PDF/A validation with veraPDF


veraPDF is an open source software to validate PDFs. veraPDF is still being developed,
but can already be installed (Windows, Mac, Linux) and used.

PDF/A validation with Adobe Acrobat Professional


In Adobe Acrobat Pro (licence required) the Preflight tool can be used to validate files
and correct errors.
The following description refers to the version Acrobat Pro 2017.

Open file in Adobe Acrobat Pro → “View” → “Tools” → “PDF Standards” →


“Preflight” (or: Shift + Ctrl + X)
In tab “Profiles” and section “PDF/A”, choose the respective standard for validation
→ “Analyze”
(“Essentials” might be pre-selected in the upper menu resulting in numerous options
missing in the list → change to “PDF Standards”)
