Question: Some people believe that technology is making people less sociable. Do you agree or
disagree with this statement?

Introduction:
In today's society, [paraphrase the question]. Some people believe that Įstate the statement
people are agreeing/disagreeing with], while others disagree with this idea. In this essay, I will
explain why I [agree/disagree] with this statement (…)and provide examples to support my
position.
In today's society, technology is an integral part of our daily lives. Some people believe that
technology is making people less sociable, while others disagree with this idea. In this essay, I
will explain why I disagree with the statement that technology is making people less sociable and
provide examples to support my position.
Body Paragraph 1
Firstly, [transition word/ phrase], [topic sentence]. This is because (give supporting idea).
[example/ evidence]. Moreover, [further explanation/ evidence]. Therefore, it is clear that
[restate the main point].

Firstly, technology has enabled people to connect with others on a global scale. This is because,
due to advent of internet and mobile phones, connecting online has become more widespread
irrespective of the location. For instance, social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and
Instagram provide people with the opportunity to connect with friends and family members who
live in different parts of the world. Moreover, video chat applications like Skype and Zoom allow
people to have face-to-face conversations with their loved ones, even when they are far away.
Therefore, it is true that technology is not making people less social-able.
Paragraph 2:
Additionally, [transition word/ phrase], [topic sentence]. [Explain the second reason for your
position]. An example of this can be seen in [example/ evidence]. Furthermore, [further
explanation/ evidence]. On the other hand, [transition word/ phrase], some people believe
that [counterargument]. However, [rebuttal to the counterargument]. As a result, [restate the
main point].
Additionally, technology can actually enhance social interactions by providing people with new
ways to connect with others. For example, video games and virtual reality environments allow
people to engage in social activities that would not be possible otherwise. Further, in these
environments, people can meet others with similar interests and engage in cooperative
activities. On the other hand, some people argue that technology is making people less sociable
because it encourages people to spend more time on their devices than interacting with others
in person. However, this argument is flawed because it assumes that all technology use is
isolating. In reality, people can use technology to facilitate face-to-face interactions. As a result,
technology can actually be a catalyst for socialization, rather than a barrier to it.
Conclusion
•In conclusion, while it is true that [acknowledge the counterarguments], the benefits of()\ for

In conclusion, while it is true that technology can be a distraction and cause people to spend less
time interacting with others in person, the benefits of technology for socialization far outweigh
the drawbacks. Therefore, I strongly disagree with the statement that technology is making
people less sociable and believe that technology can be a valuable tool for fostering social
connections.

Key components of introducing an argument in an IELTS Task 2 essay include paraphrasing the topic question, clearly stating the viewpoint being agreed or disagreed with, and previewing the main points to be discussed in support of this position .
