Subject: Advertisement for the posts of Readers (Direct quota)
(Gazetted) in the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
a) Date of Commencement for submission of online applications =03.05.2021
b) Last Date for submission of online applications = 25.05.2021
c) Last date for submission of online fee = 25.05.2021
Total Number of posts advertised = 04
Online applications are invited from the eligible candidates for
participating in the selection process for the posts of Reader as mentioned in
Annexure-"A" to this Notification who:
are domiciles of UT of Jammu and Kashmir in terms of S.O. 166 dated
18.05.2020 issued by GAD, Government of Jammu and Kashmir and
those who are residents of UT of Ladakh for a period of not less than
15 years before the date of applying and are actually residing in the
area.
ii. are having age as on 01.01.2021
i. Not below 18 years; and
ii. Not above:
a) 40 years in the case of Open Merit.
b) 43 years in case of SC/ST/RBA/ALC & IB/OSC/EWS/PSP
candidates
C) 42 years in the case of Physically Challenged candidates
d) 48 years in the case of Ex-servicemen
e) 40 years in the case of candidates in Government Service!
Contractual employees;
iii. are in possession of the prescribed academic/professional/technical
qualifications and fulfil all other eligibility conditions required as shown
in the Annexure-"A" by or before last date of submission of
application forms i.e., 25.05.2021.
iv. have deposited fees of Rs. 560/-
Note:
a. The number of vacancies may increase or decrease, depending on their
availability at the time of selection.
b. The reservation for various categories would be determined as per the
provisions of S.0. 127 dated 20.04.2020.
c. Applications along with the prescribed fee will be received only through
online mode on recruitment portal of the High Court of Jammu and
Kashmir link of which will be activated on 03.05.2021 on the website of
the High Court: httDs://[Link].

d. Submission of Application Form and fee payment shall not be
accepted/entertained after the cut-off date fixed for receipt of the same.
e. The printout of the application alongwith the fee payment receipt and
required copies of documents shall be kept ready to be submitted as and
when required.
f The in-service candidates/contractual employees shall submit photocopy
of the filled up online application form through proper channel viz, the
concerned Head of Department. In the event of failure of the candidate to
route the application through proper channel, his/her eligibility shall be
assessed as if he/she is not an in-service candidate. The Head of
Department concerned shall forward the application form of the in-service
candidates at the address of the Registrar General, High Court of J&K
within 15 days after the last date of filing their Application form.
g. The criteria and syllabus for the test for the selection to the post of
Reader is as per Annexure-"B" to this Notification.
h. The eligible candidates shall have to appear in the test on the date(s)
notified separately. No separate call letters shall be issued individually;
however, wide publicity shall be given through print and electronic media,
official website [Link] of the High Court about
the venues, dates of written test! interview for the information of eligible
candidates. No claim of being unaware of the dates/schedule for written
test/interview shall be entertained.
i. No TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates for test/interview.
j. Qualification acquired after the last date of submission of application shall
not be taken for consideration.
k. Before applying online, the candidates are advised to carefully go through
the guidelines for online submission of forms. These guidelines will be
available in the online portal of the High Court.

The criteria for making selection to the posts of Readers in
the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir under 75% direct recruitment
quota shall be as follows:
A) Written Test.
There shall be an objective type written test comprising of
85 questions, each question carrying one mark. The duration of the
written test shall be of 90 minutes. The written test shall comprise
questions on the following subjects:-
i. Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 10 questions;
ii. Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 10 questions;
iii. 3&K High Court Rules, 1999 03 questions;
iv. Writ Proceeding Rules, 1997 04 questions;
v. Letters Patent Rules 03 questions;
vi. Civil & Criminal Rules for Guidance
of Subordinate Courts 05 questions;
vii. The Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996 10 questions;
viii. The Limitation Act, 1963 10 questions;
ix. The Constitution of India 10 questions;
x. The 3&K Reorganization Act, 2019 10 questions;
xi. General Knowledge/Current Affairs 10 questions;
B) Interview/Viva-Voce.
There shall be viva-voce of 15 marks. The candidates will be
called for interview/viva-voce on merit on the basis of their
performance in the written examination in the ratio of 1:5.
