School prayer –
(Names added)
Join your hands and close your eyes and repeat after us..
Dear God, as I begin this day
Let me turn my thoughts to
You, And ask Your help in
guiding me In everything I say
and do.
Give me the patience that I need
To keep my peace of mind,
And with life's cares, I hope, Dear God, Some
happiness to find.
Let me live but for today,
Not worrying what's
ahead, For I have trust
that You will see I get my
"Daily Bread ".
Give me the courage to face life's trials
And not from troubles run,
Let me keep this thought in
mind, "Thy Will "not "Mine
", be done.
And if some wish I do not get
Though I have prayed to Thee,
Help me to believe and
understand You know what's best
for me.
I've failed You many times, I know,
But when tonight I rest,
I hope that I can kneel and say,
"Dear God, I've tried my best."
Thank you god

their opponents, who struggled to score against his determined
and persistent play.

interesting, exciting, or holding your complete attention.
Usage of the word – The intense back-and-forth in the basketball

[Link] play
Akshara Presenting before you This role play will be on
importance of sports in life, sports in India and some other
miscellaneous topics. Then the idea of National Sports day would
be conveyed. And lastly the contribution of Major Dhyanchand
would be shared
Swaralee
The Characters for the role play are as follows
Rachit as Akshat a sincere boy but is more engaged in video games
rather than outdoor games
Shreejoy and Simran as Akshat’s parents who are concerned
about his health
Akshara-
Scene1- Summer vacations are going on. Every other child is
playing cricket outside except for Akshat. He is sitting at his home
and playing video games. His parents enter the house.
Rachit-(playing video games) yes! I won!!
(Entry of parents, they look at each other and sit near Akshat)
Simran-What is this Akshat!? You are playing those video games
again even after we have told you about their harmful
consequences?
Shreejoy-Your summer vacations are going on, why don’t you go
outside and spend some time with your friends? That would be
much better.
Rachit- I am not good at sports and these video games more fun.
Besides, what is the use of sports, they don’t seem to be important.
Simran- That is not true, Sports are very essential for an
individual’s life. The perspective that they are useless is completely
false. They are the best way to ensure fitness in our day-to-day life.
And for children of developing age, it compliments their growth in
many ways.
Shreejoy-And don’t forget teamwork. It is a characteristic of
sports.
You have to collaborate with your teammates and relentlessly
support each other to become collectively strong as a team. This
even leads to better decision making and overall mental
development too.
Rachit-But I never win. I have lost many more games than I win
and it is not fun to play sports when you are constantly losing.
Simran-You must always keep in mind that there is nothing in
sports such as loss, there is always something to learn from
victories and losses. This is the best way to develop resilience in us.
The values that we develop, in sports remain in our life forever and
guide us forever.
NOTE-(When father takes the name of sports , each display setups
at the foreground of the role play)
Father-Our country is very enthusiastic in sports. So Today let me
take you on a journey into the heart of India — a land where every
village square, every dusty playground, and every festive fair has a
story to tell… a story of sports born from our culture. So Come with
me and enjoy the journey I am sure you will change your mindset
after that..
Swaralee
SCENE 2 : Akshats father take him through the village side near to
their town and the witness several traditional games
Note( the setup changes for the display of traditional sports begins as
the song is played.)
Rushika
Sport 1: Kabaddi
(Two students step forward, one shouts “Kabaddi,
Kabaddi” while mock playing)
Our first stop — Kabaddi, the game of strength and
breath control. Originating over 4,000 years ago, it’s a
test of agility, power, and strategy.
Atharva
Sport 2: Kho Kho
(Students sit in zig-zag formation, one chases another
in demonstration)
Next, we have Kho Kho — a thrilling tag game where
speed and quick thinking are everything. It teaches
teamwork and sharp reflexes.
And here’s the twist — it’s one of the few sports
where you chase sitting down! Developed in
Maharashtra, it’s now played internationally.
Rushika
Sport 3: Mallakhamb
(A student shows a rope or pole with a pose, or image
displayed on placard)
Meet Mallakhamb, the ancient sport of wrestling
exercises on a wooden pole or rope. Originating from
Maharashtra, it improves flexibility, balance, and
courage.
Atharva
Sport 4: Gilli Danda
(Two students enact hitting a small stick with a big
stick)
Here’s a childhood classic — Gilli Danda. A small stick,
a bigger stick, an open field, and a lot of cheers. It’s
like cricket’s ancient cousin.
And the best part? No fancy kit needed — just skill
and friends!
Rushika
Sport 5: Pehlwani (Indian Wrestling)
(Two students show a wrestling stance)
Pehlwani, the traditional Indian wrestling, is more
than a sport — it’s a discipline. Wrestlers train in
akhadas, follow strict diets, and honor age-old
customs.
India has produced legendary champions like Dara
Singh and Sushil Kumar, keeping this art alive.
Atharva
From the dusty fields to the grand arenas, these
sports have kept our bodies fit and our culture alive.
Rushika
They remind us that sports are not just games —
they’re traditions, stories, and values passed down
through generations.
Both together:
Let’s celebrate and preserve our traditional sports…
because they are not just our past, they are our pride!
Akshara
SCENE 3 : Akshat and his father returns back home
NOTE-(Akshat looks at the sports display with amaze. And the
setup changes back to home)
RACHIT (With a sigh)- Dad You were right. I have realized that
sports provide us with a better version of ourselves and that sports
are so much better than playing video games in summer vacations.
(With a happy smile)-Ok, now I am going to play out with my
friends. Bye!
Both parents-Now that’s the spirit!!
Swaralee - The parents smile with a felling of satisfaction in there
mind and Akshat leaves to play .
(Everyone one together ) Thank you
NOTE-(Role-play exists and anchors 3 and 4 enter)
Akshat Mallik : A big round of applause for our friends for
presenting such wonderful and inspirational role play and Display
Anushka Prasad : Now we would like to handover the Mic to
Abdul and Sharan for further proceedings
[Link] in India and National Sports Day
Abdul-Thank you Anushka. August 29th marks the birth
anniversary of the great
Indian field hockey player, Major Dhyanchand Singh. It was his
significant contributions to Indian sports and his legacy which
prompted the Indian Government to declare his birthday as the
National Sports Day. He was the one who inspired millions of
people in India
Sharan-Born in Allahabad on 29TH August 1905 in an army
serving middle class family of Jhansi, he got enlisted in British
Indian Army at a young age of
[Link] was an exceptional handler of the hockey stick. The Indian
Hockey
Federation selected him in the Olympics which were to take place
in Amsterdam in 1928. Here is where he earned his famed title
“The Wizard of Hockey”.
Abdul-Then there was no stopping the Indian team. They went on
to win
7 out of 8 tournaments from 1928-32, which included 3
consecutive Olympics. It is even said that during the 1928 Olympics,
the Dutch broke Dhyanchand stick to inspect if there was any
magnet inside.
Sharan- Truly, he was unquestionably the best in the history of
field hockey. He was even awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1956. He
is a source of inspiration for every Indian and especially the youth.
We should thank each and everyone who has given their
contribution in the field of sports.
Abdul :The habit “Seek First to Understand, Then to Be
Understood” emphasizes the importance of empathetic listening in
all interactions. In general, it stresses understanding others’
viewpoints, emotions, and concerns before expressing one’s own.
In sports, this habit builds trust, improves communication, and
fosters a collaborative team environment by understanding
teammates’, coaches’, or even opponents’ perspectives before
offering advice or insights, leading to more effective teamwork and
relationships.
