I. Introduction

“Dahil Kay Ma’am”

The video tells a story about a boy named Tolentino and his strict but caring

English teacher. The story shows how Tolentino's English teacher, despite

being scary to others, continuously pushes him to do his best by always

being there when nobody else is. The teacher's compassion inspires

Tolentino to become a teacher himself, and in the end, we see him with his

teacher's daughter heading to class. The video was made to show how

impactful teachers are in a student's life, a good teacher will lead their

student to success. The video's warm atmosphere, relatable setting, clear

narrative, and exceptional talent of the actors, producers, and editors make

it heartwarming and unforgettable to the audience.

Core Concept #1: All messages are ‘constructed’

"Dahil Kay Ma'am" is a short and inspirational film that shows the impact of a

good teacher. The film falls under the category of inspirational content and

celebrates the value of teaching. It distinguishes itself from other short films

in the same category with its quality, relatability, and clear storyline. The film

was produced with different types of digital equipment and technology, such

as editing software, and sound design tools. The casting, setting, tone,

pacing, dialogue, lighting, and background music were made to reflect a

warm and satisfying feeling. If any one of these choices were made

differently, it could change the overall dramatic effect completely. Producing

this message took a dedicated team of scriptwriters, actors, editors,

directors, and cinematographers. They made a piece of media that is able to

deliver a message clearly and thoughtfully about the impact of teachers on

youth.

Core Concept #2: Media messages are constructed using a creative

language with its own rules.

The message was easy to understand, and can be recognized mid way

through the video. The story was short as it was intended to be and still

managed to deliver the message clearly. The technology used such as the

software as well as the equipment was high quality. That technology was
used effectively and creatively, the angle of the shots, the lighting, the color,

the transitions, the music & video – all of it made the video more visually

appealing & stunning, and the video makes the audience uplifted and

inspired. All of this was nicely reflected in the media message, which shows

great understanding.

Core Concept #3: __________

People interpret media messages differently because everyone has unique

experiences and perspectives. In "Dahil Kay Ma'am," Tolentino's teacher is

meant to be a strict, but caring person who brings a positive learning

experience to Tolentino in order to help shape his future. This is meant to

represent the teachers in my life who did the same for me and my peers. I

want others to learn why we should appreciate our teachers and learn about

themselves in the process. Although I believe that this goal has been

achieved, other people have different perspectives and opinions about the

teacher. Some might say she was too harsh, which shows how different

backgrounds influence media interpretation, and why we should always

value their opinions due to not being in the same shoes as them.

Core Concept #4:

“Dahil Kay Ma’am” really shows strong values like hard work, respect, and

gratitude. It gives a real look into the life of a student who goes through

tough times but finds support in his teacher. The story is told in a way that

feels honest and relatable, especially from the point of view of someone
looking back on how a teacher changed his path. The setting, dialogue, and

emotions all feel grounded in real life. Overall, the message about how

teachers can make a lasting impact comes through clearly and consistently.

Core Concept #5: Most media messages are organized to gain profit and/or

power.

The purpose of the video was to show the significance of teachers and how

impactful they are in a student’s life. Showing that teachers are our “parents

in school”, who worries for our wellness, and for our future. They are our also

our motivators and role models, who help in building knowledge, confidence,

and our development. This message can be easily seen and understood in

the video, due to the way the main character spoke about his teacher and

him developing in different areas because of the teacher. The warm and

wholesome atmosphere along with the positive message of the video leaves

the audience in a sense of joy and elevated mood.
