(b) The Y.Y buses make journeys from Kampala to Mbale daily. A researcher recorded the
number of minutes x to the nearest minute; buses are late according to the schedule being used.
From a random sample of 50 journeys, the following times were summarized.
E(x) = 738 and ∑ x 2=¿ ¿ 16526
Find the unbiased estimate of the mean and variance of the population from which the sample
was drawn. (05 marks)
