Static Routing with Three Routers

Static routing is a manual method for configuring routes in a router's table, ideal for smaller or stable networks. The document outlines a topology involving three routers connected to different LANs and specifies configuration steps for each router, including IP addresses and routes. It also suggests using the ping command to verify connectivity between the networks.

Static Routing Topology Using 3 Routers

What is Static Routing?

Static routing is a method of manually configuring routes in a router’s routing table. Unlike
dynamic routing protocols, static routing does not change automatically and is suitable for
smaller or stable networks where the routes do not change frequently.

Topology Overview
- Router0: Connected to LAN [Link]/24

- Router1: Connected to LAN [Link]/24

- Router2: Connected to LAN [Link]/24

- Serial Connections:

• - Router0 ⇔ Router1 ([Link]/8)

• - Router1 ⇔ Router2 ([Link]/8)

Configuration Steps

Router0 Configuration
interface FastEthernet0/0
ip address [Link] [Link]
no shutdown
interface Serial0/0/0
ip address [Link] [Link]
no shutdown

ip route [Link] [Link] [Link]

Router1 Configuration

interface FastEthernet0/0

no shutdown

interface Serial0/0/0

no shutdown

interface Serial0/0/1

Router2 Configuration

interface FastEthernet0/0

interface Serial0/0/0
ip address [Link] [Link]

Verifying Connectivity
Use the ping command from one PC to another (e.g., PC0 to PC5 or PC8) to test full
communication between networks.
