LESSON 3

1. What is the difference between recruitment and hiring?

Recruitment is about finding and attracting candidates. Recruiters look at job vacancies,
study what skills and experience are needed, and then search for people who match.
Sometimes they fill current openings, and sometimes they build a list of possible candidates
for future jobs while Hiring is about choosing and finalizing. Once recruiters gather a pool of
applicants, the hiring team reviews each candidate, decides who fits best, gives job offers,
and brings the new employee into the company.

2. What does development mean in human resource management?

The development in human resource management means helping the employees to prepare
and learn to perform better and make them ready for their future roles in there.

3. If you were to become an HRD head, what would you look for in a job applicant for a
position in the F & B department? Explain your reasons.

If I were to become an HRD head, I would look for an applicant in the F & B department who
is good in communicating and a positive attitude with people, flexible and know how to
work well with the team. All these qualities are important to provide the quality service and
make the customer satisfied.

4. Which part of the recruitment and selection process should the hiring manager/head
of a department play an active role? How and why?

The hiring manager or head of the department should be active in the screening and
evaluation stage of the recruitment and selection process. They can review applications,
check qualifications, and help decide which candidates move forward. This is important
because they understand the specific requirements of the job and can make sure the
applicants match the skills and attitude needed in the department.
