1. What is your understanding of bullying?
I think bullying is when someone uses their power or influence to make others feel bad about
themselves. It can happen in person or through social media.
2. Have you personally experienced bullying or witnessed a bullying incident at school? If so,
describe the event.
I’ve seen it a few times, especially online. A girl in my class was mocked in a WhatsApp group, and nobody
said anything until a teacher got involved.
3. Explain the impact on your well-being after being bullied or witnessing it happen to someone
else?
Seeing cyberbullying made me feel anxious and unsafe, even though I wasn’t the one being targeted. It
reminded me that anyone could be next, and it changed how I used social media. I was more cautious
about what I posted and who I interacted with. It definitely made me more protective of others online.
4. State why you agree/disagree that there are enough laws/ legislations to protect learners from
bullying at school and in the community?
I think the laws exist, but they aren’t always taken seriously. Schools sometimes act like bullying is just
kids being kids. There should be more focus on applying the laws fairly and consistently, especially when
students report problems. It’s not just about the rules—it’s about action.
5. Do you think that the school is playing their role in managing and ensuring that bullying is
prevented? Explain your viewpoint
The school tries, but I don’t think it’s enough. They have anti-bullying policies and do workshops, but
sometimes the problem still gets swept under the rug. They need to be more consistent in checking in on
students who might be struggling or being left out.

To me, bullying is when someone is repeatedly mean or harmful to someone else. It could be teasing,
threatening, or leaving someone out.

describe the event.
Yes, I was bullied in Grade 9 for being quiet and wearing glasses. People used to mock me during breaks. It
made me dread coming to school.

else?
Being bullied affected me in ways I didn’t expect. It lowered my self-confidence and made me feel like I
didn’t belong. I started avoiding people and keeping to myself more. Even now, I sometimes worry that
people are judging me, even when they’re not
4. State why you agree/disagree that there are enough laws/ legislations to protect learners from
bullying at school and in the community?
I disagree because even when bullying is reported, nothing really changes. I don’t feel like the system
protects quiet students like me. There may be rules on paper, but in real life, they don’t stop the bullying.
The process needs to be stronger and faster.
5. Do you think that the school is playing their role in managing and ensuring that bullying is
prevented? Explain your viewpoint
I don’t feel like the school is doing enough. Whenever bullying is reported, it’s like the issue is dealt with
in a very “formal” way. It doesn’t actually stop the bullying or address the feelings of the victim. It’s more
about following procedures than making real change.

Bullying is when someone gets treated badly over and over again, like getting insulted or pushed around.
It’s not just a joke—it really affects people.

describe the event.
I haven’t been bullied myself, but I’ve seen it happen in the hallways—usually someone making fun of
another student’s clothes or background.
3. Explain the impact on your well-being after being bullied or witnessing it happen to someone
else?
Witnessing bullying made me feel uncomfortable and kind of helpless. I didn’t know what to say or do at
the time, and that made me feel guilty. It changed how I looked at people I used to think were just funny. I
realized that staying silent can sometimes make you part of the problem.
4. State why you agree/disagree that there are enough laws/ legislations to protect learners from
bullying at school and in the community?
I believe there are laws meant to protect learners, and some schools do follow them well. The problem is
more about awareness and communication. A lot of students don’t know their rights or what to do when
they're bullied. If the laws were explained better, they might work.
5. Do you think that the school is playing their role in managing and ensuring that bullying is
prevented? Explain your viewpoint
I think the school is trying to play their role, but they could do more. They hold some events to raise
awareness and encourage inclusion, but it doesn’t feel like enough. If they focused more on creating a
safe environment in day-to-day school life, it would help prevent bullying.

It’s when people mess with others in a way that’s clearly not okay. Could be words, rumors, or even
ignoring someone on purpose.

describe the event.
Yeah, there was a guy who got constantly teased for being different. People thought it was just “banter,”
but it clearly upset him.
3. Explain the impact on your well-being after being bullied or witnessing it happen to someone
else?
The bullying I saw really stuck with me. It made me realize how fast a group can turn against someone just
for being different. It also made me look at my own behavior and ask if I’ve ever been part of that. I try to
be more aware now and check in with people who seem left out.
4. State why you agree/disagree that there are enough laws/ legislations to protect learners from
bullying at school and in the community?
I don’t think there are enough clear laws for bullying, especially outside of school like online. People are
bullied in WhatsApp groups or on Instagram and no one does anything. More laws need to cover online
spaces and make adults more responsible for stopping it.
5. Do you think that the school is playing their role in managing and ensuring that bullying is
prevented? Explain your viewpoint
The school doesn’t really manage bullying well. Teachers sometimes notice, but it feels like they don’t act
on it enough. Most of the time, the kids who bully keep doing it because there’s no real consequence, and
the victims don’t get enough support.

Bullying is a form of intentional and repeated harm towards someone who may not be able to defend
themselves easily. It’s often about control or dominance.

Once, I saw a student being isolated by a group just because she transferred from another province. They
wouldn’t let her sit with them in class.

else?
The bullying incident I saw made me really disappointed in our school environment. It made me more
closed off because I felt like no one cared enough to stop it. I started avoiding social groups and only stuck
with people I trust. It definitely affected how safe I felt at school.

I agree that laws exist, but they need to be reinforced more. Sometimes the school does act, but only
when it’s something extreme. There should be more attention to everyday bullying too. The laws aren’t
the problem—it’s the way they’re handled.

The school has measures in place, but they don’t seem to catch everything. They have programs to raise
awareness, and there are some teachers who are really good at helping, but the school could do better at
creating a more inclusive environment. More involvement from everyone is needed

1. Bullying is when someone keeps hurting or picking on another person on purpose. It can be
physical, verbal, or even online, and it’s meant to make the person feel small or scared.

Yeah, I saw a guy in my class get pushed and called names because of how he talks. I stepped in
once, but it kept happening after school too.
3. Explain the impact on your well-being after being bullied or witnessing it happen to someone
else?
Watching someone get bullied made me feel really angry and frustrated. I couldn’t understand
why people were just standing around laughing or ignoring it. It stayed in my head for days, and
I felt guilty for not doing more. Since then, I’ve started speaking up when I see something wrong
, even if it’s awkward.
4. State why you agree/disagree that there are enough laws/ legislations to protect learners from
bullying at school and in the community?
I don’t think there are enough laws, or if there are, they’re not properly enforced. Bullying still
happens all the time in schools, and people get away with it. There should be stronger
consequences, especially for repeat offenders. Teachers also need more support to act on it.
5. Do you think that the school is playing their role in managing and ensuring that bullying is
prevented? Explain your viewpoint
I don’t think the school does enough to prevent bullying. They say all the right things in
assemblies, but when it comes down to actually stopping it, they don’t follow through. The
Teachers are sometimes too busy to notice the smaller things, and bullying often goes unnoticed
until it’s too late.
