Latest Inventory of the
Poultry in the Philippines
and International
As of January 2024, the
Philippines reported a total
poultry inventory of
approximately 14 million ducks,
marking the highest count
among livestock and poultry
animals in the country. In the
first quarter of 2024, Western
Visayas experienced a notable
increase in poultry production,
reaching 34,621 metric tons, up
from 31,568 metric tons in the
same period the previous year.
Globally, the poultry industry is experiencing a resurgence, with consumption projected to
grow by 2.5% to 3% in 2024, returning to historic growth levels. However, the industry
faces challenges such as avian influenza outbreaks, which have led to significant culling of
laying birds in regions like North America and Europe, contributing to a 60% increase in
global egg prices since 2019.
In summary, while the Philippines has seen growth in its poultry inventory and production
in 2024, the global poultry industry is also expanding, albeit with challenges like disease
outbreaks affecting supply and prices.
