AC CIRCUITS
1. Derive the expression for Average Value, RMS Value of the AC Voltage waveform.
2. Explain the concept of Real power, Reactive power, apparent power and power factor in AC circuits.
3. Derive the phasor relationship between voltage and current waves in R-L Series circuit.
4. A circuit consists of a resistance of 10Ω and inductor of 1H are in series. If Supply of 100v, 50Hz is applied to the ends
of circuit. Calculate i) Impedance ii) Current iii) Phase angle iv) power factor
5. A circuit consists of a resistance of 15Ω and capacitance of 50μf are in series. If Supply of 150v, 50Hz is applied to the
ends of circuit. Calculate i) Impedance ii) Current iii) Phase angle iv) power factor
6. Derive the phasor relationship between voltage and current waves in R-C Series circuit.
7. Derive the phasor relationship between voltage and current waves in R-L-C Series circuit.
8. Define Resonance and derive the expression for resonant frequency.
9. A circuit consists of a resistance of 15Ω, a capacitance of 200μf and inductor of 0.05H all in series. If Supply of 230v,
50Hz is applied to the ends of circuit. Calculate i) Impedance ii) Current iii) Phase angle iv) power factor
10. A series circuit has a resistance of 2Ω and inductor of 0.25H, a variable capacitance is connected across a 230V, 50Hz
supply. Calculate: i) The value of the capacitance for resonance ii) The Resonant frequency
11. In the circuit shown in below figure, Determine the total impedance Z, current I, Phase angle ø, and the
voltage across each element at frequency of 20Hz.

12. Define Amplitude, cycle, frequency, phase angle, peak to peak value, form factor, peak factor, impedance,
admittance.

15. Find the amplitude, phase angle, frequency, time period, average value and RMS values for the given AC wave
V(t)= 20Sin(50t+70˚)
