1. What part of the material covered thus far presents the biggest challenge for me?
The most difficult thus far for me is realizing that I do not always consider emotional
involvement when I am in a situation. Reading material that helped to analyze personal
responses and behaviour and how that can be used against people and for people as well .
I had to learn that a logical contribution to situations is not always best, especially in an
emotionally charged situation or environment. Placing myself in uncomfortable situations
and challenging the way I thought about feelings and how they can be managed. Reading
that emotional regulation is good but one does not need to regulate their emotions all the
time (Batool, 2013). During some readings this week it made me realize how I ignored
emotions because they present as illogical to me.
2. What are my two strong points in providing feedback and what are the two points I
need to work on and why?
The common words I use in providing feedback are 'insightful', 'thoughtful', 'concise', and
'simple but explicit'. I always try to be objective and never make it personal when giving
feedback. I give my honest opinion about the subject or someone’s writing even when I
think it might cause conflict. I also make sure to attach useful information links if I think they
are necessary.
The first point I need to work on is how to thoroughly and patiently read through my peers'
responses so as to really understand their points and grade them properly. Then second
point I need to work is on how to improve on the feedback I give my peers, I need to try to
ensure my feedback is detailed and explicit enough, not using one phrase or sentence only
(Rabinowitz, n.d).
3. What are my two strong points in receiving feedback and what are the two points I
need to work on and why?
I generally am good at receiving feedback when it’s positive and reinforces what I already
knew. Generally depending on whether I have an extremely full schedule I do take my time
in reading feedback that I have been given and if I can respond then do accordingly.
I could also work on receiving feedback and taking some criticism because I don’t like
getting a negative response. I can also work on being receptive to feedback.
