Chapter 3
3.0Methodology
In executing a survey job,there is always the general principle to put into
consideration "principle of working from whole to part"It's also nessecary to
connect the transverse to the controller which reliability must be ascertained when
the check for angular and linear measurements of the controll point where carried
out.

3.3Reconnaissance
In any survey operation, reconnaissance must be carried out . Reconnaissance is the
taking of the general view of all picture of the area to be surveyed before any
type of survey is conducted.
Reconnaissance of survey is in two forms;
[Link] planning:the important of the office recce cannot be over emphasized
because of many cases office recce help the surveyor to guide him against some
problem which may come his way during field way.
[Link] planning: field planning entail the technique employed and considered
during the general view of the area to be surveyed.
The techniques include;
Few station were selected.
Station was located in a suitable and leveled ground.
The line was suitable for linear measurements.
Station was selected and position at all point,in such a way that every station is
visible from the adjacent station.
[Link] and making of station
In selecting the most suitable station points,the following steps were taken;
[Link] principle of working from whole to part was put into consideration.
[Link] were selected so that one can easily survey important details by means
of bearing and distance.
[Link] around station must be stable so as to prevent the instrument from
becoming unstable.
[Link] of station was put into consideration.
[Link] of sight should be free from natural obstruction.
[Link] station ground was selected in a way that will not cause damage to the
instrument.
3.5cutting of transverse line
Having located a point,the ranging pole were then aligned one at a both station and
one who was aligned in the middle and cutting followed immediately.
All obstacles on the survey line that obstruct visibility of the station were
removed.
