“Assessing Management Strategies for Promoting Entrepreneurial Skills in Technical and Vocational

Education and Training (TVET) Institutions in Ghana”

Background to the Study

In recent years, the Government of Ghana has intensified efforts to reform Technical and Vocational
Education and Training (TVET) to address youth unemployment and improve economic development.
One of the key components of this reform is the integration of entrepreneurship education into TVET
curricula. Entrepreneurial skills are essential for equipping students with the mindset and tools to create
jobs rather than depend on limited formal employment opportunities. However, the success of this
initiative largely depends on how well school management structures implement and support
entrepreneurial training. Despite various policy frameworks and support from stakeholders, many TVET
institutions face challenges related to funding, staff capacity, curriculum delivery, and stakeholder
engagement. This study seeks to assess the strategies adopted by TVET institutional management in
promoting entrepreneurship and the challenges and opportunities therein.

Specific Objectives

1. To examine the strategies employed by TVET school management in promoting entrepreneurial skills
among students.

2. To identify the key challenges faced by management in implementing entrepreneurship education in

TVET institutions.

3. To assess the effectiveness of existing entrepreneurship programs and their alignment with industry
needs.

4. To explore opportunities for improving the management of entrepreneurial skill development in TVET
institutions.
