Program Management

Definition:
Program Management is the process of managing a group of related projects together to
achieve a bigger goal and get more benefits than managing them separately.

Example:
College wants to go digital →

• Project 1: Student portal

• Project 2: Mobile app

• Project 3: Online fee payment

• Project 4: Staff training

Together these projects form the Digital Transformation Program.

Project Portfolio Management (PPM)

Definition:
Portfolio Management is the process of managing a collection of programs and projects
(not always related) to achieve the organization’s overall strategy.

Example:
A company like TCS →

• Program A: Banking solutions

• Program B: Healthcare IT systems

• Program C: Education software

All these together form the company’s portfolio.
