STAGE 1: Problem Identification

This is when the student recognizes and clearly defines a problem, challenge, or area of innovation
they want to work on.

Activities include:

 Describing the problem in detail.

 Stating your intent – explaining how you plan to solve the problem.

 Writing the main idea or theme of your project.

 Stating design specifications – a list of features or requirements your solution should meet
by the end of the project.

STAGE 2: Investigation of Related Ideas

The pupil researches the current situation to find out what has been done to solve this or similar
problems.

Activities include:

 Searching for related information or existing ideas that might help solve the problem.

 Collecting data using different methods like:

o Drawings

o Pictures

o Observations

o Interviews or questionnaires

 Analyzing each idea to find out:

o Its strengths and weaknesses

o Whether it can solve the problem

 Making recommendations based on your findings.

STAGE 3: Generation of Ideas

The pupil begins to create new possible solutions to the problem.

Activities include:

 Modifying existing ideas from Stage 2 to make them better.

 Creating new ideas or solutions from scratch.

 Testing the ideas through experiments or simple trials.

 Presenting ideas using:


o Drawings

o Pictures

o Audio or video

o Drama or short performances

 Analyzing and comparing ideas to see which ones are most effective.

 Making connections between different ideas to improve them.

STAGE 4: Development of Ideas

The pupil selects the best idea from Stage 3 — the one that will best solve the problem.

After choosing the idea, the pupil should:

 Improve and refine the idea so it matches the design specifications from Stage 1.

 Keep analyzing and improving the idea as more information is gathered.

 Test the idea by making a:

o Mock-up (model)

o Drawing or demonstration

o Sample or prototype

STAGE 5: Presentation of Results

The pupil shows the final solution in a clear and creative way.

This may include:

 Drawings

 Pictures

 Videos

 Posters

 Models

 Performances

The aim is to clearly present how the idea solves the problem.

STAGE 6: Evaluation and Recommendations

In this final stage, the pupil reflects on the entire project.

Activities include:
 Commenting on achievements – What worked well?

 Mentioning challenges faced during the process.

 Checking if the solution meets the original intent and design specifications.

 Giving recommendations – Suggestions for improving the solution or for future work.
