Introduction
This research study was conducted to determine the reasons why a student is frequently absent in
class and what intervention to use in order to eliminate the problem of absenteeism. Attendance
rate is essential for students because it is believed that they are more likely to succeed in academics
when they attend school consistently. It is difficult for the teacher and the class to build their skills
and progress if a large number of students are frequently absent. However, there are times that
students do not come to school with or without any valid reasons. Often, it happens twice or thrice
a week. Absenteeism in school is the habit of staying away from school without providing a
genuine or any reason for not attending classes. It is also a truant behavior that negatively affects
the performance among students.
Literature review
Absenteeism was a problem since education came, up until now this problem was still encountered.
Many students experienced this problem that affects their academic performances, social
relationships, and learning experiences. Even though many researchers have tried coping up the
reasons and solutions, yet there are still no specific explanations and resolutions on the mentioned
problem. This research seeks to find connected theories that the researchers can use As a basis to
acquire the most accurate reasons.
Research question/objective
Methodology
The researcher used a qualitative method where a research made questionnaire was used, performs
home visitations, and conducted interviews with the people related to the students. Among the
students of Sta. Rita National High School, some students manifested significant absenteeism and
have been the subject of the study.
Expected Outcomes
Frequent absenteeism can have a negative impact on a student’s academic performance. It may
result in missed lessons, falling behind in coursework, and lower grades. Ethically, educators
should strive to provide support and resources to help students overcome barriers to attendance.
Research timeline
Recruitment and participant selection: 5 days
Data collection (interviews, observations): 1 week
Data analysis: 2days
Report writing and dissemination: 2 weeks.
Budget
The budget is collecting money in groups for the cost of printing and paying for the load
Expected out comes
This research is expected to provide insight to students in sta. rita national high school so that they
can avoid frequent absences from class and low grades
