it would be a good way to start thinking about cause and effect. what would happen when we put corn in the
hot oil. They will get hot of course! Once they hear the corn start popping they will ask and think what the
noise is. When they see what happened they will be delighted and they will be so proud of the snack they
made!

. We learn that the turtles have shells to protect their bodies so I cut a turtle body out of construction paper and
then paint paper plates that we stapled together on top of his body to give him a shell. It was really easy and a
lot of fun.
We continued to explore cause and effect by making volcanoes in our sandbox. We buried bottles filled with
vinegar, water and food coloring in sand mountains and then added baking soda. This activity got big giggles
from them

Sometimes the littles like to have their teeth brushed and sometimes it’s a fight so this week we did an activity
fromPreschool Playbook. We pretended that hard boiled eggs were teeth and soaked them in Coke. We talked
about how food and juice stay on our teeth until we brush them and then we used old toothbrushes and
toothpaste to clean our eggs. We did this early in the morning before brushing our own teeth and I think they
were a little more vigorous with their tooth brushing after the activity.

We played with color mixing by concocting nature potions. The girls collected leaves, grass and small twigs and
stones which they added to water and then colored with food colours

we did the sink or float experimen I collected a variety of objects: keys, a toy boat, a wooden block, a plastic
block, a toy hammer, a ball, a coin and even a handkerchief. First we guessed whether the object would sink or
float and then we tested out our guess. The girls continued playing with the objects and the water long after the
experiment was over and discovered that while the boat did float, if you filled it with water it would also sink. t

We decided to use their instructions to try to grow an avocado stone this week. Ours already had a little root
coming out of it when we opened the avocado and we are hoping that it continues to grow. We stuck some
toothpicks into the stone and then suspended it on top of a jar of water so that the bottom of the stone stays
submerged. The girls love checking on it.

We did the most fun science experiment from the Imagination Tree. We went on a nature walk and collected
leaves, twigs, stones, and flowers in an old ice cream container. Then we added water and put it in the freezer.
The next day we took out our block of ice and tried to get the items out using the sun, our tool kit

I knew this color mixing experiment would be a hit. I added a little bit of food color to glasses of water so that
Boo started with a glass of red, blue, and yellow. I gave her some empty glasses to mix in as well as a spoon
and an eye dropper. She loved it and is constantly asking for more so we repeated this activity a couple of
times this week.
