Chapter one: The world of elementals

In this world there exists extraordinary individuals called elementals who have
powers far beyond our understanding there are 12 different types of elementals
whose abilities vary from animals to stone the elementals are divided into 3
categories support, offensive and forbidden the last one being the most dangerous
and dark elements.

Between the support their are

Plant elementals who can control any kind of foliage and defend this is one of the
elements that’s being debated to change to offensive but since it can’t really
attack it’s still being debated. Also plants grow at an accelerated rate around
them.

Life elementals are healers they heal by using the body’s energy to weave wounds
and speed up healing and these elementals have a harder time getting sick

Technology elementals these elementals have the ability to assimilate metal and
other materials to create machinery this one is also on the brink of changing to
the offensive category. These elementals are almost always smarter than the others.

Light elementals who are usually taught to use their light to create shields and
armor but can use it for offense. These elementals shine in the darkness and can
heal corruption caused by the dark element.

Then there are the offensive elements the ones that usually fight.

Stone elementals these elementals are the most common and they have the ability to
control any type of stone based material but when they attack a line is drawn on
the ground that acts like a warning for when they attack. Some members of these
elementals can sense movements from the ground.

Lightning elementals they have the ability to generate and control electricity tho
it’s very hard to control. They also have the ability to boost their movements with
the electricity but not many can achieve this.

Water elementals have the ability to control all types of water be it rain or ice
they can control it. And they can swim faster than most and manipulate the water to
make constructs.

Animal elementals have the ability to transform into animals and usually have
animal like traits like wolf ears goat horns or even a tail.

Then there are the forbidden elements these were taken out and we’re erased from
history but who knows…

Fear elementals have the ability to instill fear into people through their voice
tho they were weak physically so they could have been taken out.

Darkness elementals have the ability to control darkness and corrupt people the
only way to defeat them is with light and another element. These were taken out
because of their ability to corrupt people but many light elementals died that day
making their element endangered to near extinction.

Time elementals have the ability to control time in small bursts and they were
destroyed for this ability and since they were pacifist they weren’t prepared for
this. The government made sure there were none but maybe there are more somewhere.
And the one everyone wants to forget their existence hid by the government for
their crimes.

Fire elementals they have the power to generate fire and control it but they were
especially powerful since their fire could be boosted by their anger but it can
also consume them. Most fire elementals died because they were consumed by their
anger and they say that their extinguished and that their are none but I’m not so
sure yet.

Chapter two: Ordinary guy

In a city we find a boy with black hair blue eyes and a lighter skin tone running
away from a store owner with a bag of food and the store owner yells:

-YOU SCOUNDREL GET BACK HERE-

But the boy can’t hear him as he’s running for the sewer and he manages to escape
and says under his breath -I can’t keep living like this- while looking down at the
stuff he stole some bread and water he feels conflicted about what he’s doing but
he can’t stop. He needs to survive and for now that’s all that matters

While he’s eating he utters - good thing I could find that store -

Later that day he sees on the wall a wanted poster that says:

Rowan WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE

Rowan sighs and says under his breath - I’m sorry just trying to survive in this
world-

Rowan has always been looking for his place in the world he’s been an orphan since
he was five so he doesn’t know how to take care of anything or anyone but himself
and that isn’t because he’s selfish it’s because he was never taught how to take
care of others

He moves quickly and through the shadows were he finds a black haired girl with a
darker skin tone a leather jacket and some jeans being annoyed by some guys she
seems to have wolf ears and a tail and Rowan can’t let it slide so he goes to them
and says:

⁃ Hey sweetheart I’m sorry it took so long for me to get here- says Rowan
⁃ and who are you supposed to be she’s ours- says the first thug

Rowan answers truthfully- I’m just a guy who knows when to act-

The second thug says - hey guys why don’t we get rid of him -

The third thug says - yeah that would be nice-

The second thug moves to try and throw a punch at Rowan but he dodges and hits him
in the gut with his knee then the first thug takes out a knife and tries to slash
at Rowan but Rowan disarms him then grabs his arm and throws him into a wall then
he turns around to see that the third thug has a gun and is pointing it at the girl
and he warns Rowan by saying.

⁃ One more step and the girl gets it -

But the girl doesn’t seem scared she seems bored so she says - can I go now - and
just lifts her leg up and hits the thug in the nuts and the thug faints while Rowan
is in awe.

Then the girl says - could’ve handled it but either way thanks - she gives him a
shy smile

And Rowan answers - no problem - while breaking into a laugh

Then the girl says - my names Faela and if you want to cause trouble I’m your girl-

Rowan says - My name is Rowan and may I say those moves were cool -

Faela ask him - what is a good looking guy doing in an alley like this-

And Rowan blushes but hides it

Then Rowan answers - I’m an just an ordinary guy who hates seeing girls like you
get annoyed -

Faela blushes but it’s not noticeable

Rowan ask her - where are your parents?-

Falea answered - I don’t have parents I lost them in a car crash -

Rowan says - oh I’m so sorry for what I said-

Faela laughs and says - it’s okay you didn’t know it’s not like I have a shirt
saying I’m an orphan-
- but I am with some friends I’m sure they’d be happy to meet the cute guy who
defended me also where are your parents?-

Rowan shifts and says - oh their probably looking for me-

- also don’t mean to be rude but what’s up with the ears and tail-

Faela answers while pointing at her ears - oh these I’ve had them all my life I’m
an animal elemental -

Rowan ask - sorry could you explain what an elemental is I don’t know-

Faela says - basically an elemental can control a certain aspect or can alter
themselves like me -
- also why did you lie when I asked you about your parents -

Rowen tells her - haha what are you talking about-

Faela not amused says - I can sense when someone’s lying your an orphan aren’t you-

Rowan sighs and says - Okay you got me but don’t you think your friends might be
worried-

Faela laughs and says - oh they can wait I just made a new friend who they’ll
probably like to meet -

Rowan confused ask - who did you befriend-

Faela giggles and says - You dummy where friends right-

Rowan answers- you might not want to be friends with me I’m wanted for robbery-
Faela says while smiling - another delinquent! You’ll fit right in with everyone-

Rowan confused ask - wait you’re also a criminal-

Faela answers - I’ve only ever committed smaller crimes but yes-

Rowan while pointing at the thug she kicked - should we take this convo somewhere
else before he or one of his friends wakes up -

Faela says - yeah I’ll take you to my other friends-

Chapter three: meeting the scouts

They travel to a lavish looking apartment and Rowan gets nervous but he’s also
excited since he’s never been so close to such a luxurious place.

Faela notices that he’s nervous and says - don’t worry their gonna love you -

Rowan answers - sorry I’m just worried that they’ll not like me since I’m a
delinquent-

They arrive at a door and Faela opens and there are five people two girls three
boys. The first girl is a brunette white skinned girl practically glued to her
phone doing what seems to be research. The second girl is blonde and white skinned
and seems to be practicing to craft armor with light. One of the guys has brown
hair and has brown skin and seems calm and collected reading a book about
agriculture . The second guy is quite tall and light skinned with dark brown hair
and he’s cooking. And the last guy is quite short with white hair and seems to be
researching illnesses.

Once Faela and Rowan enter everyone turns their attention to them and they look
curiously at Rowan

The guy with the book about agriculture is the first to speak up
- who did you bring Faela -

Faela spoke up - hey everyone this is Rowan some thugs tried to steal my stuff so
he beat two of them up and we continued to speak and I found out he’s also a
delinquent-

Then Faela proceeds to say everyone’s name - the girl that is glued to her phone is
Lilac she’s a technology elemental if you need information about anything she’s
your girl-
Lilac waves and says - nice to meet you Rowan- she also takes a strand of hair
while he isn’t looking.

⁃ the one that’s cooking is Kiyamito even if he seems like he doesn’t

like speaking he actually loves making friends-
Kiyamito speaks up in a friendly tone - hey Rowan nice to meet you if you’re
feeling hungry don’t be afraid to ask-

⁃ the guy reading a book about agriculture is Rama he’s very nice and
loves agriculture-
Rama asks Rowan - do you like agriculture-

Rowan answers - I’ve been on the run my whole life I couldn’t say -
 ⁃ the girl practicing light constructs is Nika she’s the party pooper of
our team-
Nika speaks up - I’m not a party pooper you’re just reckless and nice to meet you
Rowan hope you’re better than Faela- this earns a glare from Faela

⁃ and last but not least the short one is Cypher he’s the doc of the
group if you need healing or just a listening ear he’s your guy-
Cypher says - nice to meet you Rowan and as Faela said if you need healing or
therapy you can come to me-

Once everyone was introduced Kamiyito said - it’s time for dinner Rowan come on eat
something-

Rowan nervously says - no thanks I don’t want to be a bother-

This behavior immediately set off warnings in every one’s mind does he not eat.

Cypher ask - hey Rowan when was the last time you ate and don’t lie we have Faela
to tell us if you lie-

Rowan nervously answered - I think last week-

This immediately told everyone the answer that they didn’t want. This boy is
extremely malnourished.

Kamiyito says - there is more than enough food to go around your no bother also
this is too much food for all of us-
Nika says - Come on so I can tell you embarrassing stories about our group-

After an hour of eating and talking it’s time to go to bed.

Rowan said- I think I should leave now-

But none of them are planning on letting him go

Lilac said - you should stay it’s quite late -

Cypher agrees - yeah you won’t be able to guide yourself-

Rowan nervously says - but I don’t want to be a burden to anyone-

This hurt everyone but just improves their strive for getting him to stay.

Lilac said - listen here and listen well you are no burden you are no inconvenience
and you are NOT useless -

Nika follows up - even if we’ve only known you for a night we know what kind of
person you are and you are great so please stay-

These words were followed by everyone agreeing

Now it’s night time and while Rowan is resting the rest hear something small blow
up but when they look it’s Lilacs machine she made to detect elements.

Cypher asked - what the heck happened to your machine-

Lilac wide eyed said - when I put Rowan’s hair it broke down after giving me his
health and it’s worse than we thought but I have no idea what caused it to explode-
Faela said - wait backtrack what do you mean worse-

Then Lilac said - well the readings say that his body hasn’t rested in seven days
and he doesn’t have enough of any vitamin but vitamin D-

This revelation was heart breaking for everyone who even if they had known him for
one night they already knew that they were family.

Then lilac said while holding the vail with Rowan’s hair - but maybe the one at the
academy I could analyze it there-

Rama said - well we can at least go back since we know we’ve found an elemental -

Kamiyito - yeah while we did meet Rowan thanks to this mission I still hate that to
get our scouts license we needed to be out here for three months-

Nika argued - our mission was to find an elemental so it was mostly up to luck-

Rama said - by the way Faela what crimes did he commit-

Faela answered - oh on our way here he told me his biggest crime was arson -

Lilac said - oh yeah I can relate-

Cypher said - well we should go to sleep now because we need to fill Rowan in on
the academy-

Everyone agreed and fell asleep

Chapter four: The legend of the Elemental Enclave

It was morning and everyone was doing their usual task Cypher was reading medical
book, kamiyito was looking at his phone for a brownie recipe, Nika was practicing
her light constructs, Lilac was trying to fix her machine that blew up, Sylven was
reading about Venus fly traps, and Faela was talking to Rowan when Rowan said
- I should probably leave it’s daytime and I’ve already taken enough of your time-

This caught everyone off guard, Cypher and Rama immediately looked up from their
respective books, Kamiyito accidentally dropped his phone on his foot but didn’t
realize, Nika’s light constructs disappeared,
Lilac looked up from her broken machine, and Faela’s eye’s widened.

Faela was the first to speak up - NO you are not stealing any time from us -

Kamiyito while picking up his phone said - even if we’ve only been talking for a
night you have already become family-

Cypher added - also your life could be changed for the better if you continue with
us -

Rowan tearing up but trying to hide it said - but how I’m a wanted man I don’t have
parents-

Lilac in a calm voice said - but you have us -

Rama added - and we come from an the enclave of the elements it’s a school that
teaches you how to harness your elements and you have an element-
Rowan unable to hold his tears starts crying and said - thank you thank you thank
you- he just continued saying the same thing.

After he stopped crying he helped pack up whatever was left in the house.

Faela said - well are you ready because once we get there their is no turning back-

Rowan answered - ready as I’ll ever be -

Chapter five: the road to the Enclave

The scouts plus Rowan decided that they were going to take it on foot until they
get there starting on the edge of the city where the forest was over them. After an
entire day of walking they found themselves very tired so they decided to camp out
for the night.

Cypher asked - okay who can get the wood for a campfire-

Rowan raises his hand and says - I will -

Sylven also raises his hand - I’ll go too-

They both go together and grab sticks then Sylven ask - hey Rowan when are you
going to confess to Faela-

This catches Rowan off guard and he trips and once he stands up he exclaims - what
do you mean I don’t like her I - I mean she’s a good friend but I don’t like her
like that!!!-

Sylven chuckles and says- don’t worry you’re secret is safe with me-

Once they get back to the camp Rowan notices that Faela is blushing and wonders
why.

Flashback to 10 minutes ago in camp

Lilac asked Faela - hey Faela when are you going to confess-

Faela answered - huh confess for what -

Lilac replied - your love for Rowan it’s clearly noticeable -

Faela blushes and yells - I don’t like him I I I me mean he’s nice and kind but I
don’t like him that much-

Everyone just looks at her with a mischievous grin

Faela while blushing says - I hate you guys-

Back in the present they light up the campfire and proceed to go to sleep. But
Rowan has a feeling about tomorrow.

Chapter six: the Emberclad scabbard

After a few days of walking the scouts and Rowan end up in the entrance to a cave
where cypher explains that here the elements are in harmony and we might find out
your element so Rowan is nervous since he doesn’t know.
while their walking through the cave they suddenly feel a small quake and a hole
opens under Rowan and before he falls Lilac manages to grab his hand and yells -
Rowan hold on I’ve got you - then everyone else grabs Lilac’s leg before they fall
but Sylven has a hard time holding on and his grip slips everyone yells - NO LILAC
ROWAN -

But Lilac and Rowen couldn’t hear them, as they were falling Rowan put his arms
around Lilac to protect her and they end up falling onto a natural slide and arrive
at the bottom safely.

Rowan ask - where are we -

Lilac responds - I don’t know but I think we’re in the deepest part of the cave
where should we go-

Then Rowan hears some voices calling out for him

- find us and we’ll give you the power -

Rowan says - I don’t know but I hear something calling me -

Lilac says - ok then let’s go it’s not like we can get even deeper-

They walk for about 10 minutes and they can see from the corner a light so they go
to it to see a pedestal with what seems to be a red scabbard with a black dragon
and a white dragon flying around it.

Rowan feels strange as if it was calling to him so he reached out to the scabbard
then he heard it’s voice say - I am the Emberclad scabbard and I have the ability
to store any an all weapons I’m only handed to those with the element of fire -

Lilac ask - hey Rowan you okay you froze there -

Rowan answered - yeah but I figured out my element is fire this is the Emberclad
scabbard and she will teach me how to control my fire -

Lilac eyes widen - wow this is monumental-

Rowan ask - do you know any other elemental of fire -

Lilac says - that’s why it’s monumental there has never been an elemental of fire-

Rowan’s eyes gleam and he says - so cool - he accidentally lights his hand on fire
and proceeds to get scared and try to shake his arm but he slowly realizes he isn’t
being burned.

Lilac says - maybe your immune to fire and if so keep it on I didn’t want to worry
you but I’m scared of the dark- she then proceeds to hide behind him

While their walking through the cave with Rowan at the front lighting the way and
Lilac behind him when some bats fly through and Lilac yells and faints from fear
and Rowan says - man she wasn’t kidding when she said she was scared of the dark -
so he puts her on his back and continues walking

Once she wakes up and realizes that she’s on his back she ask - hey how long have
I been out -

Rowan replies - about an hour give or take-

Lilac says - sorry I’ll get off your back-

Rowan stops her and tells her - no stay there your also tired and either way we’re
almost out-

Lilac just grabs on to him and says - hey mind if I call you brother I’ve never had
one just some overbearing sisters -

This shocks Rowan and he says - of course sis -

Once they reach the exit they see another exit so they decide to sit down and wait
for the others.

Once the others exit the cave their attention turns to Rowan and Lilac talking and
they immediately rush to them

Faela exclaims - Your alive thank goodness- and she tackles Rowan

Cypher says - Lilac Rowan your okay what happened-

Lilac answers - we fell into a slide that brought us to a pedestal and with a
magical sheath that awoke Rowan’s fire powers

Rowan stands up with Faela still clinging onto him and lights his hand on fire

Kamiyito says - well that happened but I’m more glad that you’re okay-

Sylven says - I’m so sorry for letting you go-

Lilac says - no worries if you didn’t let go we wouldn’t have found the Emberclad
scabbard-

Cypher says - hey everyone Rowan has been awfully quiet-

They all turn to see him blushing while being hugged by Faela

Nika says - hey Faela let go so he can speak-

Faela lets him go and says - sorry I got worried-

Rowan still blushing says - it’s okay you were worried-

He then proceeds to show them his sheath - her name is the Emberclad scabbard she
will teach me how to harness my fire -

Lilac says - well we should probably get going brother-

Everyone yells - BROTHER!!!!-

Rowan says - yeah we made an agreement since she’s never had a brother-

Nika tugs his sleeve - could you be my brother too my only brother is very bad he
doesn’t like me -

This hit Rowan directly in the heart and he said - of course sis -

They finally arrived at the Enclave of elements when Cypher asks Rowan - are you
ready-

And Rowan smiles and says - ready to start a new life

Chapter seven: Meeting Isolde

When they enter the scouts are greeted by their friends and everyone else is
greeting Rowan until a lady with long dark green hair and brown skin and she’s
wearing a white jacket

She ask while looking at Rowan - who is this scouts-

And the scouts walk in front of her and Cypher says

- his name is Rowan and he’s an elemental like us -

She ask - what kind of elemental? -

Faela says - that’s just the thing he’s an elemental of fire the only of his kind -

She looks at Rowan and ask - my name is Isolde Dray if you could show me these so
called fire powers-

Rowan nervously says - okay give me a second- and he lights his hand on fire and
Ember reacts to his powers

Isolde notices that ember reacted and ask - what’s that scabbard-

Rowan says - she’s the Emberclad scabbard or ember and she’s going to teach me how
to use my powers but she said I need a sword first-

Isolde’s curiosity is sky high but she composes herself and says - well this is a
first a kid with fire powers and a magic scabbard-

Then she realized that she has a problem - where would I put you if you join the
Enclave -

Rowan says - you mean when right-

This earned a chuckle from Isolde shocking everyone since she’s known for being the
most strict principal in history

Isolde says - okay you should go to with the animal elementals they love new people
and it seems like you already became friends with one -

Rowan says - thank you for this -

Isolde chuckles and says - no problem you’ll get special training since we’ve never
had a fire elemental you’ll be with me and the master of torrents to make sure you
don’t burn down the enclave -

Chapter eight: The Cinderheart

So once Isolde leaves Nika takes Rowan to the armory to get a weapon and ember says
- I can sense other elemental weapons take me to them -

Rowan says - hey Nika could I go find something since ember is telling me-

And Nika answers- sure lead the way -

Once they arrive to a closet that is out of the way and Rowan opens it and finds
two swords one is a golden sword with a shiny white gem on the hilt shining and
pushing away the darkness and the other is a red blade with a black hilt is
consuming the darkness then Rowan hears ember talking - the one on the left is the
Luxblade or Lux he can temporarily emit a blinding light and can fire beams of
light that can slice through darkness and corrupted entities and the one on the
right is the Cinderheart or cinder she can teach you more about precision than I
can and you can also concentrate your fire into a beam that looks like a blade-

this shocked Rowan and he stepped forward grabbing both swords and then he could
hear Lux saying - hello young man my name is Lux and I ca-

Then ember interrupted him and said - I already explained your ability so just find
a wielder the same goes for you cinder -

then cinder spoke up in a shy voice and said - sorry to ask but could we share
wielder’s since I can’t sense anyone else-

And Lux says -I’ll bond with the lady behind your wielder I can sense she’s got
everything I’m looking for in a wielder -

Then ember said -sure cinder but you have to teach Rowan about precision -

Then cinder yelled - DEAL oh um I mean sure-

Then Rowan turned around to face Nika and he held out Lux and said - this weapon
wants to bond with you his name is Lux -

Nika reached out and grabbed Lux and then heard - AHH YOUR IMPOSSIBLE EMBER -

Then ember replied - THATS BECAUSE YOU DONT LIKE MY PERSONALITY SO STAY AWAY WITH
YOUR WEILDER-

Then Nika heard cinder’s shy voice - hey guys lets talk this out -

while their still arguing Nika asks Rowan - do I need to get used to this-

Rowan puts cinder into his scabbard and said

- yeah good luck your gonna need it-

Nika then heard a bell and said- oh it’s time for lunch we should head to the
lunchroom-

Then they both heard Rowan stomach rumble and Nika says - well I guess I don’t need
to ask if you’re hungry- and walks away laughing with Rowan right behind her.

Chapter nine: Lunch time and future family

Once Nika and Rowan arrived at the lunchroom a massive room with tables and symbols
above each table that have the depictions of an element.

Nika and Rowan line up to get food and while their waiting Rowan decides to ask -
hey Nika why are there symbols above each table -

Nika looks up to see the symbols and says - every element is divided into different
tables but that doesn’t mean that you can’t sit with other elements it’s so that
new students know where they can go to find family-

Rowan then said -ohhhh ok quick follow up question were would I sit to be with my
element -

Nika chuckles and says - well I’m pretty sure you would find a place in most tables
since you have friends in many of them but if you had to choose it would probably
be the animal table since your going to live with them-

Rowan then says - so I’m living with Faela and talking about them what do you think
their doing-

Nika says - what worried about your girlfriend-

Rowan blushing says - she’s not my girlfriend-

Nika laughs and says - sure anyway where here for food not to talk about your love
life -

They step forward and Rowan sees a machine that seems to be scanning the other
students and giving them a plate of food

Nika sees Rowan’s confused face and says - oh yeah that machine was created for the
sole purpose of learning your favorite food and giving it to you, it was created by
the master of technology-

Then Nika steps up and the machine scans her and gives her some bacon and eggs and
Nika grabs it and moves to wait for Rowan

Then Rowan steps up nervously and the machine scans him but it doesn’t work so it
scans him again and again but it still doesn’t work so Nika steps closer and
notices that it isn’t able to scan him so she ask
- what’s wrong with it -

Before she can get any closer a black haired dark skinned man with glasses and a
white robe comes from the back room and steps closer to the machine that’s still
trying to scan Rowan and he mumbles -what is wrong with you you’ve never done this
before-

He then proceeds to open a panel and check some wires then he says -there’s
nothing wrong with it-

Then Rowan apologizes and the man says -no worries kid you didn’t break anything I
think it might be because of your element we’ve never had a fire elemental maybe it
doesn’t know what to scan-

Then Rowan says - oh that makes sense but what do I do now -

Nika steps up and the machine scans her and it gives her pizza then she grabs it
and hands it to Rowan and says - guess I’ll order for you until Mr Damocles
discovers what’s wrong-

They then proceed to go together until Rowan says - thanks for that but I think I’m
going to go to the animal elementals I want to meet my future roommates-

Nika answers -ok you should look for Faela -

Then they wave each other goodbye and Rowan heads to the animal table and spots
Faela waving him over so he heads over to her and she suddenly blushes and when he
arrives he notices a guy who’s a bit taller than Faela and he says -hello you must
be my sisters friend she talks a lot about you-
Rowan the says -yeah Faela is a great friend are you related to her cause you look
a lot like her-

Then the guy says -yeah my names Yasei I’m her younger brother come on sit-

Then Rowan sits down with Yasei and Faela and Rowan is eating peacefully until a
guy with a snake tail hits Rowan in the back of the head and Rowan turns to face
him and Faela says
- not again Coren you have to stop with this childish nonsense-

Coren replies -I’m not going to let any weakling join this family so unless he
proves himself he can’t enter the dorms-

Faela while growling says -your not the person who decides who can sleep in the
dorms that is Coren-

Coren grins and says -I don’t care he has to prove that he’s strong enough-

While Faela and Coren are arguing Mr Damocles accidentally sneaks up on Rowan and
ask him -what the heck is happening-

This causes Rowan to jump and say - when did you get here!-

After that Rowan tells Mr Damocles - well there arguing because he has a
superiority complex and wants me to prove myself or he won’t allow me into the
dorms-

Mr Damocles raises his eyebrow and says -really now-

Mr Damocles steps up behind Coren and Coren shivers and turns around to meet Mr
Damocles eyes and he says -hey Coren you aren’t the one who decides who can and can
not enter the dorms so sit down and eat your lunch-

Afterwards Coren leaves, and Rowan sits down along with Faela and they finish
eating so Faela says - come on I’ll take you to your dorm room-

And while he’s resting his head on the table Yasei says -pretty sure your with me
dude-

So all three of them leave the cafeteria.

Chapter ten: new room and the Enclave system

Once the trio arrive at the entrance to the animal dorm Rowan gets slightly
intimidated by the animal skulls and the noice that’s coming from inside the room
and Faela notices and reassures him -you’ll be fine they are all nice people except
maybe Coren but he can’t say a word he’s on watch for something he did-

When they enter Rowan is surprised to see someone on a tight rope balancing a plate
on a stick with the tentacles on there head and people cheering for her and Faela
tells him -that’s our boss or leader but she doesn’t like to be called boss she’s
chill if you don’t annoy her-

Then the lady on the string looks at Rowan and jumps off the rope and lands in
front of Rowan with the plate still on her head and she says - Hello you must be
Rowan I’m Selkie Nautillis and I’m technically you’re dorm leader but just call me
Selkie-
Rowan then said -Hello yes I’m Rowan, should I know anything about the dorms like
rules-

Selkie smiles and says -nope there are no rules just don’t kill anyone oh and sorry
for Coren I heard what he did-

Then Selkie grabs Rowan’s shoulder and turns him to everyone behind her and loudly
says -Everyone this is Rowan and he’ll be staying with us so I don’t want to hear
any complaints since from now on he is family-

Then Rowan is bombarded by questions like what’s you’re favorite food, how old are
you and what’s you’re element

And he answers the questions calmly - well my favorite collor is blue I’m 14 years
old and-

Then he’s cut off by Selkie who says - that’s the reason he has to stay with us
he’s the first ever fire elemental-

This shocks everyone and they say stuff like -wow so cool- and -could you show us-

So Selkie gets a mischievous grin and says -clear the area where having a sparing
match-

And everyone starts moving the furniture and clearing an area

Rowan surprised said - are you sure I don’t think I’m any good in a fight let alone
with someone who has trained-

Selkie smiles and says -I know but Faela told me that you singlehandedly defeated
two thugs so I think you can stand up to me-

Rowan smiles and says - well if I’m fighting you I can know how much I need to grow
because after this I will make it my mission to defeat you in a sparring match-

Selkie laughs and says -that’s the spirit also avoid using your elemental weapon
since we don’t want to hurt anyone-

Rowan gives Ember and Cinder to Faela and she says -good luck-

After the rest of the dorm cleared the room Rowan stood on one side of the
designated square for sparring and Selkie stood at the other side and they were
both in fighting position and Yasei is in between them and says -this battle is
only a sparring match so no maiming, injuring, or killing do both fighters agree to
the conditions-

They both nod and Selkie does the first move and stretches her head tentacles to
try and hit Rowan but he dodges her tentacles and try’s to close the distance to
hit her but every time he tries to close the distance her tentacles hit him and
when he concentrates on the tentacles Selkie moves away and he grows tired of the
cat and mouse so he activates his fire and punches one of the tentacles and to
everyone’s confusion the tentacles he punches don’t go back to Selkie like normal
but when they get back they disappear and then brown hair appears in its place and
Rowan gets confused but he can’t focus on that and he manages to close the distance
and punch Selkie in her gut but when he does her powers seem to disappear and out
of the corner of his eye he thinks he saw three people behind a door but when he
looks over there is no door there just a wall but he can’t worry about that so he
looks back at Selkie and notices that once she gotknocked out her tentacles
returned and Yasei says -Selkie is unable to fight Rowan is the winner of this
match-

After a while Selkie wakes up and ask -what happened- and she realizes that Rowan
beat her and she looks around to find him and she sees him behind her and she ask
Rowan -how did you disable my powers-

And Rowan says -I don’t know I’m so sorry-

But Selkie isn’t angry but surprised and she says -no need to be sorry for that it
was a battle and now we know that fire can temporarily disable elements-

Then Faela steps up to Rowan and says -that was amazing you beat a Battlewright
elemental on your first match-

Rowan tilts his head and ask -what’s a Battlewright Elemental-

Yasei explains - a Battlewright Elemental is the highest rank in the Enclave and if
you beat one you get something called an Enclave Emblem and they make you go higher
in the Battlewright ranking-

Then Rowan says -so not only did I beat a Battlewright not only did we discover
that I can disable but I also became a Battlewright Elemental wait but I can refuse
right since I don’t want ms Selkie to lose her position-

Selkie tells him -No I won’t lose my spot since your element is new Isolde told the
Battlewright’s that if you become one you will be the Battlewright Elemental for
fire- then she stands up and says - congratulations Battlewright of Ashstorm and
she hands him a silver emblem with a claw on one side and wings on the other and
stop calling me ms I don’t like it-

Then Selkie says -well everyone today has been amazing and everyone has had a lot
of excitement but I think it’s time to sleep because I’m tired hey Yasei do you
think you could take Rowan since you don’t have a roommate-

Yasei’s ears perk up and he says -yes I will take him with me Rowan follow me-

Rowan follows Yasei to a door and Yasei opens the door and the room seems cozy with
two full size beds and a small kitchen and Yasei says - yeah for dinner Isolde
wanted the students to learn to make basic food in case they ever have to live
somewhere else you hungry I could go for a piece of meat-

Rowan’s stomach rumbles and he says -sure but mind if I add some vegetables and
other things to the food-

Yasei says -yeah sure I’ll help you-

Then they go over to the small kitchen and Yasei pulls out a big pot and he says -
hey with those ingredients we can make a hotpot-

Rowan confused ask -what’s a “hotpot”-

And Yasei explains -okay so you boil broth and you heat the raw ingredients
yourself and it’s delicious-

Rowan drools at the thought and says -that sounds delicious but what should we use-

Yasei started listing off some ingredients - well we could use pork and fish for
proteins, we could use carrots for vegetables, and dumplings for carbs but we
should invite Faela she loves hotpot-
And Rowan agrees -you go look for her and I’ll start cutting vegetables for you and
I’ll cut the pork into pieces-

After that Yasei leaves to go find Faela when he knocks on her door it takes a
moment before she opens and ask -what’s up Yasei-

Yasei says - well me and you’re boyfriend are going to make a hotpot and we wanted
to know if you want any-

Faela says -oh sure I’ll help-

Yasei smirks and ask -wow are you already considering him you’re boyfriend-

Faela blushes and says - you tricked me and please we talked about this during
lunch-

Yasei walks away and says -yeah yeah I know you like him-

Faela then starts walking with Yasei and they encounter Selkie and she ask - hey
Yasei how is Rowan doing with you-

Yasei smiles and says -great we were about to make a hotpot-

Selkie starts to drool and ask - can I have some-

Yasei says - sure the more people there are the less food we’ll waste and I’m sure
Rowan will love it if you eat with us-

When they arrive at Rowan and Yasei’s room they open the door and see food lined up
in slices in order first pork then fish then the vegetables and lastly some
dumplings the only thing missing is the broth

So they ask Rowan if he made all of this and he says -well I cut the ingredients
but Cinder had to guide me on how to make the dumplings-

So Yasei says -well since you’ve already made all of the food I’ll make the broth
also how spicy would you like it-

The other two don’t care but Rowan says -as spicy as you can make it-

Yasei says - ok-

After around 30 minutes Yasei comes out with a large pot full of broth and sets it
on the table and says -dig in but be careful it’s very spicy-

Then Rowan starts eating out of everything and he says - I love it it’s so good and
the spice is so much-

Faela says - I agree with him-

Selkie says - yes but am I the only one who’s mouth is burning-

Faela and Selkie both look at Yasei and ask him how much spice did he use and he
says -I used multiple ghost peppers like 13-

This shocks Faela and she ask Rowan who’s still eating -how is your mouth not
burning-
Rowan swallows the dumpling he ate and says -I think my fire element gives me a
natural resistance to spicy food-

Selkie nods and says -that makes sense-

After they finish the hotpot they are stuffed and Selkie says - well I should get
going have to tell Isolde what happened and you should go to sleep soon- and she
leaves the room

Then Faela says - I need to get back to my dorm and sleep I’ll see you tomorrow-
and she leaves the room closing the door behind her

Yasei says - yeah there correct we should sleep-

So they both go over to there beds and Rowan realizes that he’s found more family
and that now he’s never going to be alone again and he quietly drifts into sleep.

Chapter eleven: The Flameborn Uniform

The next day Rowan wakes up and notices that Yasei is making pancakes and bacon so
he sits up and says - good morning Yasei do you need help-

Yasei looks up from the pancakes and says - no I’m fine and I’m almost done so sit
down and wait for me to finish-

Rowan proceeds to sit down and eat his breakfast and he changes into his uniform a
white jacket with a black t shirt with a claw symbol in the middle but he notices
that it’s a bit too small and he says - I’ll have to ask Isolde if she can get me a
bigger one - and he buttons his jacket and leaves his room and he notices that the
room is full of life people talking and some on the table playing dominoes and
another table playing with a knife and he’s throwing it at a target and he sees
Selkie so he goes over to her and she says - good I was looking for you I need you
to follow me since I’d rather not have to tell Isolde then come looking for you so
could you follow me

Rowan then says - sure I’ll go with I don’t have classes til next month-

So together they leave heading towards the principals office were the walls are
white and there is a massive window and in the middle of the room principal Isolde
is surrounded by paperwork and she looks up from a card she was reading and says -
ah Selkie, Rowan what are you doing here is there a problem-

Selkie shakes her head in disagreement and says -no nothings wrong I absolutely
love that you put him with us it’s just that yesterday he defeated me in a one on
one sparing match-

Isolde abruptly stands up from her chair and says -What but how you’re a
Battlewright and he defeated you no offense Rowan-

Rowan says -none taken I’m confused myself-

Selkie says -that’s not all he disabled my powers I had actual hair for a while
before the tentacles returned-

Isolde walks over to Rowan and says -well this makes you a Battlewright and the
first of the fire element so congratulations-
Then Rowan remembers that his clothes are too small and he ask - actually I was
going to come here to ask for a larger shirt since the one I have is too small-

Isolde says -actually since you’re a Battlewright you have the option to design
your very own outfit and the uniforms any future fire elementals will be based off
of your design so take some time to think about what you want for your outfit-

Rowan stands there thinking and says -alright I’ll design a uniform but if you
don’t mind I would like my position to stay hidden-

Selkie then ask -why-

And Rowan says -because I want to enjoy a quieter school year but if you want to
tell everyone I won’t stop you-

Isolde smiles and says -it’s alright let’s keep this to ourselves and your dorm-

Selkie then says -sure I’ll go tell the others-

Then Selkie puts her arm around Rowan and they both head back to the animal dorm

During the next week Rowan takes time to make a design for his outfit and he comes
up with the Flameborn uniform and it has some key details

1 it’s made from ignisweave a lightweight fire resistant fabric that adapts to the
wearer’s body temperature ensuring comfort during training and daily activities and
subtle ember like patterns run along the seams, glowing faintly when he activates
his fire

2 Blazemark tunic

a sleek fitted tunic in deep charcoal grey, accented with fiery red and orange
trim. The chest bears a glowing emblem of a phoenix symbolizing potencial, stitched
in flame-thread that shines when he’s emotionally charged

A short, asymmetrical cloak secured at his shoulder, woven from ignisweave. The
cloak is a symbol for his elemental powers and a shield against harsh elements.

4 Battlewright badge:

A radiant phoenix insignia he wears as the connection to the cloak, symbolizing

resilience, renewal and eternal flame. The phoenix’s wings spread upward with its
tail curling like flames

7 Customization for School:

The uniform can transform into a more casual version for classes, with a
retractable cloak and muted colors to avoid drawing unnecessary attention. Despite
this, the faint heat radiating from his presence often gives away his elemental
nature.

Unique Elemental Effects

• Living Flames: The uniform responds to his emotions, with flickers of
harmless fire appearing along its edges when he’s excited, focused, or angry.
• Self-Repairing: Thanks to his elemental connection, small damages to
the fabric are "healed" by his own flames, ensuring he always looks polished and
ready.
The next day Rowan gets dressed in his Flameborn uniform and Isolde ask him -what
do you think-

And Rowan answers -it’s perfect and can I say this uniform is the best and I can
feel the fire in it-

Isolde chuckles and says -yeah the Elemental Atelier has been making the uniforms
since before I became the principal and he never explains where he gets the
Elemental fabrics he says that it’s his secret-

Rowan smiles and says -thank you, it’s hard to believe that a couple of weeks ago I
was stealing food from stores and now I’m considered one of the strongest in the
Enclave-

Chapter twelve: Cinder Teaches Rowan to yeet fire

Once he arrived to the Nexus Range a beautiful range with targets and students
lined up and shooting at the targets the light elementals are shooting small balls
of light and Rowan notices that Nika is shooting at an insane rate but her accuracy
isn’t the best then he sees the animal elementals with bows in hand so he
approaches them and he sees Selkie who’s supervising the animal elementals as they
shoot some targets being moved by vines then he steps up to Selkie and asks her
“hey Selkie how do I start training” and she says “what do you mean you can start
anywhere” Rowan points at the vines moving the targets and says “but those are
plants won’t they burn if I shoot” and Selkie looks over at the plants and says “oh
yeah you don’t have to worry about that” then Rowan hears Cinder say “even if the
vines could burn with my help you will get a bullseye” Rowan lights his hand on
fire and ask Cinder “ok tell me what to do”
