TOURNAMENT INFORMATION &RULES
Tournament Information -
• The MPL Tournament will be played during Friday, 23 th May to Saturday, 31st
May (8:30 pm onwards).
• Everyone should reach 8:00 pm at ground
• There will be two matches each day.
• The MPL Tournament will be conducted at Mangalam Common Plot.
• There will be 6 teams participating in the league.
• MPL format will be as follows:
• Each team will comprise of 6 players.
• Each innings will be of 10 overs. There will be 5 minutes break between the
two innings.
• The MPL will be on the basis of League Stage Matches.
The scoring will be as STUMPS

DECIDING OVER. Deciding Over will be a 6
ball over & only 3 batsman are allowed to
play from the batting team & a team scoring
highest runs in this over will be the winner.
The tournament rules will apply for this over.
‘Super over’ will continue till there is a clear
winner.
• The Top two teams in each pool with maximum points in the League
matches will go into the semifinals. In case of tie in the points, team with
best statistics in the league matches will go into the semis. For best
statistics, Net Run Rate will be considered. In case of disputes, MPL
Committee’s decision will be final and binding.
• A scheduled match can be adjusted between two pair of teams playing on
any consecutive days. Prior permission from MPL committee will be
required.
• In case of any major dispute, the MPL Coordinating committee will give final
decision.

Tournament Rules –
• Teams (all players) schedule to play on a particular date & time should report on the
playground 15 minutes before the actual start of the play. E.g. teams whose scheduled
match timing is 9:00 pm, should report on playground at 8:45 pm.
• In case, entire team members of a particular team have not reported by 9:00 pm i.e.
by actual start time of the match and whereas all the team players of the opponent
team have reported, than in that case the team with complete attendance will be
allowed to bat for full 10 overs where as the team with less number of players will bat
for proportionately less overs. The number of overs in such case will be decided by the
committee.
• In case of delay, grace period of maximum 15 minutes will be given i.e the start of
the match will be allowed to delay by 15 minutes. In case the team players do not
report by this time, than the opponent team will get the BYE and will get full winning
points i.e 4 points.
• Match will be allowed to play with minimum 4 male and 1 female or more.
• Only over arm throw bowling allowed. No other bowling will allowed.
• Each bowler can bowl maximum 2 overs per inning. There is however no restriction
on the number of bowlers bowling per inning.
• There will be 2 Powerplays (Each of 1 over). One powerplay from bowling side and
one from batting side. Bowling side powerplay should compulsory be taken in 1 st ,2nd&
3rd Over (if not taken then 3rd over will be mandatorily considered as Powerplay over).
Powerplay is not to be taken in 9th and 10th over. Batting side powerplay should
compulsory be taken in 7th ,8th Over (if not taken then 8th over will be mandatorily
considered as Powerplay over)
Note:- For powerplay overs only one male & one female players will be allowed on
boundary.
• Wide Ball will get extra ball and a run. Bowling team captain can decide to change
the bowler if the bowler bowls more than 3 wide’s in a row. The new bowler will bowl a
new over.
• All No Ball – Extra Ball with extra run with free hit on the next ball. Run outs during
free hit will be given out.
• No LAST MAN standing.
• Each team has to play mandatorily with at least 1 female player.
• Female players has to mandatorily bat the 4th,5th & 6thover of the inning. If the
situation demands, female players can bat more than 1 over also i.e. she can come
back to play if all the balance wickets of her team falls, provided she does not get OUT
in the 4th,5th & 6th over.
• While batting in 4th, 5th& 6thover only, female players will be allowed to continue to
bat after she loses her wicket. In such case no run will be deducted from the team
score. However, in case of all subsequent fall of wickets 2 runs will be deducted from
the team score for each fall of her wicket.
• For 4th, 5th & 6th over while female player bats, bowling will be done by female player
of the opponent team. Throw bowling and under arm bowling is allowed for female
players. In case a female player takes a wicket of opponent batting female player, she
has to still continue batting and complete that entire over. In short, female player has
to play for all 6 balls.
• No extra ball will be given for the wide balls in the female over. All balls of the over
will be counted. However, in case of wide ball, 1 run will be given.
• 2 male players will be given rest during the female mandatory overs.
• If ball directly enters the party plot then it will be given out, else no run will be
given.
• Pace ball will be given No Ball. (Umpire’s decision will be final).
• Running on pitch is not allowed, strict action will be taken.
• Every first bouncer will be given warning and second bouncer will be given No ball.
• Runs of BYES and LEGBYES will be counted.
• If the ball touches wire or tree (trees within the boundaries), the six will be
considered six and out as out.
• Swapping of players between the teams is NOT allowed in any circumstances.
• It is mandatory to play the tournament in sports shoes only. No exceptions will be
considered. If any player is without sports shoes then he will strictly not be allowed to
play for that particular match.
• In all circumstances of play, umpire’s decision will be final.
• In case of disputes over play or over understanding/perception of the rules of the
tournament, MPL Committee’s decision will always be final and binding.
• The tournament’s intention is to cultivate team building. Team Captains on behalf of
their team have to demonstrate & encourage this by sportsman spirit. They will have
to ensure that players do not get indulged in serious arguments with any other players.
• Any subsequent addition of rule or change in current rules required for betterment
of the game will be communicated as and when felt necessary.
• Runner will not be permitted. In case of any injury then only runner will be allowed
then to with the permission of MPL Committee members.
• While playing a shot, if the ball directly hits the wall of any of the residential houses
and falls back in the playground, then the batsman will NOT BE considered out. If the
ball is directly hit to the residential houses & remains there then it will be considered
as OUT.
It is very important for each Captain that their team understands
the rules properly. All are requested to understand the rules
before the start of the game and play with total sportsman spirit.
For clarification of doubts, Captains are requested to meet MPL
Committee.
Major changes will be told before the match starts by MPL
committee.
