QUESTION ONE (30 MARKS)

Using any scripting language/environment; develop a web application for the following case
scenario.

CASE SCENARIO

Write a simple Payroll System for the Mukwano Industries to help the accountant calculate employees’
Salary. The system should allow a user to enter the employee’s basic pay through a text box, and perform
the necessary calculations.
i. Each employee gets a basic pay based on his/her rank and time he/she has served the
organization. On top of that employees get other allowances including;
ii. Each employee is required (as a must) to work overtime of 10 hours in a month. Overtime is
calculated at a rate of shs. 30, 000 for every extra hour worked.
iii. Gross pay is equal (Basic pay + Overtime + Housing Allowance + Transport Allowance +
Medical Allowance)
iv. Each employee gets Housing allowance of 08 % of his/her Gross Pay
v. Each employee gets Transport allowance of 05 % of his/her Gross Pay
vi. Each employee gets Medical Allowance of 06 % of his/her Gross Pay

Deductions

- NSSF (which is 15% of the Gross Pay)

- Pay As You Earn (PAYEE) tax. PAYEE is calculated as follows:


 Any employee earning salary less than shs. 200,000 does not pay tax.
 If you earn more than shs. 200,000 but less than shs.350,000 you are required to
pay tax of 10% on the difference between your gross pay and the 350,000.
 If you earn more than shs.350,000 but less than Shs. 500,000 you are required to
pay 20,000 plus 20% of the difference between your gross pay and shs. 350,000.
 If you earn more than shs.500,000 you will be required to pay shs.60,500 plus
30% of the difference between your gross pay and 500,000.
Net Pay
- Net pay = (Gross Pay – (total deductions, including advance))

Note: Total allowances = (Housing Allowance + Transport Allowance + Medical Allowance)
