 marks)

9. Simplify: (7/12 + 5/18). (3 marks)

10. Simplify: (11/15 – 4/25). (3 marks)


11. In a class of 40 students, (1/5) are absent. Find the number of students present. (3 marks)

12. Out of 1 hour, Reena studies for (2/5) of an hour and plays for (1/4) of an hour. How much time
does she spend in total? (3 marks)

13. A rope is 7 m long. If (3/7) of it is cut off, what length of rope is left? (3 marks)

16. A rectangular garden has an area of 1 whole. A flower bed covers (2/5) of the area and a lawn
covers (3/10) of the area.
- What fraction of the garden is still empty? (5 marks)

17. A jug is filled with (5/6) litre of milk. Out of this, Ramesh drinks (1/4) litre. How much milk is left?
