Chapter2: Literature Review Structure

Chapter Two
2. Literature Review Structure

This chapter covers introduction of the existing system, the role of existing system and major activities
of the proposed system. This chapter al so covers practices to be preserved from the existing system,
proposed solution of the existing system that addresses problem of existing system and requirements of
the proposed system.
The literature review for a Vehicle Management System (VMS) thesis is structured to provide a
comprehensive background on existing technologies, methodologies, and theoretical underpinnings
relevant to the research problem.

2.1 Overview of Existing System

Currently RESCO Vehicle Management system uses paper-based documentation or manual
system approach to record and report its file. There are activities and tasks that can be taking
care off by the staff members, driver and technician like
Report Preparation: Report can be prepared in the form of paper documentation
Document Collection: Document can be collect from the prepared report according their function and
summitted time to allocated time.
Order driver: -based on the request service the manager order the driver by giving the
command or written command.
The staff request the car service to manager for his/her trip work
The messenger circulates the forms and documented from one office to another.

2.2 proposed system

In basic of understanding of the current manual system and identifying all of the problems occurred
during over all activities of the existing system. I has decided to design an automated web based system
model as solution. Since the client server model full flagged online at any time. It will solve problem and
limitation of current manual system of x
The administer manages all works related to the system like creating and deleting manager, driver, staff
and mechanics account and register employee.
The Vehicle manager in the system can register vehicle, update vehicle record, view vehicles
information, manage request, assign vehicle
he one who drives the car, in this system the driver views notification and request maintenance record
for the mechanic and can submit comment to the manager
Mechanics view maintenance request and can approve or reject the request and send notification to the
requestor.

2.3 Theatrical Framework

This section outline the theoretical understanding of the vehicle management domain, focusing in the
system theory , software engineering principles, and real time system model. Key farmwork such as the
model view controller architecture, database normalization theory, and Restful API design principles will
be discussed in the context of the building scalable and and maintainable software system.

2.3.1 Security and Privacy Models

Given the sensitivity of location and usage data, security frameworks like CIA (Confidentiality, Integrity,
Availability) are incorporated. These models ensure that the VMS upholds secure data transactions, user
authentication, and access control.
2.4 Review of related Works
Several VMS application and research studies have been viewed .
Existing work: System such as fleetio, Verizon connect, and custom ERP modules for vehicle tracking
offer features like vehicle registration, maintenance scheduling.

Limitation: costly enterprise solutions, limited customization for smaller organization, lack of offline
capabilities.
Gap: most existing systems are not tailored for academic of government usage or small organization
with limited budges and resources. This proposed system aims to provide a cost effective, customizable,
and modular solution.

2.5 summary and Gap Identification

From the literature, it is clear that while vehicle management are widely used in the commercial sector,
gaps remain in cost effectiveness customizability, and real time offline support.

This project address these gaps by proposing a lightweight, modular VMS suitable for small organization
or institution, utilizing modern web technologies and open source tools.
