Doomsday

In the middle of Nara City, a large stadium stood majestically, its grandiose structure stretching far and
wide to the north and south of the city, the stadium was bathed in neon lights, making it come alive as it
rhyme with the city background music.

In the stadium itself, the audience seat had come to live with cheers and joyful roars echoing through
the stadium. The audience sits in a strange yet, organized manner, from the entrance of the stadium
down to the left, they were all dressed in blue jersey, everyone of them. While from the left to the right,
down to the entrance of the stadium, they were all dressed in yellow jersey, giving the atmosphere a
sense of unity and competition.

On the field itself, just as it was, among the audience, two different teams stood against each other, the
first team in yellow jersey while the other in blue jersey, all staring at each other with great
determination hint in their gaze. Three referees stood between them as pictures was being taken.

The camera hovers above a young teenage boy wearing a yellow jersey, the camera zoomed in,
capturing his face properly. The boy had an oval shaped face, shining brightly with his golden spiky hair,
he had a pair of golden earrings piercing his ear as he stood calmly, his gaze distant but focus.

As the camera zoomed in to take proper look of the boy, the crowd roar in cheers as they keep chanting
his name.

Right at the back of his jersey, Emmy - the young man's name - was well written, with large number 10
boldly placed below it.

A couple minutes later, both teams scattered on the field after the usual was done, taking their
respective position. The referee stood in the middle, with his whistle hanging on his lips ready to blow
the kickoff.

Just as the referee finally blew his whistle, signaling for the match to begin, something strange
happened.

Casting above the center of the field was a strange large shadow, spherical in shape and keep getting
larger by the seconds. The players instinctively move away from the center, all taking guard as they dive
down to the edge of the field.

There was a mix of emotion among the audience, some of the surprise, fear gripped some of them as
they already know what was happening, while some were eager, a few had an expression of ignorance
on their face.

A minute later, something large, heavy and powerful, struck the surface of the field, landing straight at
the center where several spikes of earth was sent flying back, hitting a few unfortunate people in the
process, among the audience.
Standing at the center of the field now was a solid object, round in shape and as large as an asteroid, a
few feet had been buried in the ground, during its landing. The object was very smooth, sleek and
shining brightly, purple in color and almost flawless if not for the fact that something strange started
happening to it immediately it landed.

A few people who had already know what was happening were navigating their way out of the stadium,
fear gripping their heart, while some stay and stared at the object in anticipation, among this set of
people was the young man named Emmy.

"Wow, so it's really going to happen, now let's see what you have for us."

Emmy muttered under his breath, his gaze not moving away from the object.

The stadium had turn into a hall of chaos, with people running around, trying to find their way out.

"Emmy!!! What are you doing, let's go."

His Coach shouted as everyone burst out of the field, Emmy is the only one still standing on the field,
staring at the object as several cracks started appearing on it, almost like the hatching of an egg.

*Evacuate the stadium now and get to safety, it's already starting. Nobody should remain on the
stadium, I repeat, evacuate the stadium now. Elite Squad will arrive soon.*

A deep mechanical voice resounded through the stadium, and people who are reluctant to leave started
walking out in regret.

'Is it that frightened.'

Emmy thought as he turn around, sad that he won't be able to see what he had always wanted to see,
face to face. The fact that they didn't get to play their match did not bother him at all, what made him
sad was how he was forced to leave the field.

'I'll just have to hide somewhere and watch.'

"Emmy!!!"

He heard the voice of his coach again, now etched with fear and worry. When he look up to see what's
going on, he was surprised to find himself in the position his coach was standing a second ago.

'What's happening.'

Then he look ahead of him, his heart sunk immediately as he realized what had happened. He could see
his coach standing in his own position, a sad smile on his face, and his lip curled up, saying a silent word.

"Run."
A large earth spike suddenly protrude out of his chest, then his head was sent flying out of his body. It all
happened in a fraction of seconds, before Emmy could process what was happening, his coach was
already dead, in his own place.

"Nooooo!"

Emmy screamed at the top of his lung as he started running towards him and a large crescent sword
suddenly weaved into existence in his hand as he watch something emerge from the fallen object.

Coming out of the object was a creature Emmy haven't seen before, something that could only
appeared in his worst nightmare and would've planted fear in him immediately.

But now, Emmy wasn't scared at all, instead, rage was boiling inside him, running through his vein as it
mixed with his blood, fueling his very soul. He ran towards the creature without hesitation.

The creature stood several feets tall, a bit taller than the fallen sphere it had come out. It's body was
built with red and black brick with several cracks on it, the creature's eyes was hollow and a large
hammer rested on it shoulder, a lot bigger than two adult men combined together.

"I'll kill you."

Emmy shouted, running towards the creature, but before he could get to it, several other creatures
emerged from the fallen sphere, different creatures of all kinds. There was one that look like the
combination of bear and ape, another one look like a chimpanzee and a dog, creatures of all kinds. And
they were all ugly, with a deadly aura surrounding them.

Their attention was directed at the single human on the field, who was running towards with rage
burning in the depth of his heart.

"I'll take your life even if I have to lose mine."

Emmy shouted as he charged towards the group of deadly creatures that keeps coming out of the
sphere endlessly.

The first creature that had emerge from the sphere, the one with the brick body, stretches its body a
few times with several shards of brick falling off its body, then it struck down the hammer resting on its
shoulder, sending several spikes of earth towards Emmy, who has immediately stopped in his track,
staring at the spikes of earth rushing towards him with no way to escape, now a hint of fear could finally
be seen in his eyes.

But before the legion of earth spikes could get to him, something grab him from behind and sent him
out of the stadium.

 Awakening Ceremony

Today a special occasion is currently taking place in Lagos city, it's an occasion that only happens once in
a year, and through this occasion, the high school students of Lagos city always have the opportunity to
catch a glimpse of what the future have in store for them.

It's the awakening ceremony.

An event where young people at a certain age would be given special power and celebrated, a grand
event that takes a special place in the heart of humanity, and also the future of humanity.

They don't joke with it.

This event came to play after an unforgettable phenomenon happened on earth a century ago.
Something descended on earth.

It was a strange phenomenon that made people think perhaps, the world was coming to an end. It all
happened in the heart of Lagos City, a hundred years ago. A strange white pagoda suddenly appeared
out of nowhere below the sky, the white pagoda stood mid air for several days before slowly
descending, planting fear in the heart of the people. Thinking perhaps, the world is truly coming to an
end.

Countless rocket was sent to it by the elite scientist in the world, for exploration, but none of them
succeeded, they all vanished before getting there.

Until the pagoda finally landed at the heart of Lagos City, and several elite scientist from all over the
world were immediately sent to explore it and they found out that it pose no threat to the world.

The pagoda had no negative impact on earth, in fact, it only brought them greatness.

At first they found the pagoda useless after they found nothing special inside, no treasure or some other
magical stuffs was found, not until someone discovered a sleek obsidian mundane altar lying flatly in
what could be called the hall of the pagoda.

There was nothing special about the altar so most of the explorer had ignored it including the person
that discovered it, if not for the fact that a drop of his blood was mistakenly dropped on the altar and
then everything changed for the people of earth.
It turns that this mundane altar could grants humans a special power that makes them super human and
transcends their mortal limit, almost making them immortal.

And with this, the way of people of earth changed drastically with human wielding different kinds of
power.

Every fateful year, all high school students at the age of 16 to 18 will perform this ritual during the
awakening ceremony to awaken a special abilities that will aid them in the next journey of their life.

Over the years since the descent of the pagoda that human have instinctively named the Heavenly
Tower, they have made the awakening ritual a ceremony that must take place every single year in each
city on earth, and today, the same thing is happening.

The students of St. Caleb high school have gathered in the great hall of the school, both the year 2 and 3
students who are of course at the age of 16 to 18. They were all sitting in an orderly manner with the
principal of the school standing on a raised platform at the front and sitting to his right and left were
about 10 figures, both men and women all dressed in different yet distinguished attires. They all
represents the different powerhouses in Lagos City including the government, all here to supervise the
Awakening Ceremony in St. Caleb high school.

There are about 70 to 80 students in the hall, they are the ones who have qualified for the awakening
ritual, ther

Nobody knows when exactly the revelation will come to realIty, when the next pagoda will descend to
consume them, nobody knows when. And they had instinctively name it the Deathspawn.

Deathspawn is the unknown pagoda that will descend in the distant future, to consume the world.

Nara City had been made the capital of earth, because most of the strongest people on earth resides
there, and the Heavenly Tower is also situated in this city. And all government officials from different
cities as well as big families in each city are to come to Nara City to watch young people at the age of 16
get to awaken their special power.

And today, the same thing is happening.

"I wonder what power I would get. I hope it's an ability that would increase my football skills."

Emmy said, his excitement failing to be contained.

He sat among the crowd, his brother sitting closely besides him, his eye glued at the bald headed man
who was making a speech at the front of the hall, on the raised platform, he's one of the most powerful
people on earth.

"I wished you awaken like mine."

His brother, Sunny said, his gaze not moving away from the bald headed man.

There are about thirty five people sitting at the front of the hall, they all sat to the left of the raised
platform where the bald headed man was speaking, and right in front of the raised platform is a white
altar that shines brightly in the hall. These people are both the government officials from all the 5 cities
on earth, as well as the people from the big families on earth.

They are always in charge of the awaken ceremony.

The hall of the Heavenly Tower is a great one, large enough to contain thousands of people, and there
are currently countless people presents in the hall right now. Apart from the people sitting to the right
of the platform, there are another group of people sitting separately.

They are the young ones who are to be awakened, they all sat at the front of the hall, separated from
the crowd. There are about a couple hundreds of them, all from different cities. And their relatives are
the one sitting in the crowd.

"Hell no, that your useless ability, I don't want it."

Emmy replied to his brother. Emmy is also among the awakeners, but he had decided to sit among the
crowd with his brother, he couldn't leave his brother side, not until it was his turn to awaken.

"What do you know, my ability is just at the level two, how dare you say it's useless."

His brother retorted, finally moving his gaze away from the bald headed man who slowly walk off the
arena, another person walking onto it, now a woman, to make her own speech.

"That's exactly what I mean, how would awaken two years ago and still be stuck at the level two, it sucks
man, you should just forgo the ability and focus on your martial arts. Look at those people you awaken
together, they all doing well now."

Emmy said, in an arrogant manner.

"Shut up brat, what do you even know. Do you know how hard it is for someone to wield an ability the
world know nothing about, and without a manual at that."

Sunny said back in anger.

Emmy smile, but before he could say anything, the woman speaks, her voice booming over the hall,
almost as if it was being projected, sending shiver down Emmy's spine.

"Congratulations in advance to all the young awakeners present here."

The woman said, her voice traveling all around the hall.
"As you all have known that this awakening ceremony is an important event for us, and a way to build
our future generations. I won't waste time repeating what others have said during their speech, so let's
go to the main event."

"Let the awakening of the younger generation begin."

The woman said, stepping out of the platform. An old man emerge from behind the platform, holding a
small mechanic device in his hand, he walk up to the white altar, stood there for a few minutes with his
eyes closed, then a faint white glow shown on the small device on his hand, and the same thing started
happening to the platform in front of him.

A dozen seconds later, the entire platform was covered in white radiance, then the platform split
opened and then something started emerging from within the platform.

It was a large round but rough object, sleek white and shinning brightly, covered with the white radiance
that enveloped the platform. The object emerged completely, standing several feet's tall on the raised
platform.

Just as the object stood in front of the people present in the hall, the atmosphere changed immediately.

The people sitting to the right side of the platform didn't give any reaction, but the same couldn't be said
for the crowd and the awakeners.

Some of them wanted to throw up, while a few of them had the urge to run over to the platform and
hug the object tightly.

The feeling was suffocating, tempting and eerie.

It didn't last long though, because the white radiance shining around the platform was suddenly
extinguished, and so did the feeling.

Everyone let out a sigh of relief as the strange feeling disappeared.

"I never expected for the appearance of the divine rock to be this powerful and threatening."

Emmy said, sweat rolling down his forehead as he cough roughly, he was surprisingly on his knees, just
as many young people in the hall, sweating rapidly.

His brother, Sunny wipe the sweat on his own head as he looked at him.

"I thought you said you could endure the feeling when I told you about it."

Emmy didn't say anything, and just threw a quick glance at his brother before getting back on his seat.
He had indeed boosted that he could stand the suffocating power of the great pagoda, but he never
expected it to be this strong, he thought his brother was exaggerating things when he told him about it.

The man on the altar walk down, turn to the group of young awakeners and said.
"Now I'll be calling names of the young awakeners as it was registered."

"If you hear your name by any chance, come up to the altar and perform the awakening ritual."

The man said and started calling names. The first person to be called was a young girl from somewhere
that Emmy didn't know, but regardless, he was captivated by her beauty. The girl had an apple shaped
face, puppy eyes and a pointy nose, her pale skin shine brightly and her black her flow flawlessly as she
walk up to the altar.

"Wow such a definition of beauty."

Emmy said, his eyes shining brightly with stars.

"Don't even think about it, or else Alice will roast you alive."

Sunny said, also staring at the young lady, who's now listening to the man's talk on the altar, probably
explaining the process of the ritual to her. Emmy didn't need to pay attention to that though, because
his brother had explained everything to him thoroughly, before coming here.

He turn to his brother and said.

"Hey, I never liked her, you're the who should build your confidence and tell her your feelings. She like
me but I didn’t like her."

"You bastard, how dare you say such a thing. Hypocrite, you always warned me not to get close to her."

His brother retorted, his hand pointed at him.

Emmy didn't say anything, but smiled instead and turn to the altar, watching as the girl perform the
ritual.

She kneeled on the white altar after listening to the man, she bowed her head on the altar in front of
the divine rock, three times. Then after the third bowed, the man walked up to her, gave her a small
knife which she immediately used to slash her finger before the man moves back.

The young lady let a drop of her blood on the altar, and then remained in the same position for a few
seconds before a bright radiance suddenly appeared around the rock, then the bright radiance swirl and
move towards the girl on the altar.

It envelope her whole body and started bringing her to her feet, then the radiance lifted the girl up and
bring her closer to the divine rock.

She remained in front of the rock for more than half a minute, her hair was standing up, her organs
waking up, her blood flowing freely and her body stood strong. The people outside couldn't see what
was happening as she was covered in the bright radiance, but many of them already know the feeling,
she was returned to the white altar after thirty seconds, only now, her appearance had been altered
Her black flowing hair had turned silvery, sleek and shining brightly.

The young lady had awakened her ability.

Shattered Hope

There are different ways for people to know that someone had awakened without the use of their
power. The most rare and simplest way is the altering of the person's appearance, others are the used
of some methods and the demeanor of the person.

But there are people who could tell from just a glance.

Some abilities altered people's appearance, it could be a permanent change or temporary, it depends on
the ability. Some of the permanent changes are the changing in hair's colors, eyes color or the skin,
these are always some powerful potent abilities. While the temporary changes is the transformation of
the person's body part. It could be the arm, the leg, or even the head, these are mostly transformation
abilities.

But the looking at the change in the girl's hair, it is clear that she had obtained one of those powerful
abilities.

"I wonder what type of ability she got."

Emmy muttered, staring at the girl as she walked down the altar, the next person approaching it without
wasting a second.

"You'll know in the future when Alice confront her for wanting to snatch you from her."

His brother commented.

The second person to walk onto the altar was also a girl, she did the ritual as the first person had done
and the same thing happened to her. She was also taken to the divine rock by the bright radiance, but
she didn't have any physical alteration like the first girl, only that she had spent a few seconds later than
the first girl with the rock. And thus, only her knows if she had awakened her ability, as well as the
organizers and the powerful people present their.

Someone like Emmy, his brother and many people in the crowd didn't know if she had succeed in
awakening her power.

The awakening ceremony continue and the result was somehow making Emmy feel nervous. Apart from
the first girl, none of them had had their appearance altered, but many of them succeed with their
ritual, although, that doesn't prove if they had awakened an ability, but since the light had shone on
them means something.

Only a few unfortunate ones among them that the light did not shine on, even after some of them
nearly offer all of their blood to the altar, the rock never reacted. And that's exactly what made Emmy
more nervous.

"Hey brat, don't be scared, your brother awakened an ability, why won't you. Just calm yourself and
prepare when it's your turn."

His brother said, trying his best to calm him down. He had also felt the same way two years ago when
almost half of his mate failed to be picked by the light, he had thought he would also meet the same
fate and live his life without an ability.

But surprisingly, he got an ability, not only that but his appearance also got a permanent change, which
means he got a powerful ability, although, it's simply useless for him now as he know next to nothing
about it, but he still had hopes.

His black hair and eyebrows had always been gold like Emmy's, but it changed two years ago after
getting his ability. Just like him, many others also had their appearance altered two years ago, but the
same is not happening here.

Apart form the first girl, no one else has gotten their appearance altered, although, the number of
people that failed to be picked by the light is not closed to half of those, two years ago. But Sunny
couldn't help but worry for his brother.

"Do you know what city that girl is from."

Emmy suddenly asked.

"I can only guess she's from Lagos City, as that's the first city on the list this year, so they're probably
calling people from that city. And you brat, don't you dare getting close to her, she's no match for you."

Sunny replied, warning his brother.

"No, I just feel like something is special about her."

Emmy said, not battling an eye from the girl.

"Wow, my dumb little brother can even sense something now, interesting."

His brother joked.

"Emmy Krane from Nara City."

Emmy heard his name came from the altar, he look up and saw the man standing there alone. It was his
time to awaken.
He glance at his brother before walking up.

"Wish me luck, brother."

He said, and with that, Emmy approach the altar, his heart racing faster than before. He never knew he
would be this nervous when coming up to the altar.

Emmy wasted no time doing what others have done, he kneeled on the altar, bowed his head three
times, before the man slip a small knife into his hand.

He slashed his palm with the knife and squeezed his blood on the altar.

For a couple dozen seconds, there was nothing but then, the white radiance appeared around the rock,
swirl for a few seconds before heading towards Emmy, who smile faintly as he was enveloped by the
radiance.

The light moves him towards the divine rock, and remained there for a full minute, there was nothing
during that minute, he couldn't feel anything. His brother had explained to him that he would feel an
unknown faint energy in his body, moving up from the depth of his soul, he described the energy to be
calm and flow with his blood. Also, he would feel his hair standing up, his organs coming alive than ever
and his blood flowing freely.

But Emmy felt nothing of sort right here and now. He couldn't feel anything, so he calm down and
waited a bit more, hoping that he would feel that thing his brother talked about. Since he had been
picked by the light means he would be granted an ability.

If anything, he had the urge to take a nap under the embrace of the white radiance, and so he did.

Still held close to the divine rock by the light, hoping that the feeling would come, Emmy failed to notice
what was happening beyond the embrace of the radiance.

"How long has it been."

One of the young awakeners asked.

"Close to five minutes, I guess.'

Another replied. The 35 people at the front of the hall were also wondering why the boy was spending
too much time there, but the man had told them not to worry.

Emmy had indeed spent closed to five minutes in front of the rock, the highest someone had spent there
is one and the half minutes, and for everything in total including the ritual is two and the half minutes,
so why is he spending so much time there.

Oblivion to what was happening outside, Emmy's eye started closing up and the next moment, he was
embraced by darkness.
His eyes opened not long after, only to find himself being taking back to the altar by the light, and when
he gain his focused, he saw something slightly blocking his line of sight, and with a closer inspection, he
only managed to make out a few details before he was distracted.

[Congratulations, you have been....

"Move back."

The man's voice make him loose his focus, and Emmy couldn't help but quickly walk down the altar,
wondering what he had seen.

He slowly walk down to join other young awakeners who had gone through the ritual, they're all sitting
opposite those that had not gone through it, so he walk up to them, but before he could sit down, his
brother rush over to him, shouting his name.

"Emmy, Emmy, what happened."

Sunny shouted, rushing over to Emmy's side.

"Brother, I don't think I have awakened an ability."

Emmy said with a sad face, tears almost falling off his face, he did his best to hide his well up face from
his brother.

"How is that possible? You spent close to fifteen minutes in front of the great pagoda, how come."

His brother said, keeping his voice low.

Emmy raised an eyebrow, surprised.

"Close to fifteen minutes? Has anything like that happened before?"

"No."

Sunny replied, shaking his head.

Emmy didn't know what to say, how had he spent that amount of time with the great pagoda but didn't
got an ability, how?

He look at his brother, then look down again, he didn't want him to see his sad face. Although, Emmy
had the urge to cry out loud while resting his head on his brother's shoulder, but he couldn't do it here.

His hope of becoming the best footballer had been shattered.

Emmy had always been training very hard to become the best, it's even because of football that he had
neglected anything that requires him to fight, that's something for his brother.
He's one of the best players in his school team, but when paired against ability users, he would barely be
noticed on the field, because abilities makes them almost super human, either useless abilities or not,
their overall strength will be above of someone without an ability. Only ability users are meant to play
for the school team, but those who hadn't go for the awakening ceremony will be trained to see what
they can do in the future after getting an ability.

So Emmy had always train very hard, more than anyone else, so that he would be unmatched after
getting an ability. The coach always had great hope in him and even told him that he would become the
best player in the team if he managed to awaken an ability.

But what about now?

Emmy couldn't help but be sad.

Sunny seeing the sad face on his face hugged him tightly and whisper into his ear as something, seen by
no one slip off from his body and attached beneath Emmy's feet.

"Everyone that fail to awaken their ability, they take them into a separate room. I don't know what
happens in that room, but I'll make sure to protect you."

Sunny said, as he pushed his brother back to his seat and walk back into the crowd.

What To Do

The awakening ceremony ended in the afternoon, and as at that time, everyone of them has perform
the ritual.

They were all shared into different groups, and there are four groups in total, probably according to the
strength of the ability they have awakened or something else. The girl who had gotten her appearance
altered, surprisingly stood alone, and a few meters away from her were a group of 50 or so awakeners,
they're the second to the largest group.

And not too far from them stood more than a hundred awakeners, the largest in the group. Just behind
everyone of them stood the last group, they're surprisingly not up to 20 in numbers, Emmy could also be
seen among them, and of course, they're the one who failed to awaken their ability.

Emmy didn't know how they had shared them into groups, but he guess that it related to the nature of
the ability they had awakened, and it seems the first one to perform ritual awakened a unique ability
and she's standing alone.
What confused Emmy is the number of people who had failed to awakened their ability, they're
surprisingly small. He had thought they'll be 50 of them or so, but they're barely up to 20. What even
shocked him the most is that among those who failed to awakened, he was the only one who got picked
by the light. Others either did not get picked or the light did not shine on them at all.

That puzzle him a lot.

He's sure that he didn't awaken an ability but why was he picked by the light, not only that, but he also
spent the most tine under the embrace of the light.

It doesn't make sense at all.

"Ah..."

Emmy sighed, still confused and sad about everything, and he still remembered that strange words he
saw after waking up from being passed out.

"I still have to ask Sunny a lot of things."

He muttered under his breathe, now he had to deal with the matter at hands, because just at that
moment, an older man approach his group and the same could be said to the order groups. The man on
the platform speaks.

"Those who had awakened their ability will be given manual to know more about their ability and
increase their power, you'll also be given a wristwatch to track the level of your ability. If it's an ability
we haven't seen before, you'll have to spend more time with the officials for them to learn about it and
create manual for you."

The man continued.

"As for those who failed to awakened their ability, you'll be examined to see if you can have a chance
next year. Follow the people in front of you."

Emmy sigh as they started walking behind the old man.

Sitting among the crowd, Sunny watch closely as his brother was taken away with other awakeners, he
felt unease. Back then when he had came for his own ceremony two years ago, they had done the same
thing they're doing now. Anybody that awakened a new ability that hasn't been recorded, will spend
more time with the officials to study the ability and create a manual. The same thing had happened to
him, but even after spending close to two days with the officials, they were unable to learn anything
about his ability, so they had no choice but to leave him with his own device.

That's actually not what made him worried today, not even the fact that Emmy failed to awakened an
ability, he could protect him from bullies so he's not worried about him not being able to awaken an
ability. But what made him worry was that his brother and others who failed to awakened their ability
has been taken away, into a different room from others.
Although, that's how they always do it every year, people who fail to awakened an ability will be taken
away for examination, at least, that's what the public know, while in reality, they were being killed,
slowly.

Sunny had always wondered why people who failed to awakened their ability always die one by one
after the ceremony, he only found out two years ago after his close friend also failed to awakened an
ability.

That friend of his committed suicide a week after the ceremony, he had noticed that his behavior had
changed after the ceremony, he always feel down, but Sunny had thought it's because he failed to
awakened an ability, so he didn't pay much attention to it and always try to cheer him up.

Not until the boy die a week later that Sunny suspected what really happened.

He found out that since the ordering of the awakening ceremony, even with the fact that more than a
couple decades of people failed to awaken their ability each year, they always died some days after the
ceremony.

They either committed suicide, die from depression or take too much of drugs, that's the pattern these
people die. And if you ask why, they'll always said they couldn't continue living as a no ability trash,
getting bullied and humiliated everyday, so they commit suicide.

Sunny only realized that this is a made up story after his friend committed suicide two years ago, they
claimed he got bullied everyday, while in reality, nobody dare to bully him, with Sunny by his side
everyday, nobody dare to bully him. And his friend is an ambitious person, he could never attempt
suicide. He had said it before the ceremony that if he failed this year, he would try again next year, if he
fail next year, he would try again another year and another until he couldn't try again.

That's what he had said a day before the ceremony, and his friend attitude had changed right after the
ceremony. Then he look into it and found out that everyone that failed the awakening always have this
mood swings before their death. And that's how he suspected that something fishy was going on.

Whatever they're giving them for the so called examination is what kills them.

It's only his suspicious though, but whichever way, he won't let what happened to his friend two years
ago happen to his brother today.

Emmy and the others blindly followed the man behind, not knowing what fate awaits them, although his
brother had told him to be careful, but he still haven't found anything suspicious, until the man led them
into a room, filled with medical beds. The room was big, cozy and all painted in white, it looks like an
hospital with several medical equipment all around it.

But that's not what shocked Emmy, it was the fact that the people besides him started falling one by one
as they entered the room, they started passing out as they collapsed on the floor. His heart sink.
'What's going on? Is this what Sunny mean?'

He turned to look at the man who brought them him, the man smile brightly and said.

"Don't worry, it's part of the examination."

The man said, but Emmy barely hear him as he staggered, and something block his line of sight.

[Host is being affected by a toxic sleeping smoke]

[Host will eventually pass out if you inhale it further more]

And so he did, he simply fell like everyone else and pass out.

The man let out a sigh of relief.

"Ah, I thought he's like that boy from two years ago, I can't go through that again."

"Bring them in."

The man said as he walk forward, and several figures emerge from the shadows, they approach the
bunch of students that lie on the floor and started taking them onto the bed one after another.

As one of the men carry Emmy on his shoulder, he failed to notice a shadow that slip off his body and
quickly hide among the shadows of the medical equipment.

After everyone of them had been placed silently on the bed, the man began working while the men
stood behind the door and turn invisible. He moved one of the medical equipment to the middle of the
room, the equipment had a medical tray on it with several black and yellow serum syrups scattered all
over it. Close to the tray of syrups was another medical tray, this had several pills carefully placed on it.

The man move towards the first child and the large medical equipment follow behind him, the person
the man approach was a young black skinned boy, and just as the man stopped in front of him, a
fluorescent light shone on the boy from above. Then the man picked up syrup and injected it on his
forehead, slowly as the serum was released into his body, then he placed two of the pills on the other
tray in the boy's mouth.

Everything he did took him no more than a couple minutes, and after placing the pills in the boy's
mouth, and walk to the next person while the fluorescent light shining above the boy focused on his
forehead.
 Don't Touch My Brother

Sunny almost stumbled on his sit when he saw what the man had done to the boy, he tried his best to
keep himself from shouting and held his mouth shut.

'What?'

Now it all made sense to him, this is what they do to those who failed to awakened every year, but why?
Why are they killing them.

Sunny could only guess that they don't want weak people in this world because the future held no good.
But what right did they have to kill innocent kids, they should leave them to see and face what the
future has to offer.

'We won't tolerate weakness in our world, we only need strong people that could protect us from the
future calamity.'

He suddenly remembered the speech made by one of the big family. Is that what they mean by not
tolerating weakness in the world. It doesn't makes sense.

'Now I understand what that stinky old man always tell me.'

He didn't have time to think much though, because Emmy is on the sixth bed and it only took that man a
couple minutes to do his dirty job, he only had ten minutes to save his brother from meeting the same
fate with his friend.

With his useless ability, Sunny could get into the room in mere seconds, but he needs shadows to do
that. The room was well lit and there were next to no shadows available, the only shadows in the hall
was cast by the great pillars in the hall, but he couldn't use them as they're all surrounded by the crowd,
so he excuse himself and do as if he's going to the rest room.

He move out of the great hall and walk through the alleyway the awakeners had passed through. He
quicken his pace and started looking around, looking for any shadow that could transport him to the
room.

He walk fast and steady, while also trying his best not to look any suspicious, he walk for about 8
minutes before finally finding a source of shadow that would transport him to his brother, he quickened
his pace and approach the source.
Funnily enough, the shadow he found happens to cast by the girl who had first perform the awakening
ritual, the girl who had her hair changed to silver, she happens to have come out from one of the rooms
when Sunny found her, probably the room she was taken to.

Sunny walk faster and approach her from behind, trying his best not to look like a stalker or raised any
suspicious, but it also seemed like the girl have noticed him as she keep throwing a furtive glance behind
her. Her shadow was slightly behind her, so Sunny had to be close enough before using it.

The girl suddenly quickened her pace and as Sunny noticed this, he did not hesitate before picking a race
and run after her, then when the girl turn around, probably to confront him, he simply sink into her
shadow and vanished.

"Huh, where is he."

She look around in confusion, she had clearly seen someone following her from behind but why did he
suddenly disappeared.

"I'm sure he's that guy staring at me in the hall, but why did he disappeared, or am I seeing things?"

Back in the room, the man had just finished doing the same thing to the person on the fifth bed,
injecting her with the serum and placed two pills in her mouth, then he move to the next person on the
sixth bed. But just as he was about to touch him, he suddenly sense a movement among the shadows of
the equipment gathered at the edge of the room. Before he could register what was going on, a human
shadow emerged and what follow next was....

"Don't touch my brother!!!"

The man didn't have enough time to react as the shadow suddenly shouted, and what follow next was a
punch to his head. Thankfully enough, he was able to block it with his hand, but the momentum still
send him reeling back. Before the figures hiding behind the door could move, the young man who had
emerged from the shadows grabbed the boy on the fifth bed, then they both vanished.

"Get them, they must not go!!"

The man shouted, his body shaking from both fear and disbelief.

'Who was that, how did he find out.'

He thought, trying to get on his feet.

'I must report this now.'

"Someone did what?"

A bald headed man shouted as he smash his fist on the table, it was the same bald headed man who had
made speech earlier before the awakening ritual begin. He is currently sitting with six other people
around a spherical table, five men and a woman, with him making them seven in total. There's also
someone else in the room, he was on his knees shaking and sweating profusely as he talk.

"I didn’t know how he found out, but he took one of the boys with him."

The man said, he voice shaking. Of course, it was the same man who was with Emmy and others who
had failed to awakened their ability, he was currently in the room with the leaders of the seven big
families in the world.

The bald headed man, an old man with round face and red long hair with red puppy eyes, a very young
man with sharp face and blue flowing hair. There's another older man with wrinkles all over his face, he
had grey hair with a calm yet distant expression on his face, the last two men had yellow and white hair
respectively, they don't have anything special apart from the somber expression on their face. And
lastly, the only woman among them, she had long black eyebrows, delicate face and a black veil covering
her delicate face, her hair was neatly packed back, a black feather hand fan rested on her arm.

These are the seven pillars of humanity with the government.

The bald headed man speaks again.

"Could you describe that person?"

He asked coldly, making the man shiver.

"I didn’t get to see him clearly as he appeared unannounced, but he came through the shadows, and the
boy he saved was the one who spent several minutes in front of the great pagoda but did not awakened
an ability."

The man explained, his gaze falling down.

"Interesting, to think that the one we should have discarded a couple years ago would come back to give
us a problem."

The red haired old man said.

"Yeah, I remembered we found nothing about that ability."

The woman among then said, blowing herself with the black feather hand fan in her hand, then she look
at the youngest man among them and asked.

"Were you not the one who said not to get rid of him."

The man look around, then pointed at himself and smile.

"Me? Well, because we didn't get anything about his ability doesn't mean he's completely useless, we
could still exploit his ability in the future and can easily discard him if the ability is useless."

He said, a gentle smile on his face.

"Also why do you guys seemed disturbed by the fact that someone knows that we are behind the fate
that befell people who failed."

The man asked.

"Should we not be disturbed? Nobody knows we are doing this to help them and brace ourselves for the
future to keep it safe, if those weak people get to witness the descent of the deathspawn, they would
not only die miserably, but also become a burden. And you know that if word of what we are doing gets
out, the world will see us as a villain."

The grey haired man said.

The young man with blue hair smile again, and said.

"Let them see us as villain, it's not as if they can dare to go against us, and when did you people start to
care about what the world think of us."

"You sure lack any experience as the young master of Empyrean family, did you know that the world
would be scared to attend the awakening ceremony or send their children here if words get out, which
would affect the future."

The bald headed man said with a cold voice.

"Well, it's not entirely bad that the boy find out. We can use it as an opportunity to cleared off the
suspicious the world had on us, I mean only a fool will not suspect that we had something to do with
those death. But now that the boy found out, we should spare those students who hadn't been injected,
make them live and attend the ceremony again next year."

"If the world see that they live, they would believe what we wants them to believe without any
suspicious. And the boy who boldly infiltrate the lab, we should keep an eye on him."

Scary Grandfather
Several minutes later, Emmy could be seen lying on a small bunk bed in a dimly lit room, the room is
incredibly small with most of the space taken by the luggage. Sunny could be seen sitting by his side,
staring at him with a distant expression on his face.

Now that he had brought his brother home safely, he started thinking about the consequences of his
action. He knew the man had seen how he emerge from the shadow, and knowing that he's the only
who had that type of ability, they will surely come for him.

He just hope they wouldn't.

All he wanted was to save his brother, he didn't wish for them to make an enemy of the powerful
people in the world.

Just as he was deep in his thought, Emmy slowly opened his eyes. For a moment, all he could see was
the blurry image of his brother, who sat besides him, staring blankly into the air. Then, slowly, his vision
became clearly, but his head hurts.

"Sunny?"

He called, a hint of confusion tinted in his voice. If he could remember well, the last thing he saw was
some kind of text in his line of sight, telling him something about passing out. That happened right after
he followed that man into the room with other students in the awakening ceremony.

'Why did everyone pass out, and why am I back in our room.'

He thought, but thankfully enough, the person that would likely have an answer to that question is right
here sitting before him.

Sunny turned around after hearing his name.

"Hey, you're awake. How are you feeling."

He asked, placing his palm on his forehead, trying to check his temperature.

"Stop it, I'm alright."

Emmy said as he moves his brother's hand away, feeling a little embarrassed. Then he got up and asked.

"What happened, why am we here, has the ceremony ended?"

Emmy asked, staring at his brother intently.

"It's a long story."

Sunny said, as he turn back, staring into the air.

He continued.
"You remember how I told you that something strange is going on in the heavenly tower....."

He explained everything to Emmy, starting from his suspicious from two years ago after his friend died
when he failed to awakened an ability. He made it clear that everyone who failed to awakened an ability
meets the same fate after the awakening ceremony. Of course, everyone knew about this fact, but their
beliefs is different. They all thought that they died because they're weak, making them believe that this
world is really not for the weak.

Sunny explained what they had been doing to those poor students throughout these years, and made
him aware that Emmy himself was only a couple minutes away from meeting the same fate.

"If not for your incredible brother."

Sunny said, punching his chest.

Emmy seemed to be dumbfounded as he kept quite for as long as a minute last. Eventually, he sigh and
said.

"If what you're saying is true, then they will surely come for us. What do we do now?"

He asked.

"That's exactly what I'm thinking before you wake up."

His brother said, his expression distant.

Emmy move closer to him and sit upright.

"But it's still hard to believe that they're actually doing that, I mean, what for? I still don't understand
their reason behind this."

Emmy said.

"My only guess is that they don't wish to keep weak people alive in this world, because of what the
future holds. They all believe that anyone that don't possess an ability is weak, but that's where they're
wrong because not all abilities are useful. Look at my own now, although, not entirely useless, but I'm
only among the strongest in school thanks to my martial arts skills."

Sunny paused for a while, then continued.

"I mean, everyone can also do the same if enough training is provided, so I don't even see the need of
ability in the first place. Yes, some abilities are incredible and makes someone super human, but still..."

"It seems you're starting to show yourself as a disciple of grandfather, his words are really getting to
you."

Emmy interrupted him.

"Let's not talk about him."

Sunny said with a strange look on his face.

"Now how do we deal with the matter at hands? I'm sure they will likely send someone after us, but
that's not even the problem now. As long as they did not step in themselves and didn't send a high
ability user, everything will be under control. But we need to make people believe that you have
awakened an ability. That's the only way you can live."

He said.

"And how do we do that, don't tell me I'll be going around and tell people I have an ability whenever
they asked?"

Emmy asked, an expression of disbelief on his face.

"Of course that's the best option, but what ability can we use. We need to pick an ability that you're
better at. Elementary abilities are out of it, ranged abilities are also out. What.."

"I'll just go for super speed, my speed is already above that of people around my age, so I can say that
it's currently low at the moment. But are you sure it will work? And how long can we keep it for?"

Emmy asked, disheartened that he'll have to put up a fake like.

"It will surely work, once we get an ability measure wristwatch, fake one to be precise, we won't have
problem. And we won't keep it for long, you just have to grow stronger fast enough so you can live
freely."

Sunny said.

Emmy thought about it for a while, then he suddenly said.

"You seemed to be forgetting something. Did you remember that device they used in school to rank
students, that device cannot only tell people's strength, but it can also detect abilities."

Emmy said, his finger resting on his lips thoughtfully.

"You're right, damn. They'll surely try to measure your strength again to update the rank after the
awakening ceremony, damn."

Sunny complained.

"What do we do now?"

Emmy asked with a sad expression on his face.

His brother kept quiet for a minutes before finally speaking.

"I think we'll have to ask that old man for help."

Sunny said dejectedly.

Emmy stare at him with wide eyes.

"You mean...you want grandfather to create a talisman for me. But that's a bad idea, he'll ask to take me
in as his disciple in return."

Emmy said, his eyes widened.

"But we don't have a choice, he's the only one we can bet on. And about him taking you as his disciple,
that's something we'll have to deal with in the future."

Sunny replied.

Both of them didn't like the idea of asking their grandfather for help, but they both knew they had no
choice. Their grandfather was one of the best monks alive before the descent of heavenly tower, he had
lived more than a century and knows more about the world than most people. He live in a temple on the
mountain where he take in disciples and teach them martial arts and how to harness their inner energy.

Sunny had also been his disciple once, before the death of their parents. Their grandfather bore a great
hatred against the heavenly tower and the people who use its power and convince everyone to use it.
He wish for nothing but the so called officials and big families to disappeared with the heavenly tower.

Both Emmy and his brother didn't like him because of his cruel behavior and harsh training, in fact,
Sunny didn't wish for Emmy to go through what he had gone through while training in the temple, that's
why he had asked his parents to refrain their grandfather from taking Emmy as his disciple. Although,
Sunny became one of the strongest in his school through that harsh training, but he still don't want his
brother to go through the same thing.

And now that they needed their grandfather's help, they already know what he would ask for in return.
He would even be happy if he learn that Emmy failed to awaken an ability, that would make his training
to become harsher and more intense.

"I'm scared of that man."

Emmy muttered under his breathe.

"You should like him more, he always treat you well. He hated me more because I left the temple
without completing my training. You can see that he always pay my bills a few days after paying yours."

Sunny said, looking into the distance.

He had indeed flee the temple without completing his training. He had been living in the temple since
the age of seven, doing nothing but intense training. He stay in the temple for three years and ran away
at the age of ten, move back to his parents after missing his little brother, and from there, he never
return to the temple again.

Their parents died a couple years after, their grandfather had asked to take them in and take care of
them, but they both disagree. Their grandfather had been taking care of them from distance since the
death of their parents, paying their school fees, clearing their bills and giving them monthly money. He
also visits them time to time and always ask to take them in, but they never agreed.

Sunny had always claimed that the man hate him while Emmy will hide behind his brother, saying the
man is scary.

"But I don't think he hate you though, he's just mad at you that you left the temple without his
permission and never return. If he really hate you, he wouldn't have come to congratulates you two
years ago after you awakened an ability."

Emmy commented.

"Yeah that's right, he would come to congratulate too, that means we don't need to go to him. We'll just
explain the situation to him here and ask for his help."

Sunny said happily.

Emmy looked down dejectedly, then sighed.

"Does that mean I'll really have to put up a fake life?"

He said.

"It seemed you're more angry at the fact that you'll have to put up an act than the fact that you fail to
awakened an ability. Aren't you scared that you won't be able to play football again? And what really
happened when you were in front of the heavenly tower, you spent more time than anyone else, how
come you didn't awaken an ability, did you really feel nothing inside you?"

His brother asked, worried. Emmy had spent close to fifteen minutes during his ritual, something that
hasn't happened before, and yet he didn't get an ability, that made his brother worried alot.

"I also didn't know what happened right there."

Emmy said, now with a more serious expression.

"At first, I was trying to sense the feeling you talked about, but it never came, I tried and tried until I
suddenly fell asleep, I think."

"You did what?"

His brother asked in disbelief.

"Fell asleep, but when I woke up and got back on the altar, I saw something strange."
 The Football System

"At first, when I saw it on the altar, I didn't understand what it was. I just see some text in my line of
sight, shining brightly, I didn't get to read the content of the text as I was distracted by the man on the
platform. And since then, the text never show up again, until..."

Emmy paused, making his brother leaned forward in curiosity, his gaze sharp and not wavering, clearly
urging him to continue.

Emmy shrugged and continued.

"Until I got into that room with the others and that man, you know I told you everyone around me
started falling down as soon as we got into that room with the man, I was the one who fell last. But
before that, the shimmering text appeared again."

"Its says something like; I was being affected by a toxic sleeping smoke and I don't have enough
resistance against it, that I would pass out if I inhale any further. That's when I eventually fell and pas
out."

Sunny suddenly stand up, stare at him and said.

"Wait....you saw some shimmering text in your sight, like a screen of some sort."

Emmy nodded which made his brother's lips curled up, his eyes widened as he said.

"System...it's a system, you awakened a system."

Sunny said, jumping up happily like someone who had just won a jackpot. Meanwhile, Emmy had a
troubled look on his face.

"A system? That only exists in fantasy novels."

He said.

"Idiot, what about our abilities, isn't something that exists in the same fantasy novels as well?"

His brother said, still smiling happily.

"But have you seen or heard of anyone that awakened a system before?"

Emmy asked, still confused.

"What about my own ability, have you ever seen or heard of anyone in possession of it before? The
tower have clearly chosen us by giving us something different."

His brother said happily. Emmy slightly shook his head.

"But still, why did the organizers not know that I have awakened something."

Emmy said again, but this time, his brother yelled at him in frustration.

"How does that matter?"

Sunny shouted, clearly annoyed.

"Just summon the damn system and let's see what it has to offer."

He said, making Emmy lower his head and said.

"I don't know how to."

He said, his head slightly lowered.

"Ah, this dumb brother of mine. Don't you read those system novels the most, try something out for
f*ck sake."

Sunny yell again, frustration building up.

"Okay, calm down, will you? I'll try something."

Trying to calm himself down, Emmy took a deep breath and thought.

'System interface'

And then, a light blue system screen appeared in his line of sight, with different characters shimmering
on it.

"Oh wow, it appears on my first try."

He said happily, he thought he would have to try countless times before it appears, but surprisingly, it
appeared on his first try.

"Yeah, go through it, quickly."

Sunny said in anticipation.

Emmy slowly scanned the system with his eyes, there are a different characters shimmering on it, they
look like notifications so he decided to check the first one.

“Huh? A football system? Peak."

Emmy said with a smirk on his face, making his brother's curiosity grow further.

The notifications ended there and Emmy wasted no time giving a command and the main menu popped
up immediately. There are about five different characters on the main menu with each of them having a
tab below it, meaning they have more to offer.

An energy point is the fuel that power ones ability, without an energy point, the person's ability will be
useless. There's a certain amount of energy point granted when a person first awakened their ability,
and it always increase as the person level up their ability.
If someone runs out of energy point, the person's ability will stop working, it's just like when someone
literally runs out of energy, they won't be able to do anything.

And Emmy seeing that he has zero energy point, he thought he won't be able to use the system for now,
but nevertheless, he continue his exploration.

The next in the line is attributes.

His lips curled into a smirk, as he thought of attending the awakening ceremony again next year. Sunny
seeing the smile on his brother's lips couldn't help but smile himself.

Now there's only one character tab left on the menu, the one he was reluctant to opened but had no

before getting all the power the system has to offer, there's a price he must pay he just hope it won't be

Emmy didn't have problem with the daily quest, since it's all related to football, he would do anything.
And luckily enough, his daily quest for this week is based on agility and speed, which means, by the end
of this weak, his speed would have increase incredibly after gaining so much points.

"Now I won't have to worry about someone finding out that I really don't have an ability."
He said.

"I can see that you're happy, now tell, what is it?"

Sunny said, finally sitting next to him.

Emmy started explaining what he had seen on the system to his brother, not leaving any detail out. His
brother couldn't help but left his mouth opened in awe as Emmy explained everything to him.

"I'm sure there would be more rewards in the future that will take my skills to gods level, I just can't
wait."

Emmy said, excited.

"Now you should really think about learning martial arts, you could become the strongest just like those
MC from the novels."

Sunny said, Emmy shook his head immediately.

"No let's not talk about that right now, when is grandfather coming."

He asked.

"I thought you don't wanna see him before, don't tell me you're now eager."

Sunny teased.

"You know he's my only ticket into the school team."

Emmy replied, and just at that moment, the door slip opened and coming into play was a middle aged
man who looked to be in his late forties. He wore an ancient red robe with a yellow scarf hanging across
his shoulder. He had a long black hair that flow downward freely and a single long twisted beard could
be seen on his jaw, his eyes are sharp and gentle with a parallel nose.

"Were you guys talking about him?"

The man said as he enter with a warm smile on his face.

"Huh...grandfather?"

"Old man."

Both Emmy and Sunny said at the same time, surprised while hiding their displeasure and hatred under
the facade of excitement.

On a normal basis, he's always met with cold faces, anger and displeasure, they don't always welcome
him anytime he came to visit, even sometimes with gifts. But really, the man didn't really do anything to
offend them, they are just being childish. The grudge and hatred they have towards him is all but
childish.

Sunny dislike him from the start because of the harsh training he had put him through while he was on
the mountain with him, the man didn't even treat him like his grandchild back then, he treats him no
different from other disciples, not even a single special treatment was given to him, so Sunny had always
hated him.

While Emmy on other hand, well, let's just say because of the different stories he had heard from his
brother, and because the man wanted to take them under his wings. So he also dislike him to some
extent.

But it was all but childish.

The man himself seemed taken aback from the way he was welcome today, it's strange.

He look at Sunny, seeing the large grin on his face, he look at Emmy, the same thing could be seen on his
face. His heart thump and his face has gone a slight shade of red.

'What's wrong with this children, they're making me feel shy.'

He cleared his throat and said.

"What's with you guys today? I can see that you failed to awaken an ability but you look happy instead
of being sad. Are you perhaps ready to be my disciple? Did you finally let go of football?"

A Talisman

Both Emmy and Sunny were not surprised that their grandfather already know that he failed to
awakened an ability, after all, he's a powerful monk and could distinguish who possess an ability from
who don't, just by looking at them, so they weren't surprised.

But really, are they seeing things or has the man's face actually turn a shade of red, no that cannot be.

Sunny couldn't help but said.

"Old man, your...face."

He said, pointing at their grandfather's face.

"What's wrong with my face."

He asked, rubbing his palm on his face.

"Look, it's red."

It was Emmy who answered with a shard of mirror pointed at him. The man look into the mirror, only to
away look away in embarrasment.

He cleared his throat and said.

"Hmm, you guys flatter me. When did last see you two smile at me like this, especially you Sunny, you've
never smile at me before, not even once. So I can't help it, you know."

The two siblings couldn't help but burst into laughter at the sight of their gentle but cold hearted
grandfather shy like this.

After laughing for a little while, they both stop as their grandfather stare at them with a serious look.
Suspecting that he had something important to say, they both stop and decided to focus.

The old man faced Emmy and started speaking as they stop,

"Seeing that you're fine and doing well must means two things. It's either you didn't attend the
awakening ceremony which I'm sure cannot never happen, giving your ambition on getting an ability.
Or..."

He paused, his gaze moving between the two of them.

"Or you guys already know what's going on within the ceremony."

"What do you mean?"

Sunny was the one to speak, looking stunned.

"I'm sure you already know. Now that it has come to this, I should warn you guys-"

"I still don't understand what you mean."

The man was interrupted by Sunny who speak with a commanding tone.

"The fate that befell everyone who failed to awakened an ability, and what the organizers did to them.
I'm sure you already know about it, seeing that Emmy is doing well here."

The old man said with a calm, stern voice.

Now it was Emmy who reply him as he suddenly got on his feet, pointing a shaky finger at him.

"You wicked man, don't tell me you knew about it before and didn't mention anything to us, you didn't
even stop me from attending the ceremony despite knowing that I could die."

Emmy said in anger.

"Would you have listened if I try to stop you from attending the ceremony. I mean, you're always crazy
about getting an ability and become the beat footballer."

The old man replied.

"Let's say I won't listen, but you should have prepared something for me beforehand, or come to the
ceremony with us."

Emmy said again, still angry.

"The day I enter the heavenly tower will be the end of it, and I never knew you will be useless and failed
to awakened an ability. More importantly, I'm sure your great brother and my disciple will save you
without thinking twice."

The man said with a smile.

Emmy pointed his finger again, wanting to say something, but his brother stopped him as he speaks.

"But you should've mention something to us, you should've warned us and tell us your worries. What if I
wasn't smart enough to have look into the matter and save him at the last seconds, you know I would've
lost my only brother."

Sunny said with a stern voice.

"If you're that stupid to overlook something like that after losing your friend two years ago, then you're
not my disciple. And thanks to you, other kids who failed to awakened were spared this year, apart from
those who had been given the pills before you get there."

The old man said.

"They were spared? Why?"

Both Emmy and Sunny asked at the same time.

"To clear people's suspicious of course, even if you're stupid enough to leak what you find to the world,
nobody will believe you as long as those few kids are alive. That's the meaning behind their action."

He declared.

"Wow, smart move. Now what would happen to us?"

Emmy asked.

The man sigh, look at both of them with a serious look.

"Nothing will happened for now, but they'll be keeping an eye on you both, any wrong move they'll
silent you. So I have to warn you guys, I know I can't take you under my wings but you both needed to
be careful from now on. Just act as if you know nothing, like what you saw today never happened, it's
just a dream and none of you attend the awakening ceremony today.

Emmy, you should focus on your football career and ignore everything around you, and you Sunny, you
should also focus on whatever good thing you're doing, protect your brother and not stand out too
much."

"That's the only advice I can give you, those people are heartless."

Then he stand up, push the load of gifts he had brought along to Emmy and said.

"Actually, I came here today with gifts to congratulates you, thinking you have successfully awakened an
ability, if I had known that you failed, I would've remained at the temple, wait for you to come ask me
for help, then lock you. Ha haha, now tell, what do you need me to do."

Both Emmy an Sunny stare at each other, it's just as they had thought, their wicked grandfather will
forcefully take them in if they go to him for help, thank God he had came to visit them instead.

'But how did he know we needed something.'

Emmy thought.

"Why are you staring at like that, I'm sure you needed me to do something. Don't tell me those
welcoming smile earlier were free.'

The old man said with a smirk on his face.

"Damn, he caught us."

Emmy whispered into his brother's ear as he smile nervously and said.

"Actually, we needed you to create a talisman charm that will keep the fact that I don't have an ability,
even with the use of those ability checker devices."

He said with a shrug.

"What if you get caught?"

Their grandfather asked.

"If you did a good job then I need not to worry about getting caught."

Emmy said calmly.

The man smile, then turn around walking towards the door.

"If there's nothing else, then you can come for it tomorrow."

With that he left.

"Grandfather you're the best."

Emmy shouted, making sure he heard.

After the plan had been placed into motion, Emmy couldn't wait no more. The system still felt unreal to
him so he couldn't help but keep scrolling through it up and down with maximum attention.

"Will you just keep staring at that the whole day, aren't you coming to help me with this, so we can
quickly go get the watch before the store close, it's already sunset."

His brother's voice came from behind the wardrobe where he was busy filtering out different dress that
their grandfather had brought along with the gifts.

"Oh, I almost forget."

Emmy said, quickly getting off the bed to help his brother.

"Wait, did grandfather top up the account for us?"

He asked.

"Yes, why?"

Sunny answered.

"It's already end of the month and we'll resume back to school two days from now, so I need to go get
my own personal training kit to show them that I have arrived."

Emmy said with a smirk on his face.

Failed Quest

The next day, Emmy was woken up by several ding resounding in his head and as he opened his eyes,
the system screen was flashing through his sight.

"Ah what is it, don't tell me the system has alarm to wake me up."

He muttered in a half frustrated tone as he open the system to see what the message was..

[The time for daily quest had been reset]

[Host has failed the previous day quest]

[Penalty: -5 Speed points, -2 Agility points]

[It is advisable for host to not practice the act of laziness, the consequences of laziness is more terrifying
than death]

"Hell no, what the hell?"

Emmy shouted, throwing the duvet off his body as he quickly sit upright, waking his brother up in the
process.

"Can you let me sleep in peace."

Sunny said in a frustrated tone, turning around as he used the duvet to cover his entire body.

"How...how did this happen? I didn’t even know there's was a penalty, this is system is cheating."

Emmy said with his eyes pointed at the penalty he had received for not completing the quest. 5 speed
points and 2 agility points is a lot, he had thought doing the quest everyday is not compulsory, he could
do it whenever he wants. But now, he understand what they mean by daily quest.

He must not slack a day off.

Not completing the quest yesterday is not what he had done willingly, in fact, he was eager to do what
the system had task him with. But he was completely consumed yesterday, not only has time gone after
doing everything and getting the fake wristwatch in the store, but he also didn't know there would be
punishment for not doing the quest, that's why he didn't do it.

"Now, this is frustrating. It should at least have mentioned the penalty. This system is a scum."

It seems the word system has gotten to his brother as his quickly got the duvet off and got up.

"What happened, was the system stolen?"

Sunny asked, staring at him with concern.

Emmy turn his head, look at his brother with sad face and said.

"You won't believe it, there was a penalty for not completing the daily quest and the damn system didn't
bother to mention it to me, like it doesn't matter. And now, I've lost 5 speed points and 2 agility points."

Emmy said, planting his face between his knee cap.

"A whole five speed points? Ah that's a lot. Then you should get up and go complete today's quest, don't
linger on it."

His brother said.

Emmy raised his head as well as an eyebrow.

"Early....early this morning?"

"Yes of course, early morning is the best time for exercise. Don't worry, I'll prepare breakfast and get the
talisman from old man, he should be done by now."

Sunny said, getting up and drag his brother along.

Several minutes later, Emmy could be seen jogging round the highway road cone with bead of sweat
rolling down his face. He wore a black simple and tight body hug with a short pant with it. The body hug
was completely soaked with his own sweat as thick water was dripping off it.

He had been jogging around the highway cone for a while now and this is his fourth lap, he needed to go
six lap to complete a couple hundred meters. There are other people who are jogging around the cone
with him, most of them training to lose weight. Emmy is the only one who doesn't look like someone
who's exercising to lose weight as others were literally fat, while him on the other hand is skinny.

He continue jogging non stop, his leg buckling in due to fatigue and it seems like he would fall down
anytime from now, but he didn't, he continue moving forward without ever stopping. He had already
completed the two hundred meters sprint, and after this one, he would have only one quest left to deal
with, the last quest which seem to be the hardest.

Thinking about it, Emmy strained himself even more and go through the last lap, then collapse to the
side after successfully jogging 200 meters straight.

"Ah, this is exhausting."

He muttered under his breath, staring blankly at the blue sky that's coming to life in the early morning.

"Hey kid, did you forget this is highway? Get up and leave if you're tired."

An older man said, bringing Emmy back to reality that he's still on the highway, not some training pitch.
He quickly got up find a secluded area to sit and decided to check the system for his progress.

Emmy said as tap his tummy a few times before getting up and started walking home.

Getting home, he was welcome by the sweet scent of a well prepared stew chicken and rice, his brother
had cooked finish.

"Hey you're back, I was just preparing to go meet the old man on the mountain."

Sunny said as he saw his brother walk into the room. Emmy didn’t say anything, he just nodded, took his
shower and join Sunny for breakfast.

"So you've only completed two quest."

His brother asked as they eat and chat away. Emmy nodded, swallowing the last bit of rice in his mouth.

"I'm still thinking of the best place to complete the last quest. It require me to set up cones, 10-20 yards
apart and run between them for 10 minutes. Which means I'll need a pitch that offers convenience."

Emmy replied, placing another spoonful of rice in his mouth.

"You can use the school field, it would be pretty dry now as we're still on holiday, and you know where
the equipment are kept."

Sunny suggested and they both thought about it, the only problem is how to get inside the school as
everywhere would be locked and they need the correct combination code to get in, but with Sunny’s
useless ability, the problem was quickly solved.

And they got onto the school field with relatively ease.

"Now to think that your ability is this useful and incredible."

Emmy said running around the field with a large smile on his face. After leaving the school for the
summer holiday, Emmy hadn't had his feet on a football, not to talk of playing on a field, and he couldn't
lie that he had missed the school, especially his class and the school field.

Although, students who haven’t gone for the awakening ceremony always got the chance to train once
in a week, but Emmy always cherish those moments like a lifetime. Apart from his times with his
brother, his most wonderful and cherished moments are always on the school field. He couldn't describe
those feelings when playing on the field.
And now, being back on it to train, he felt overjoyed.

"You better set the cone by yourself."

Sunny said as he emerged from the shadows, dropping a sack full of cone on the field. Emmy turn
around and said.

"Now that I think about it, I can really ask the coach for permission to be training here after the school
close."

When it comes to playing favoritism, the school coach had always like him for nothing but his
extraordinary talents. So he thought asking the coach for permission isn't bad.

"You can ask him tomorrow when we resume back to school."

Sunny said as he walk out of the pitch, approach a long bench under a tent, sat on it and watched Emmy
as he arranged the cone.

He arrange it in a U-shape, the length going right from one of the goal post, to the center of the field,
while the width is a few meters larger than the goal post. Emmy wasn't really is this is what the system
meant by running back and forth between 10-20 yards, but he still needs to give a try as this is the only
thing he could think of.

"I bet you're going to last five minutes."

Sunny commented, watching from the side. Sunny is not someone who's obsessed with football like his
brother, in fact, he never played football before as he doesn't know how to, he grew up learning how to
fight and protect the people around him. Unlike his brother who had been spoilt from birth.

"Just set the timer for me and watch with your ass down."

Emmy shouted, standing at the starting point of the cone.

"The time is already counting."

Sunny said wit a smile as he stand up to get a proper view.

"Bastard!"

Emmy shouted, not wasting a second as he picked his race.

He ran through the U-shaped cone with full speed, not holding back. He could feel that his speed is not
what it used to be after the system had stolen 5 out of his speed point, he could feel it literally. He got to
the edge of the cone in a quarter of a minute, then make a quick turn and started running forward.

Running around the cone and getting back to the starting point all took him half a minute, and by the
time he spent three minutes doing the same thing all over again, Emmy couldn't go anymore.
 Back To School

Emmy sprawled tirelessly in the midst of the cone he had arranged himself, staring blankly into the air
with his chest rising slowly, his breathing is hoarse. He closed his eyes, then opened it again and sigh.

"I only need to push harder, just a little harder."

He muttered.

Sunny could be seen sitting on the sidelines with a bored expression on his face, an ice cream straw
could be seen hanging loosely on his lips and he was surrounded by several empty package of snacks. He
had gotten all of that for Emmy and him, but surprisingly, he had consumed it all by himself.

Emmy on the other hand didn't know how many times he had collapse in the midst of these cones
today, and how many he still would collapse, but one thing he know is that he won't leave this place
without completing the last quest.

He had been running back and forth between the he had set for the past five hours now but still, he
never achieve his goal. At first, it was just as his brother had said, he didn't last five minutes at the first
six try, he lasted three minutes four times and four minutes twice, it was on his seventh try that he was
able to last five minutes after pushing himself to the extreme limit.

That's when he realized that his problem is not speed at all, what he lacks was stamina, his stamina is
not strong enough to run back and forth between 10-20 yards for ten minutes.

But still he never gave up, he pushed him until he was able to last seven minutes after collapsing
countless times, and now, he couldn't get up anymore. His arm felt heavy, his leg numb and his body
failed to move. He felt like a dead person.

His brother couldn't stop teasing him, constantly telling him to give up while also hurling harsh words at
him. But all Emmy did was turn a deaf ear to him.

He knew Sunny had grown bore of watching him do the same thing all over again, the bastard had even
take a nap twice, go out to fetch a load of snacks and also go to their grandfather to get the charm he
made Emmy. Even after going out for more than five times, Emmy was still running back and forth non
stop, so it was right for him to throw harsh words at him.

"You know you could never do it if you refuse to take anything."

Sunny finally said after gulping down half of the ice cream in his hand, he slowly walk up to Emmy who
was still struggling to stand.
He walk up to his helpless brother, help him sit on his ass and offer him the last sandwich with him and
the half drunk ice cream. Sunny had already promised himself to not offer him anything after persuading
to fill himself earlier, but his brother is stubborn, he never listen. And that's why he had angrily
consumed everything he had bought.

But now, the night sky is already approaching and before they know it now, everywhere will be dark and
in the blink of an eye, the next day would arrive. Which means they both will be stuck here together if
Emmy keep failing, because he wouldn't leave.

Emmy looked at Sunny as he brought the sandwich to him, still not willing to take it but before he could
reject, Sunny forcefully shoved it in his mouth.

"Idiot, why keep playing hard. You've already exhausted your energy, that's you couldn't go any further,
and you could only replenish it by filling yourself."

Sunny said, his hand held on the sandwich which Emmy was starting to chew like a hungry wolf.

After finishing the sandwich, he collected the ice cream from his brother, gulped out down in one go and
said.

"More, I want more."

Emmy said, looking at his brother like he was ready to consume him.

"Bastard, and you kept playing hard before."

Sunny said with a smile as he tap a few buttons on his wristwatch and a new package of different snacks
appeared.

Two hours later, Emmy lie on the pitch with a large satisfy smile on his face, staring blankly into the air,
staring at his system to be precise, while Sunny was busy packing the cones to return them to the
equipment store.

It was already late at night, the night sky in its full glory and the moon lights the dark night with a happy
glow.

After so many failures with the will of not giving up, Emmy had finally completed his quest for today.
After refiling himself, he relax for an hour to gain his energy back and in the next hour, he was able to
complete after just two try, and now, he couldn't help but stare at the rewards with a large smile.

He decided to check his stat.

'If the damn system hadn't stole my speed and agility points.'

He would have 7 points in Agility now and 20 in speed. He overall speed would've increased incredibly
and then he would be proud to say tomorrow in school that he had awakened a super speed ability but
now, he just hope they would believe him.

'If I can complete everything for this week, my stat will be incredible.'

His ultimate goal now is to complete all the quest for this week, he couldn't wait to see his overall speed
points after that.

"Get your lazy ass up and let's go home."

Sunny call out to him after packing all the cones away.

They would be resuming to school the next day.

Emmy had woken up early the next morning, quickly going for what he had called his early morning
exercise.

The first thing he did was to take a sprint to the highway from his house, which the system is already as
far as 200 kilometers, as far as the system know. Because upon running to the highway, the first part of
the daily quest has already been marked completed. Then he wasted no time going for his ten laps jog
round the highway to complete his second quest.

He move back home and prepare for school, the last quest will be left till evening after they close in
school.
By the time he was done getting ready for school, his brother was just waking up, so he decided to
inspect the charm his grandfather had made while Sunny was getting himself ready for school.

He hadn’t had time to look at it yesterday when his brother brought it back because he was too
exhausted, but now, he had plenty of time.

The charm was surprisingly a wristband. It's a silvery band which has his name embedded on it with
different football design. Immediately he put it on, he could feel a strange faint energy around him. The
energy was strangely similar to that of the divine rock when it first appeared at the heavenly tower, but
this was not suffocating like that of the divine rock. It's almost as if he's the only one who could feel the
strange energy around him, and some powerful people, he guess.

'Is this what it feels like to have an ability.'

Emmy thought. He decided to put the band on his left wrist while his right was occupied by the
wristwatch Sunny had gotten him.

'Let just hope they won't suspect something fishy.'

Several minutes later, both Emmy and his brother could be seen standing at the front of the school gate,
which was wide opened with students pouring inside, someone of them catching up and discussing how
they had spent their summer holiday.

The school name, 'New Dawn College' was boldly written at the top of the gate and right below it,
written on a large banner was 'Welcome Back To School.'

Emmy's lips curled up into a smirk upon walking through the entrance.

First Quest

It's just as expected, everyone who had attended this year awakening ceremony were summoned to
know what their ability is, as well as know their true stat after their awakening so they could enter the
school ability users ranking system.

This ranking system is a way to know the overall stat of each students in the school, and to filter out
different abilities users into different activities groups. There are people who their abilities are beat
useful in combat, they're directed into combat activities and there are those whose their abilities are
best useful in sport, they're also taken into sport activities and so on.
But students ranking are determined both by the level of their ability and their overall stat. His brother,
Sunny is surprisingly among the top ten strongest students in the school, he's ranked 9th, and he was
only at 9 because of the low level of his ability, his overall stat is already on par with that of third
strongest student in the school, and he was the only year 2 student who's ranked among the top ten, so
he was well respected and feared in the school.

Emmy on the hand, he couldn't believe what he was seeing on the screen after going through the
ranking process.

"Two....two..... What is this? Two hundred and eighty six? Damn how is that possible?"

He rubbed his eyes a few times, not quite believingr what he had just seen on the screen. But going for
the awakening ceremony, he was ranked 290 out of more than 350 students. He was one of the highest
ranked students among those who haven’t awakened an ability, so he always thought he would move to
one hundred after the awakening ceremony, but now, here he was, Two hundred and eighty six, the last
rank among ability users.

But then, he remembered, he hasn't awakened an ability yet, he's just using scope.

'Makes sense.'

He muttered.

The ranking system is always updated every week and several students always rank up, some will stay at
the same rank while some will rank down. It has always been like that, but from rank twenty to one, the
people there never change. Since two years ago, apart from Sunny, no other student has broken into the
top twenty, they always remain the same, ranking up and down among themselves.

'Maybe I can be like him and break into the top twenty.'

Emmy thought with a smile, then there was a ding in his head and something flashed in his line of sight,
knowing what the it was a system message, be wasted no time opening it.

"???"

Emmy had his eyes wide opened in horror that the people around him couldn't help but asked what's
wrong.

"Sorry, sorry."

He said, quickly moving out of the line.

'Is this system crazy? How can I possibly get into the top 20 within three months?'

Closing up the rank from 200 to 100 is hard and going from 100 to 50 is difficult, but moving from 50
downward is extremely difficult. The double digits is extremely competitive, only the stronger students
in the school occupy that position and most of them are year 3 students, with their ability level above 7.
And funnily enough, Sunny is the only student with a level 2 two ability who was in the double digits
rank, and in the top 10 at that.

"That bastard, how did he do it."

Emmy muttered, finding his way to his class.

Although, the ranking system is based on students overall strength, speed and stamina, their ability is
just like a bonus that boost them and give them higher chance above normal people. And because of
this reason, most people neglect any form of physical training to improve their overall stat, they only
focus on taking their ability to the next level. But Sunny as someone who had been put through harsh
training from childhood, knows better.

"Maybe I should listen to him and start doing some training."

His brother is someone who is well respected even among the teachers, the juniors look up to him, and
his peers wish to befriend him. Some year 3 students had tried to gang up against him in the past, but
they never succeeded, even before he awakened an ability, he had been formidable. There are only a
few students in the school who could go against him, and that's why Emmy had been lazing around for
the past years, not doing any training apart from playing football.

He's always confident that nobody could bully him in the school as long as his brother is around. Not
everyone got that privilege, most people who hadn't gone for the awakening ceremony always received
all kinds of harsh treatment, but Emmy is exceptional.

"Emmy!!!"

A feminine voice called him from behind, and when he turned around to look who it was, he was met
with a tight warm hug.

"I missed you so much."

The young beautiful lady who had hugged him said, embracing him tightly.

"Huh, Alice. People are looking."

Emmy said slowly, his face turning a shade of red.

"Who cares, I just wanted to hug you tighter. I really missed you."

Alice said, cuddling her arm around his neck, then she suddenly let go of him and push him back.
"You scum, don't tell me you didn’t miss me a bit."

Emmy shook his head.

"eh no, I also miss you, but you know, people will get the wrong idea if they see us like this."

He said, rubbing the back of his leg.

Alice look at him, then step on him and push him aside.

"I hate you."

She said as she angrily walk away.

"Huh wait, Alice I have something to tell you."

Emmy shouted, running after her.

"I already know, your brother told me."

She said not turning around, but Emmy still chase after her through the hallway, not quite
understanding what she meant by his brother had told her.

Does she mean Sunny told her about the system?

'No, that's impossible.'

Alice is a young ambitious lady who's both Emmy's seatmate and his class president. She had a very
breathtaking figure, a slender built body, straight and delicate face, blue flowing long hair and blue
puppy eyes, she's a bit taller than Emmy in terms of height. Alice is also one of the reason Emmy had not
been bully in school. Not only does she have a level five ability, but she's also one of the most beautiful
female in the school, and she always dote on Emmy a lot.

As one of the most beautiful female in the school, every boys wants to befriend her, or even get her
recognition and because of this, Emmy got more enemies than he wished because of her, but non of
them dared to hurt him, or even challenge him.

"Hey Alice wait, what did Sunny told you?"

Emmy asked running after her Alice.

"What happened at the awakening ceremony of course."

Alice replied, still not turning back. Then Emmy suddenly froze in place, his eyes widened in belief.

"What....what?"

'How can he be so dumb going around telling people I awakened a system, that will bring a lot troubles.'
Emmy thought.

Alice sensing that he had stopped in his track also stopped, turn around and see him standing in place
with his eyes opened in disbelief, she slowly walk up to him.

"So you're even angry now that your brother told me how you spent nearly fifteen minutes on the altar,
only to awakened a stupid speed ability. You're really unbelievable, I can't believe you even wants to
keep that a secret from me. You scum."

Alice said as she throw a punch to his chest and turn around immediately, walking off again in anger.

"Ouch, it hurts."

Emmy said, feeling a slight pain on his chest.

The School Football Team

Emmy ended up getting a few more hits from Alice after they got back to the class. Their class contain no
more than 30 students and Alice is currently the class president. As one of the most brilliant and
strongest in the class, and also the admirer of all boys in the class, she got more vote than anyone else
when choosing the class president.

She had been Emmy's seatmate since their first year in the senior school and always cling to him all
around the school. He had always find her annoying from the start because he found no reason she likes
hanging out with him. Although, talking of beauty among the boys in the school, only a few out matched
Emmy in that aspect, with his shining well chiseled face, golden wavy hair that shines brightly with his
face, his appearance is always outstanding. So Emmy had always thought she approach him because of
his good looking, but then he quickly realized that compared to Alice who look like a fairy, his own
appearance pale in comparison to hers, so it made no sense if she's clinging to him because of his look.

Emmy was always shy around her before, but now that they have become more acquainted, he talks
casually and also act ordinary when around her, but still, he never fail to anger her with his words and
she always discipline him when that happened, and the same had happened today.

After their little argument, Alice was preoccupied with the class resumption work, sorting out
information and arranging some other things. As the class president, all these minor stuffs were left for
her and her assistant.
Emmy on the other hand did nothing but wait in anticipation for lunch time so he could meet up with
the school coach and ask his permission for training on the school field closing time. They did absolute
nothing today as the first day of resumption, all they did was to play and catch up with friends on their
summer holiday. They will officially resume to school activities on the second day of resumption.

After the bell for lunch time was sounded, Emmy wasted no time running up to the school field where
the coach will always be every time, but upon getting there, Emmy was surprised to find not only the
coach on the field, but also students training training intensely.

'Huh? Were they supposed to train on the first day of resumption? What's going on?'

Emmy thought, standing at the entrance of the field.

The coach, Mr. Enzo sensing his approach turn around, and said.

"Oh Emmy, you're late here. Seeing you here means you've awakened your ability."

Coach Enzo said with a smile. Emmy nodded, walking over to him with his feet buckling into each other,
he suddenly felt cold as the coach talk about him awakening an ability. His conscience was gnawing at
him.

Swallowing hard, he said.

"ermm coach, what's going on, was there supposed to be a training on the first day of resumption?"

Emmy asked, staring at the coach with a surprised expression. Coach Enzo smiled, turn back to the face
the students training on the field and said.

"I sent a message to everyone during the holiday, you probably didn't receive it because you haven't
awakened at the time."

The coach continued.

"As a new season begin next year, there would be all kinds of new competitions in soccer, both in the
pro league, youth and school league, but both the youth and school league will be slightly different,
instead of next season, everything will begin this year. At the end of this year, we'll have a competition
called the Summer Championship among all the schools in Nara City. And a couple months after that,
there another one known as the End of The Year's School Cup, also among the schools in Nara City."

"The same thing will be happening simultaneously in other cities. This competition are introduce by the
sport officials to keep people's mind away from the future calamity, to constantly give them a sense of
entertainment with intense competition."

"So I want you to know that the future will be very intense and competitive, if you are not confident
enough to shine on the field and gains the crowd's recognition, then it's not too late for you to be
among the audience."
The coach said, but Emmy couldn't help but smile brightly, his white teeth shining under the morning
sun. This is exactly what he needed to rise to the pro league, if he could shine in these upcoming two
competition, then several pro team will be setting an eye on him already.

He couldn't help but smile brightly.

"You're smiling."

Coach Enzo said with a chuckle.

"Coach, can I join the training."

Emmy asked, his eyes brimming with excitement.

"Of course yes, but you have to run five laps round the field before you can join."

The coach said with a smile, gesturing for him to get changed.

Emmy look around the field, staring far at the other goal post. The school field is about 100 yards long,
which is roughly the double the distance he was supposed to run in his double quest. For someone like
him who don't have an ability, and have low speed and stamina points, it might be impossible for him.
But he was confident that he could do it. Running back and forth between 10-20 yards made him
realized that, apart from a straight sprint, other races does not require high speed points, all he needed
was enough stamina and energy.

It was confirmed yesterday.

Although, he didn't have enough stamina, but he's still confident.

He look at the coach, then smile and run to the side to get changed into the school training kits.

A couple minutes later, Emmy could be seen in a blue bib and a black short with black boot and white
socks. He stared at the people training on the field before getting into position. The students are doing
some dribbling ball work around an a set of cone, they were doing it without their ability and beards of
sweat could be seen rolling down their forehead.

Emmy spared them a glance, took position at the side of the pitch and sped off. Instead of running a full
speed sprint, Emmy simply go for jogging, the first three laps go with next to no sweat, but on the fourth
lap, he started running out of breathe, he throat gumming together and before he knew it, he fell before
starting the fifth lap right beside the goal post.

Looking at him from the center of the pitch, the coach couldn't help but smile.

'I never thought he would finish three laps not to talk of five, it seems I was right about him.'

He thought.

"Get yourself a water and join us and you rest a bit."

The coach said.

Emmy slowly dragged himself to the side under the tent, grabbed a bottle water and gulped it down in
one go, then he let out a satisfied belch.

"Ah, I thought I could finish the five laps, but damn it."

He said in frustration, angrily throwing the empty bottle to the side.

"Who's that bastard?"

A somewhat aggressive voice came from the side right after he threw empty bottle away. Turning
around, he saw a dozen students slowly walking onto the field before you with a large grin on their face.

Looking at each one of them, he already knew a few of them as some of his teammates who had just
gone through the awakening ceremony like him, while others, he doesn't know at all.

"Oh Emmy, it's you. I never thought you would awakened an ability in this lifetime, hahah. I'm sure your
ability will be good on the bench."

The boy at the front said with the same aggressive voice as he laugh hysterically and walk past Emmy.
The boy is not among those who had just awakened an ability, he had awakened his ability a year ago
and became one of the best ability users in the team.

Although, the boy is not among those who bully the weak, but he dislike Emmy because he refused to
work under him, every students in the team who hadn’t awakened an ability always answer to his call,
they will become his minors after offering them protection against bullies in the school but they would
become his target if they reject his offer.

Emmy had not become his target because of his brother, but he will always show his hatred to him and
send him harsh words.

The boy is a level 5 flame ability user, that's why he had the trait of red air and aggressive flame burning
in the depth of his eyes. He is formidable.

"Eric, it seems you brought new friends. Aren't you going to introduce them to me? It would be rude of
you if you reject."

Emmy commented with a smile.

"You bastard.'

One of the boys behind Eric said as he turn back Emmy, but before any of them could do anything, the
coach's voice cane from behind.

"Eric, how rude of you starting a ruckus immediately you got here. And why are you late? Don't tell me
you didn’t get my message."
The coach said.

"Errm Coach, I was busy recruiting new ability users into the team sir. I though it would increase our
chances."

Eric said, bowing his head slightly.

Coach Enzo look at every new faces in the group, then he smile.

"Your punishment will be lessen. All the new ability users, both old and new comers are to run five laps
round the field, and Eric, you're to go ten laps. Then we'll begin a full field training after that."

The coach said.

The Devil You Know

As the coach said those words, Eric and his minor get into position at the side of the pitch and began
their race. Emmy couldn't help but laugh out loud as many of them collapsed after going two laps, some
managed to complete three laps before giving up and only a handful of them get to complete four laps
with a couple of them pushing to five laps.

"At least, I'm not hopeless."

Emmy muttered, looking as they started falling one after the other.

Eric on the other hand live up to his name and completed the ten laps he was given, Emmy couldn't help
but applaud him.

"I hate to admit it but that bastard is good."

Although, ten laps is merely a child's play for people who had awakened some time ago, and apart from
the new ability users, every students on the pitch could complete ten laps with relatively ease, but
Emmy still hope Eric would fail, to humiliate him.

The coach did a little screening for the new comers, then have them join the cone ball work, after a
while, he ordered everyone to stop.

"We still have a lot of time before the school closes, so I want you all to rest before starting the new
training, we'll be using the full field now."
Coach Enzo said as everyone sat on the pitch right in front of him, beads of sweat rolling down their
head as they all breathe hoarsely.

"The next training now is a match among yourselves."

The coach continued.

"It would be between you new ability users, and your seniors. This match is not just for the seniors to
display their skills and dominate the field, but it's mainly for you new ability users to exact your power to
the limit, give your seniors a hard time even if it's your first time playing with your ability. The purpose
of this match is not for you to win, and it's not for you not to lose, the main purpose is to show your
great determination when facing strong opponent. You can commit as much goal as you want, but you
must give them a tough match."

He separated them into two groups, the new ability users users to the left while the old ability users to
the right. He refers them to as seniors because they naturally have more experience with the abilities
than those who had just awakened, unless there's a talented one among the new ability users and
outshine them when using their ability.

The newly awakened students are fewer than the old ones, there are a dozen and the half of them with
Emmy, making the newly awakened 19 while the seniors doubled in number.

"As you can see, they are not only more experience than you, but they also outnumbered you guys,
they'll be more versatile with substitutes. So you guys are naturally at a disadvantage. Some of you
might be a natural gifted football player, but against experienced ability users, even if it's just a year
experience, you're not match.

I'm sure you've realized this during our training in the past, but today I want you to exact your ability to
the fullest and make a change, they won't be holding back for you guys like in the past."

He then stared at tallest boy among the seniors but moving his gaze to Emmy.

"In this match, I'll only spectate and official, Karim will be in charge of the senior team while Emmy will
captain the newbies."

Karim is the team captain and also the tallest player in the school team, he would be in charge of the old
ability users while Emmy will be leading the newly awakened students. It had always been like that in
the past before Emmy and the rest awakened.

"I'll ten minutes to set up."

The coach said, moving back to sit down while the two teams get prepared.

Now that everyone had awakened, choosing who will be playing and what position to play will be very
hard for Emmy. He know the position every single player in his team played, but now that they have all
awakened, it would be different. Thankfully for him, he had seen all of them used their ability during the
ball work training, so he would work with that.

Emmy cleared his throat and said.

"Henry, you and I will be at the center as usual, Caren will be behind us, you will strike and you will...."

He began choosing players and setting the formation while also giving them roles at the same time.

They decided to go for 4-3-3 formation, the three people at the front are speed and spatial ability users,
the two people with Emmy possessed flame and lightning ability respectively, while the defenders
possessed strength related abilities and one elemental ability, but they're at all at the low level and are
relatively weak.

"Hey."

One of the boys who had come with Eric earlier said, walking over to Emmy. He's the same boy who had
called him bastard earlier and also one of the newly recruited students.

"Just because you're the captain here doesn't mean you can do as you pleased. Tell me why you decide
yo bench all of us who had just got to the team, is any of you here better than us? And yiu claimed to
have a speed ability but you never show it even when we were training."

The boy complained aggressively, clearly annoyed.

Emmy smile as he fold his arms, he had indeed chosen the people he knew in the team and bench all the
newly recruited students. Not only are they new and know nothing about the way they play, but it
would even be hard to cooperate with them as they haven't played together before. Emmy knew the
capabilities of everyone he had choose and they all knew each other well, they cooperate well on field
even though they don't get well along with him. So it wouldn’t be any good to start these new comers.

And more importantly, these people are Eric's minors and who knows what would happen on the field,
although, everyone he had choose are also Eric's minors and abuse Emmy together with him, but they
cooperate well on field, so he's not taking any chance.

"I never said you guys are not playing, you're just on substitution, and you can use that chance to watch
closely how we played so you won't make any mistake when you come in, that's if there's any chance."

Emmy said with a smirk, then walk back to the coach and others followed him.

The seniors had also gotten ready and are back to the coach.

"Now get into position, it's the usual one hour, thirty minutes in each half."

The coach said and everyone get into position on the field.

'Wise kid.'
The coach thought upon seeing that Emmy never change his players for the new comers, although some
of the new comers possessed strong abilities that would increase their chance, but Emmy still got with
the people he knows.

'He followed the words; the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know.'

Coach Enzo smiled, then blew the whistle.

anything about getting penalized for failing the quest, but Emmy knew better.

"This is going to be tough."

He muttered, as the seniors made the kick off pass and got the ball back to their box.

The newbies charged forward without wasting a second.

In am instant, one of the newbies striker appeared in front of the opponent and aim to kick the ball, but
his leg simply phase through it and kick nothing but air. He lost balance and fell.

The senior charge the ball forward and dribble a few of the including Emmy before passing the ball back.
For a dozen minutes, the seniors did nothing but pass the ball among themselves and perform some
crazy moves to dribble their opponents, they didn't make any goal attempt. It's not as if they didn't want
to make an attempt, but it's simply because they never get the chance to do so. Not only was the
newbies defense as strong as an impenetrable fortress, but they're also using the best keeper in the
school.

It's always like this in the past, the coach will give them the best keeper in the team while the senior will
be given the second keeper, they both have different abilities. Although, the senior always score several
goals against the keeper, but today felt different, not just because of the keeper but also the defenders.

In the next dozen minutes, the match grew more intense with the seniors pressuring and pushing the
newbies to the extreme limit, forcing them to realize the true aspect of their ability and give them a
tough match.

The two boys at the midfield with Emmy contributed the most to the match, with their flame and
lightning ability, they were almost everywhere, doing what they never believed they could do. They gave
the three strikers no chance to strike, even with Eric as one of them strikers, they hunt him down with
the rest, Emmy knew those boys will surely get scolded at the end of the match because Eric look rather
frustrated.

One of the great advantage they had was their keeper who had the ability to peek into the future, and
one of the defenders who possessed a telepathic ability. A great combination in a football match.

The keeper had always possessed that ability and that's exactly what made him the best keeper in the
school team, but they lack someone who could share what he sees with the rest during a match, and
that's where their flaw lies. And now, among the newly awakened students, one of them possessed a
telepathic ability, the coach was overjoyed.

But even at that, they still committed a goal at the last couple minutes for the first half to end, and
another goal when it was just a dozen seconds for the first half to end, after they had all ran out of
energy.

The two goals were score by Eric who unleashed the full extent of his power, making the score line 2-0
at the end of the first half.

"Ten minutes for you before second half begin."

The coach said, not quite believing the match he had just watched himself.

Normally, before Emmy and the rest awakened, the seniors always give them 10 to 12-0 at the end if the
match, and that's even then holding back, but now that they're not holding back, they barely score two
goals during the first half.

"It seems this two will be a great boom to the team."

The coach thought, staring at the defender with the telepathic ability and the keeper.

After the first half had ended, instead of going to the changing room to discuss as usual, the two teams
sat away from each other on the pitch, with both captains discussing with the rest.

Exhaustion could be seen clearly written on Emmy’s face, but he still stood at the front of his mates,
discussing the process of the match with them.

"It's just as predicted, the three strikers are the goal machine among them. In the past, they would've
scored more than five goals at the end of the first half, and that's even them holding back, but now, they
couldn't do anything because we were able to cooperate well and counter them."

Emmy explained.

After receiving the system quest earlier, he had changed their formation, although, they still played with
the same 4-3-3 formation, but he changed the role of each players immediately. The three strikers with
the speed related abilities are to keep the midfielders in check while also coming back to help hunt the
strikers with Emmy and the two boys. The defenders are to keep the opponent away from getting to
their box while also sharing information from the keeper

Communicating and sharing information from the keeper is the root of their success.

Emmy continued.

"Now we must change our formation again, I'm sure everyone of you can still play."

They nodded.

"We'll go for 5-4-1 formation, but now we are not just defending, but we also hunt for goals."

Emmy said with a smile, and they all look at him in disbelief, thinking he had gone crazy.

"What are you thinking, have you gone crazy?".

Henry asked with disbelief.

"We barely defended ourselves against them, and now you think we can score a goal. You're over
yourself."

Another boy said.

"You just said we are going with 5-4-1 formation which is clearly a defense formation and now you want
us to score a goal, and I'm sure you know we are all exhausted."

Care said.

Emmy smile, sit down and said.

"I only said we are hunting for goal, I didn't said it's compulsory. And have you guys forgotten that we
know their next move before they play."

"Even at that, we're all exhausted, I'm afraid we can't even defend them anymore."

Henry complained.

"Don't worry, there's someone in the substitute who will be of a great help."

Emmy said, looking at the new comers who had been quite since, their eyes suddenly shone as the same
arrogant boy from before stood up and said.

"Oh wow, you finally think about us. I was hoping you would leave us here till the match ended, then
you'll have to regret it."

The boy said.

"Well, thankfully I didn't disappoint you."

Emmy said with a smile then turn to another boy among them.

"Hey buddy, we only need you."

Emmy smiled at the brown haired boy among the new comers, ignoring the arrogant boy who was
already beaming with anger.

The brown haired boy pointed at himself, clearly surprised. He seemed to be the acting different from
others, almost scared of them.

"Huh me? Why?"

The boy asked.

"Didn't you want to play?"

Emmy asked in an annoyance tone.

"Oh yeah, I want to play, but these people are better than me, why not choose one of them."

The boy demanded.

"Well, I don't really need you though, it's just your ability we needed."

Emmy replied, with a polite smile on his face.

The boy jerked his head, a disbelief expression frozen on his face. But instead of him talking, it was the
arrogant boy who reacted.

"You this bastard who do you think you are."

The arrogant boy said, slowly walking towards Emmy with a paced step.

"He's your captain and your coach at the moment."

Coach Enzo said from the side, the boy's arrogant voice attracting his attention. The boy hurriedly steps
back, then gave Emmy a strange look, clearly telling him, 'I'll catch you.'

Emmy smiled, then turned back to the brown haired boy.

"So what do you say, it's not a must for you to play. You can just help us from the bench with your
ability."

During their training, Emmy had already notice what ability most of the new comers possessed, and this
brown haired boy possessed a strange ability that allow him to boost his comrades stats, their overall
strength, speed and stamina as well as their energy points.

And the strange thing is that, despite being among the newly awakened students, the boy's ability is
surprisingly at the level 4, which means he has resources.

Emmy knew this boy meant alot to the group of new comers, with his ability, he could turn the tide at
any aspect, but this people seemed to be treating him differently. But Emmy didn’t care about that, he
just need him to help them.

The boy glanced at the arrogant boy, whose name Emmy had found out to be Blake. He simply look
away not giving any reaction, almost as if he's telling him he don't care about whatever he do. The
brown haired boy nodded, then moves to Emmy and touch his hand, and did the same to everyone of
the players.

Then the boy moved back to hid group and activated his ability.

Immediately, Emmy felt a wave of energy surge through him, not only that, but he also received a
system message at the same time.

At the end of the match, the newly awakened students have out performed what they had thought. The
match end with a draw of 2-2, a disbelief result that had got the senior humiliated. Not only did they
failed to score any goal at the second half, but they also conceded two goals, it was really surprising.

Even the coach was really surprised and dumbfounded, not knowing exactly how to react. But the
people who were surprised the most was Emmy and his players.

Their initial goal was to stop the seniors from scoring goals anymore, while also trying their best to score
a goal, but they never imagined to stop them from scoring any goal entirely, while also scoring a couple
goals themselves.

They never believed it.

But their victory comes from the hand of one person.

The brown haired boy, Fred.

Emmy had approached him to use his ability on them and their initial plan was the boy to activate his
ability when they're all exhausted, but after the boy had activated his ability at the start of second half,
he never deactivate it again.

As a level four ability user, using his ability on so many people like that, his Energy Point will drain
quickly and can only last for a dozen minutes and a couple more. So they had decided to take chance
within that time before the boy's energy point ran out as well as their own stamina, they play
aggressively and managed to score a goal, fearing that the boy's energy point will soon run out.

But they never expected for the boy to have a bottle of energy boosting pill. This pill temporary return
his energy point for a couple minutes, and with a whole bottle of them, he was able to maintain his
ability till the end of the match.

This was both a surprise and suspicious for Emmy, one of those pills is really expensive but a whole
bottle of them, Emmy didn’t want to imagine how much the boy had spent to get it, so why had he used
it all on them.

Emmy wondered.

But soon, he was able to find out.

After the match had ended, the coach applaud and encourage them, pinpoint the flaw of the seniors and
where their downfall had come from. They were too arrogant, he made them know that. He explain a
few others thing to them, gave them the analysis of the match and what strategy Emmy and his team
had used

While the coach was busy explaining these things, Emmy noticed that Fred, tgr brown haired boy was
spacing himself was the group, almost as if he's trying to get close to him. And Emmy seeing this
opportunity take the chance and approach him to ask his own question.

"Hey, what's wrong with you?"

Emmy asked. The boy stare at him for a few moments, then shook his head. He looks pale and a
exhaustion could be seen clearly written on his face.

"I mean, why did you use all the energy pill to help us. I'm sure you've been keeping it to help your
friends whenever there's trouble, but why did you use it on us?"

"They're not my friends!"

Fred said, in an almost loud and painful voice. They're both sitting at the back, and only a few could hear
the boy's voice.
Of course, Emmy knew Fred was being treated differently by his group, he's almost like an asset to
them. Emmy could see it the way the boy was being treated, but it's not his own problem so he's not
going to interfere.

"Yeah, I know they're not your friends and I know you're forced to hang out with them. I also know that
they bully you as well as protect you from bullies. But my own question is, why did you waste your
precious pills on us, even the match is not that important, we just want to put on a show."

Emmy speaks straight.

"Because... Because I...want to be your friend."

Fred replied.

Emmy chuckle softly, finding the words funny.

"You wants to be my friend? Ha ha ha, that's something I've not heard since I was born."

Emmy couldn't help but laugh.

Fred ignored his senseless laugh and said.

"Since getting to this school, apart from Eric, you're the only year 2 student I've seen who's not scared of
Blake, you're the only one who talk back to Blake confidently. Not just that, but you also talk back to Eric
himself and stand your feet against him. Even Blake had to bow down to Eric and follow him because
he's stronger than him. Blake only respect strong people.

Also, I can see that other players listen to you naturally, even as all of them are Eric's minor, they still
listen to you on the field. So I thought you're stronger than both Blake and Eric, so I wish to gain your
favor."

Fred said, looking away in embarrassment as Emmy laugh again.

"No you must be mistaken."

Emmy said.

"I can say that I'm the weakest person in the team, I can't even defeat an ant, and my ability is only at
level one. I'm-"

The boy interrupted.

"Then why are you so confident in front of Blake, that guy is brutal and ruthless, he won't let you off."

Fred said in an utmost panic tone.

Emmy smile again.

"Because he can't do anything to me, Eric won't allow him to do so."

"You seemed to be too confident, why would Eric stop him from touching you? Even Eric wanted to beat
you earlier, so what are you saying."

Fred said.

"He's just blabbering, he would never touch me because I have people stronger than him protecting
me."

Emmy said confidently.

Fred look at him for some time, not knowing what to say exactly, after a while, he speaks.

"Who know, I only join Blake's group because he was stronger and many people are scared of him, he
only accepted me because of my support ability and had been protecting me from bullies. But in return
was not only my ability, but also my money while also getting bullied by them."

"I had no choice but to do whatever they ask of me. With me around them, they challenge anybody
without thinking twice and survive most of the dire situation unscathed, but today, we all get defeated
by Eric alone, then Blake bow down to him and follow him."

Emmy was really surprised for this, so Eric had just met these new comers today and they already
respect him so much and bow to him.

'It's really true that the strongest rules.'

He thought.

"Seeing you stand against both of them with confident, I thought you're strong and I notice that you're a
person of justice, that's why I never hesitated to use the whole pill on you. But now, if Blake find out

Fred said dejectedly.

"Well, now that you know I'm weak, you should go back to them. And if you're scared of Blake, you
should hang around Eric, he don't tolerate bully. Although, the bastard is ruthless and brutal, but he
won't bully the weak, especially his minors. He only hate me because I refused to be his minor, and
because of a friend of mine whom he wished to get close to."

Emmy explained.

The boy thought about it for a while, then nodded, and just as he was about to say something, the coach
voice's came from the front.

"Fred, you'll be a great contribution in this match, so you should prepare yourself and don't be timid."

The coach said as he stand up.

"Till tomorrow then, you're dismissed."

'Huh tomorrow? Has training schedule changed? And what match is he talking about?'

Emmy thought, suffering the consequence of not listening to what the coach had been saying.

Football Insight

Later on, Emmy learned what the coach had said from the mouth of his teammate as they couldn't stop
discussing among themselves as they return to class.

He found out that the training schedule had indeed changed, instead of three days a week that they
normally train, they'll now be training 5 days a week, which means they'll be training every school day.

That's a joyous news to Emmy, not only would he have the opportunity to train everyday, but he would
also be completing his daily quest during training in school, he wouldn't have to worry about going to
the highway early morning to perform his quest.

Training everyday is not the only information he got, he also learned that there's a friendly match
between their school and another school this Friday, not only that, but every Friday will also be a day
match, they'll be playing friendly match with different schools every Fridays, his joy couldn't be
contained.

'Incredible, this just incredible!'

Emmy exclaimed.

He waited for everyone to leave before approaching the coach, and asked his permission for doing a set
of personal training on the after the general school training. And just as expected, the coach did not
decline, he gave him the grace to use the school pitch for his personal training, but with a limited time,
he would only be allowed on the pitch after the school close and everyone had left the pitch, and he was
only given an hour to train.
With his current experience, one hour us enough for him to complete the last daily quest that requires
him to set a cone between 10 to 20 yards and run between them, but he don't know about other quest
in the future, the system had that the daily quest will be changing every week, so he didn’t know what
the next one would be.

After everyone had left the pitch, Emmy and the coach were the only one left, and he wastedno time
arranging the cone and get into action.

The coach watch him with interest, watching his every move, his exhaustion, determination and his to
achieve what he wanted. The first couple try was a failure, but he was able to complete it on the third
try and the system message resounded in his head, a sign that he had completed the daily quest for
today.

He lied down on the pitch, staring at the system message.

Looking at his stat, his eyes suddenly laid on Football Insight.

'Oh yes, that new attribute.'

It was a reward he got after drawing that match earlier. He could see that the attribute has an arrow tab
under it, so he decided to check it out.

'Wow, a god level attribute. This is too much man.'

A large smile was plastered across his face.

Coach Enzo, seeing that Emmy is taking longer than usual to get up after falling, he decided to approach
him. He saw him smiling brightly as he stare blankly into the air, the coach couldn’t help but smile too.

"It seems you’re trying to achieve something and I can see that you've succeeded."

The coach said, offering his hand to help him get up.

Emmy smile, grabbed the coach's hand, get up and dust his body.

"If I'm right, this little training you just did will naturally increase your stamina, endurance and also boost
your agility a little. If I may ask, who gave you this task?"

The coach asked with curiosity.

Emmy was really surprised, how the hell did he know exactly what he gain from doing this.

'Well, he's a coach after all.'

He thought about his question for a while and gave him what he thought is the best answer.

"My brother, he told me be doing this till the end of this week."

"Huh Sunny? If I'm not wrong, your brother knows nothing about football, how did he think of this?"

The coach asked, surprised.

"He saw on YouTube by chance, then he show and told me to practice it for this week. He said it would
increase my speed and stamina."
Emmy replied, trying to convince his coach. Of course, he knew the man would not buy it, Sunny is well
known for his martial arts skills and had no interest in football, so why would he suddenly found
something on YouTube and watch it.

The coach was about to say something, but just at that moment, Sunny himself walk into the pitch.

"Hey bastard, aren't you done yet, i'm tired of standing out there."

Sunny said, walking towards him with an uninterested expression on his face.

"Oh coach Enzo, I greet you."

He said slightly bowing his head. The coach nodded in response.

"Return the cones before you leave, we'll meet tomorrow."

The coach said, as he walk back onto the bench under the tent.

Emmy obediently did as he was told, pack the cone with his brother and leave the pitch.

Unbeknownst to Emmy, Blake and his gang had been patiently waiting for him outside the school gate,
still wondering why he hadn’t come out yet.

"I'm sure the bastard was still on the pitch before we come out."

A boy among Blake’s group said.

"Then why hasn't he come out. Don't tell me he knew we are waiting for him, so he decided to remain in
his class."

Another boy said.

"Or did we perhaps missed him."

"I was looking at everyone that come out closely, I'm sure he's still in school."

"Do you guys think we should go check him."

"Idiot, the guards won't allow us."

"We can fly the fence."

They began talking among themselves, still wondering why he hadn’t come out yet. Fred could also been
seen among them, but he doesn't look like his usual self, his hair was rough and dirty, although, he bore
no injury, but specks of blood could be seen on his school uniform.

A sign that he had been beaten and healed.

Blake also stood among them, but remained silent, and after a while, he speaks.

"Let's go, we've stay here for more than thirty minutes but we didn't see him. Don't worry we'll get him
tomorrow."

He said as he started walking forward and others follow him immediately.

"I still can't believe that bastard Eric said not to mess with him."

Blake muttered under his breath, but still loud enough for Fred to hear him.

An Ambush

The next day, Emmy was woken up by his brother. Now that he decided not to do his daily quest early
morning again, he wake up anytime he likes. By the time he woke up today, Sunny and already prepared
and had gotten ready for school, he's just waiting got him to get read, eat and leave for school.

After a joyous breakfast as usual, both of them grab their things and leave for school. They don't really
have anything to grab though, all their books and everything were kept in a storage device which is now
connected to their ability wristwatch, but the same is not for Emmy who's using a fake wristwatch, so he
had his storage device separate.

"Do you think I can awaken an ability?"

Emmy asked, thinking about the awakened ability the system had mentioned.

"Absolutely no."

Sunny replied straight away.

"Tsk, seless."

Emmy clicked his tongue, walking away.

"Hey brat, don't be silly. You already have a system, and you know what? The system will make you op,
even stronger than grandfather and the big families, so what do you still need ability for."

Sunny said, walking behind him.

Emmy thought about it for a while, then nodded.

"Hmm, well said."

Then he suddenly turn around.

"Wait, is grandfather really that powerful? You always said he's on the same level as the leaders of the
big families."

Sunny looked away and answered nonchalantly.

"You wouldn't want to know, that old man is a demi god."

Sunny said.

A few minutes later, they walk into the school building and after getting to the year two building, they
part ways.

"Play well and don't let anyone bully you, I won't forgive them."

Sunny said, already walking away as he age his hands.

Emmy smiled, nodded and walk into the year two building.

Walking into the building with a measured step, Emmy pray he never bump into Alice again, well that's a
prayer he made everyday, not to bump into her on the hallway.

He took the mechanical elevator at the ground floor and found himself on the hallway of the fifth floor
in an instant. The elevator is no ordinary elevator, it's a mechanical elevator fixed with a mechanical
teleporter, offering instant travel.

Emmy wasted no time walking forward, his class is on the last row of the fifth floor so he still need to
walk quite a bit. But just as he took a couple dozen steps, several people emerge from the corner of the
hallway, a few of them coming out of the empty classes on the hallway, forcing Emmy to stop in his track
as they block his way with no friendly demeanor.

"Hey bastard, do you know how long we've been waiting for you?"

One of the boys said, cracking his fist loud.

Emmy look at the group of boys well, there are 11 of them in total, six of them are the group of newbies
who had come to the school team with Eric yesterday, Fred is also among them, hiding behind everyone
else with his rough hair.

The only person who's not among them is Blake.

"I guess you're looking for me."

A voice came from behind him, and turning around, he saw Blake slowly coming out of the elevator with
sparks of blue radiance going off around him.
'Damn, these bastards, I never thought something like this will happened.'

Emmy thought, biting his nails with a deep frown on his face.

"Do you have an idea how long we waited for you yesterday? Don't tell me you slept in the school."

One of the boys said.

Emmy look at Blake, then turn to the group of eleven boys, he stood no chance against them, he can't
even defeat one of them not to talk of eleven, it's a death sentence. Not knowing what to do, he speaks.

"I'm you guys are here because of what happened yesterday. I'm really sorry, I apologize for my
rudeness, I didn't really what had gotten into me yesterday, I'm not always that rude. Please uncle Blake,
can you make it slide just this once? I promise it won't happen again, thank you."

Emmy said, sounding polite than ever with his head slightly bowed, then he started walking forward but
the boys moved immediately, blocking his way.

"Oh sorry, it's this way."

He said, turning around and started walking towards Blake.

"Do you think I'm here to joke with you, get him."

Blake shouted, and the boys started walking towards Emmy who quickly turn around again, raised his
hand and said.

"Wait, wait, guys. Let's talk this out, you don't need to be aggressive, we can really talk it out. I'll give
you 500 dollars if you let me go this once."

Emmy said, taking a step back as the Boys moves forward. Creating a distance between him and the
boys, he was closing the distance between him and Blake.

Fred behind the boys couldn't help but shook his head in pity.

'This boy, he was confident yesterday, but now he had gotten himself into trouble. I'm sorry I can't do
anything to help.'

"You want to give us money?"

Blake said, staring at Emmy who nodded in an instant.

"Well, I'll take everything you have with you when I'm done with you."

Blake said with a smile.

'There's no way out of this. Damn!'

"Do you guys even know who my brother is?"

Emmy said trying to think of a way out, but the boys didn't stop in their track.

"He won't let you off if you touch me, I'm telling you now."

The boys continue walking towards him with a measured step, all staring at him like a group of
predators ready to tear a helpless prey apart.

But before any of them could get to him, Blake suddenly shouted making everyone turn around in an
instant.

"Watch out!"

A large ice pillar could be seen heading towards them from behind, as all of them turn around, they
quickly make way for the pillar, headed towards Emmy, who fall down immediately and the pillar flew
past him, heading towards Blake who avoided it with just a step to the side making the pillar hit the wall
of the hallway.

As everyone of them looked to see who had produced the ice pillar, they were surprised to see nobody
on the hallway, but Blake who saw behind Emmy could now see someone else standing between them,
right in front of Emmy.

It was young lady, with blue flowing hair and a delicate figure. Blake couldn't see her completely as she
wasn't facing him, nor was she facing the boys, she stood between them, a sword made from pure shard
of ice was held in her right hand, already drawn, with her back facing Emmy.

"Ah thank God you came."

Emmy said with a smile, already getting up.

"Idiot shut up, why would you mess with them."

Alice said, not sparing him a glance.

"And who are you?"

Blake asked.

Alice turn to look at the boys with her shining blue eyes, then turn to Blake who seemed taken aback
with her otherworldly beauty, as well as the boys.

"Are you his girlfriend?"

Blake couldn't help but asked.

Alice spare Emmy a glance, then turn back to Blake and smiled.

"This idiot is not worthy enough to be my boyfriend, but if you want to get him, you must pass through
me first."
Alice said with a charming smile.

"Ouch that hurts, but this people are strong, you can't take them on. Try to create a chance of escape."

Emmy whispered into her ear, both Alice is a level 5 ability user while Blake is level 4, if it was a one on
one match, Emmy is confident that Alice will defeat him miserably, but with 11 other boys who
possessed level 3 abilities and below, not only that but there's also Fred. Emmy feared the worst.

After all, Alice is not as strong as Eric who defeated them all.

The first thing Blake did was look at Alice's wristwatch, seeing that she's a level 5 user, he thought.

'She can't be on the same level as Eric, if she's, I'll just make a run.'

"Are you sure you can take on all of us?"

Blake asked.

Alice looked at them one by one, probably measuring their strength, the she smile and said.

"I'm not dumb enough to think of that, but like I said earlier, you'll have to get through me first, to get
him."

She said with a nonchalant smile.

"Well, it's a pity you're willing to die for him, I would have offer you protection. Get them."

Blake shouted.

"What if I join them?"

A voice came from the midst of the boys.

We Are Friends Now

"What if I join hands with them?"

The voice came from the midst of the boys, and they couldn't help make way for the person who had
speak.

"Fred?"
They all said in surprise, including Emmy.

"Fred, what are you doing?"

Blake shouted from behind, clearly angry and confused.

The boy on the other hand, didn't say anything, he had his head down as he walk towards Emmy. The
words he said earlier came out with confident, but looking at him now, Emmy could see that he was
nervous.

'This stupid boy, does he think we can win with him joining us? He's just another problem for Alice to
worry about. Now I'm afraid we can't take a run.'

Emmy thought dejectedly.

Alice meanwhile, pointed her sword at Fred, prompting him to halt.

"Who is he?"

Alice asked Emmy, who simply shrugged and gave a straight answer.

"He's just someone I met in the team, he's not that important, don't mind him."

Emmy replied. And the boys couldn't help but laugh.

"Fred, are you trying to betray us?"

One of the boys said.

"I'm sure you know the consequence."

Another said.

"Whatever the consequence is, I can't continue helping you guys, I'll rather use my ability on good
people than you scum."

Fred said with frustration in his voice.

Then something clicked in Emmy's head as Fred said those words.

'Damn, his ability.'

He didn't think about it before, if Fred could use his ability on Alice, Blake and his friends won't stand a
chance.

"You should let him touch you."

Emmy whispered into Alice's ear.

"Do you trust him, what's his ability?"

Alice asked.

"I think you should grab him instead, you'll know."

Alice didn't said anything else, she put her sword down, then grabbed Fred's hand and dragged behind
her. At first, she felt nothing, but a dozen seconds later, she felt a wave of energy surge through her very
being. Her energy, strength, speed and stamina, everything seemed to be multiplied.

She turn around, looked at Fred, then smile and dismissed her sword.

For a moment, everyone was confused for a action, but then, one of the boys suddenly screamed.

"Arghhh."

The boy at the front scream as he was sent flying back.

"Fred bastard! Everybody run!"

Blake shouted as he quickly move back into the elevator and descended.

Others took their race and run through the hallway.

Emmy look at them in surprised, and he couldn't help but laugh.

"Ha haha, a bunch of cowards, I can't believe they ran."

Alice gave him a strange look and said.

"You should thank him instead of blabbering around."

She then turn to Fred, bow to him and said.

"Thanks your for help. I really appreciate."

Alice said, bowing slightly to Fred, who took a step back.

"It's....it's okay, I just can't stand those guys bully anymore. And I wanted to help Emmy."

Fred said with a nervous smile on his face.

"I guess we are friends now."

Emmy said with a smile and Fred nodded and return with a smile of his own.

"Can I ask where your class is?"

Alice asked, curious.

"Oh my class is not on this building, I'm a year one student. I shall take my leave now."

Fred said turning around to take his leave.

"Hey wait, aren't you afraid they'll come for you?"

Emmy asked with concern.

"Don't worry, they can't kill me."

Fred replied with a smile, and then, step into the elevator.

"What an interesting fellow, he betrayed his friends just to help."

Alice commented, staring at the elevator as blue radiance shone within it.

"You're mistaken, they're not his friends, he's just like an asset to their group because of his ability. And
he didn't just do that to help me, he couldn't continue getting bullied by them while they act as his
friend and use his ability, that's why he's looking for someone strong he could befriend and protect
him."

Emmy said, also staring at the elevator as it gone off.

Alice turned to look at him, smile and said.

"So said you're weakling, the boy would be disappointed in you."

Alice said, turning around and walk away.

"Hey, you don't need to tell me that, and he already know I'm a weakling before now."

Emmy said, running after her.

"You should really get your brother to scare those guys away, I'm sure they’ll still come back for you.
Only gods know what you've done to them, that doesn't look like a mere bully."

Alice said, walking with a measured steps on the hallway.

"They're Eric’s minors, I angered them yesterday in the team and got on their bad side, I never knew it
would get to this, I thought that bastard will keep them in check, but don't worry, I've got plans for
them."

Emmy replied.

"By the way, how did you know I'm in trouble?"

Emmy asked, thinking of what would've happened to him if Alice hadn’t appeared in time.
"I was just strolling around, then I saw them ganging up on an helpless boy, I wouldn't have intervened if
I knew it was you."

Alice replied.

"Oh wow, so you were actually looking for me because you haven't seen me in class. How nice of you."

Emmy said with a smile.

"Idiot, dream on."

Some hours later, the bell ring for lunch time, and Emmy spared no second grabbing a few snacks and
headed to the school pitch. To his surprise, he found Fred on the field running around with beads of
sweat rolling down his head and he was already out of breath.

The coach could be seen sitting on the bench under the tent with a bottle of water in his hand, while he
stare at Fred running on the field.

Noticing Emmy, the coach turn around.

"Oh Emmy, you're here."

"Coach."

Emmy greeted, bowing his head. Then he quickly moved to the changing room, changed to the team's
training kit and join the coach who had already stand up.

"He had been here about an hour ago, claiming he had nothing to do in class. So I took the chance to put
him through some training."

Coach Enzo said, pointing at Fred.

"The boy has some skills and a lot of potential, his overall stats are above that of the person who just
awakened, but he lacks confidence. He's a natural midfielder with no confidence."

The coach continued.

Community High School

A midfielder with no confidence is no different from a car without fuel. Midfielders are the essential
players of the team, often considered as the engine room of the team. They bridge the gap between
defense and attack and can very well dictate the pace of the game with their passing and vision.

But confidence is the key of a great midfielder, it can help them make quick decision, maintain
composure under pressure and take calculated risk. A midfielder with no confidence can hesitate with
the ball which could cause the team a lot.

Of course, Emmy knew Fred lacks confidence, he had known this since yesterday when they first met,
but he never expected him to have the potential of a great midfielder.

The coach meanwhile, continued.

"He will be of great help in this upcoming competition, so I'm planning to start him on Friday to see his
performance. Or what do you think?"

The coach asked.

Emmy nodded.

"It's a great idea. Faced with real challenge, he'll get to understand himself and build his confidence."

Emmy replied.

The coach smile and poke him on his head.

"Wise child."

"Your base is not also bad and your confidence unmatched, even in the most dire situation. The result of
yesterday's match, I never expected it to end like that, but you surprised me with your strategy and
cooperation on the field."

Although, Emmy had not been able to score a goal himself yesterday, but he contributed a lot to the
game, not just with his tactics but he also played relentlessly and made several through pass.

"You also make up for a great midfielder but it's hard to determine your role as your playing style is
versatile. You might not be on the starting line on Friday's match, but I want you train well in this next
few days and improve so you can be on the substitution."

The coach said, and with that, he move back under the tent.

"You can join him before others arrive."

He said.

'I can be on the substitute if I improve well before Friday.'

Emmy couldn't help but smile. With his current stat, he never thought he would be on the substitute for
the upcoming match.

'Two days, I only need two days left.'

He thought as he got onto the pitch and Sprint off, it's time to complete his daily quest.

By the time Emmy completed the first two part of his daily quest, other students were already coming
onto the field, and Fred had already passed out, completely exhausted.

After a while, the coach gathered everyone, told them a few things and began today's training. The first
set of training was to run ten laps round the field, this is what they usually do every time before any
other training could commence.

Both Emmy and Fred were excluded from the ten laps as they had both done more than that before
others arrived. After the race, the coach ordered them to arrange cones between 10 to 20 laps, and
asked them to run between them for 15 minutes. Emmy was really surprised for this, and he couldn't
help but keep glancing at the coach every seconds as he said those words.

He never thought his own daily quest would be used as a form of training for the whole team.

More than half of the team failed to run between it for 15 minutes, many didn't even last 5 minutes
especially Blake’s group. Only a managed to complete the fifteen minutes, and surprisingly, Fred was
among them. Even Emmy had to force himself to reach 11 minutes at once before collapsing,
nevertheless, he achieved his goal.

The system message resounded in his brain immediately he fell on his knees.

Now without a doubt, his speed point will be at 25, agility will be 9 while his stamina will now be at 13.
His stats are coming up little by little.

After that, the next set of training was a fierce match between defense and attack, a match between
defenders and strikers. It was a 8 aside match, where 4 strikers are to score as many goal as they can,
while the defenders are to do anything to stop them from scoring a goal. It was a tough training for the
defenders.

They were shared into groups and were given time. If the defenders were able to defend themselves
and concede no goal before the time runs out, they'll face another set of strikers. And if the strikers
were able to score a goal, they will face another group of defenders when the time runs out.
It was a tough match for both sides.

During all of this training, Emmy received no quest but he could see that had improved a bit for that
short period of time.

Today's training ended like that and everyone left the field after the school close.

Emmy wasted no time rushing over to his brother's class, the coach was surprised when he noticed that
Emmy had left, just yesterday, he asked for permission to train on the field everyday after the team's
training, and today, he didn't wait.

"What's wrong with him?"

Coach Enzo thought.

Unbeknownst to him, he had already helped him by adding what he did yesterday to the team's training,
so he had no reason to wait again.

Emmy didn’t really went straight to his brother after leaving the field, instead, he run after Fred who had
left immediately the training ended.

"Emmy? Why are you running after me?"

Fred asked, surprised.

"They're waiting for you outside, I think you should stay here while I clear things up. Come out in the left
20 minutes."

Emmy said, holding his knee as he breathe for air.

"But what about you, they'll surely attack you too."

Fred said, worried.

"Don't worry, I've got plans."

With that, Emmy left him standing alone as he run towards the year two building.

A dozen minutes later, both Emmy and Sunny could be seen standing on the alleyway of two buildings
that stood right in front of the school, and about twelve boys could be seen standing in front of them.
This alleyway is partially dark as the other side was blocked, it was specially done like this because
students always plan an ambush here for other students who walk through it, and several death has
happened right on this alleyway. So it was blocked and prohibited for any students to come here.
But still, some students still come here to do all sort of things, either to hide for some other students
who they planned to attack, gambling or some other stuffs. And today, Emmy had brought his brother
here knowing some people are hiding here to ambush him later.

"So these are the bastards who dare to touch you."

Sunny said looking at the twelve boys, Emmy nodded.

"You already knew we are here waiting for you, and still come here and brought someone. It's either
you're dumb or you're confident in the person you have brought."

Blake said, staring at both of them.

"I'm you know it will take a while before the school found both of your corpse he-"

Another boy said, but he was cut short of words as he was suddenly sent flying back, his body hitting the
iron that was used to blocked the other end of the alleyway.

"I don't like people who talk too much."

Sunny said, no standing in front of them.

'He's pretty strong, he used some teleporting ability. So sad that bastard betray, but we are not weak
either.'

Blake thought.

"Attack!"

He shouted and everyone, all at once, activated their ability and rushed towards Sunny.

But all he took is a couple blink of an eye, and half of them were already lying on the floor, with blood
flowing out of their body. The other half quickly retreated behind Blake.

"You're strong. But I'm not weak either."

Blake said as he a silver sword appeared in his hand, and as he made a slash, a dozen swords appeared
mid-air, all heading towards Sunny.

"Emmy, get out of here now!"

Sunny shouted as the swords headed towards him. Then he suddenly disappeared, completely out of
sight, making the swords headed towards Emmy.

"Where is he?"

They all asked in confusion.

Then a strange shadow suddenly appeared besides Blake, stretching its hand towards his neck.
"Blake, look."

One of the boys shouted, but it was too late. Sunny appeared out of the shadow, with his hand grabbing
Blake’s neck.

"I'm you're their leader. If you ever dared to attack my brother again, or any of his friend, that would be
your ebd. "

Sunny said as he gave him a punch on his face.

The others meanwhile, bend down and started hitting their head on the floor, saying.

"Senior Sunny, we didn't know it was you. We are sorry for our rudeness."

They all said.

"So you recognize my shadow ability. Continue."

Sunny said as he walk out of the alleyway.

Community High School

The New Dawn college soccer team had left the school as early as ten on Friday morning. They have left
for Community High School where their first friendly match will be taking place with the soccer team of
this school.

Community High school is roughly 200 kilometers away from New Dawn College and it took them nearly
two hours to get there with the school bus.

Community High school itself is no different from New Dawn college, as a government owned school,
they were both designed in almost the same way, with similar patterns.

Just like New Dawn College, Community High School also has five magnificent buildings, two belonging
to the teachers and other school staffs, while the other three buildings belong to the students. Apart
from those three buildings, there's also the school stadium of the same size, training room for combat
and martial arts practitioners, swimming pool, basketball court, tennis court and so on. Every
government owned school in Nara City must has each of these in their possession, all built in the same
way.

Apart from the color that was used to paint the school, it look exactly like New Dawn college.
"Wow, it looks exactly like our school."

Emmy said, his eyes brimming with excitement and enthusiasm, though, a hint of exhaustion and
strained could be seen on his face. He entered community high school with the rest of his team, Fred
walking closely beside him. Blake and his friends behind them, while Eric and the rest of the team walk
in front of them with the coach leading the way.

After what Sunny had done to Blake and his friends, they dare not attack Emmy again, and they also did
their best to not disturb Fred. Sunny had made it clear that day, not to touch his brother again or his
friends, and now that Fred had gotten more close to Emmy even though they didn't really talk much,
they dare not touch him.

They avoided the two of them like a plague and Blake had focused much on his training, he even
managed to get on the substitute after the coach see he had some excellent skills.

The last few days had been rather incredible and thrilling for Emmy, he spent most of his time training
and he had improved a lot, and thus, he managed to get on the substitute.

Although, his stat is not on the same level as many others in the team, but he is confident that he could
make impact with his skill and intelligent, more importantly, a special attribute he had gained on the
first day.

The Football Insight attribute. This attribute alone could change the very outcome of a match if
possessed by an elite coach. Although, Emmy is no coach, but he is confident in his experience as the
captain of the newly awakened students in the past when they have not awakened.

He had been training hard for the laat two days, and also completed all his daily quest, increasing his
stat a little bit.

It wasn't a surprise that his football insight attribute now has 10 points, after completing his daily quest
for the laat two days, Emmy realized he couldn't make much impact in this match with his stat alone,
everyone are naturally stronger than him as they all possessed an ability, their overall stats are higher,
and he might not even be recognized on the pitch.

But then, he remembered the system saying 10 Attribute points will be awarded at the end of the week,
and Friday will make it a week since Emmy had been granted the system. Although, he didn't do the
daily quest on the first day he received the system, he only started the next day which makes it six days,
but Emmy still decided to take a gamble.

He woke up as early as five on Friday morning, did the first two part of the quest, got to school as early
as six, then did the last part and completed his daily quest for today. Not only did he got his rewards for
today after completing the quest, but he also get the 10 Attribute points promised by the system.

'How generous of you, system.'

At first, he thought of pouring all the 10 Attribute points into speed, taking his speed to another level,
but after thinking long and hard, he realized speed alone could not help him, so he decided to pour it all
into Football Insight, playing a gamble as he don't really know how this attribute will help him, and with
such a low point at that.

The coach led them straight into the community high school stadium, where the school soccer team had
been waiting for them with their coach. They were welcome by the community high school team and
the two coaches exchanged a few words before they moved into the training room.

By the time they got back outside, the audience seat had almost been filled with crowd, all of them
students. It was already lunch time so it's only reasonable for the students of community high school to
come watch the match and support their school, a slight disadvantage for new dawn college as they
didn't bring any fans to support them, but still, they never panicked.

Emmy couldn't help but be nervous, not because he was worried though, but due to excitement. He was
too excited that he became nervous.

This is his first official match after all, so he couldn't help it. Although, he's not sure even if he could be
substitute in, but he had a feeling he would.

A few minutes later, both teams jog onto the field with a measured and organized steps, the referee
leading them with the ball in his hand.

New Dawn college are dressed in green jersey and white short, while community wore a complete
purple jersey. The referee called the captains of both teams forward, did a draw to decide who had the
first kick off pass, and it falls in favor of community high school, they start with the 4-4-2 formation while
new dawn college sticks with 4-3-3 formation.
Eric leads the front as usual, being the main striker of the team. The two sides were occupied by two
speed ability user, Karim, the captain lead the midfield with Fred behind him. Fred doesn't really have
much to do in today's match, at least not on the field, as his ability will play a big role today. The coach
only started him to see how much he had improved in building his confident, he would come out for
either Blake or Henry later.

Their defense is also firm, and their keeper also stood calm.

The referee blew his whistle.

"Coach Enzo, I'm sure your players understand the rules of ability in soccer."

Community High school coach said from the sidelines.

Soccer Ability Rules

Football is both a sport and a game that exists before the descent of the Heavenly Tower. People had
been playing soccer in the past before the descent of heavenly tower which gives birth to ability, and it
had been much more interesting back then.

There was no ability, everyone just played with their natural strength, their skills and talent. Their were
some legends that even the best player of this time with an ability could not be compared to them. They
are the gods of football.

But as the evolves, so are the things in the world. Not just soccer, but every other things and the
humans way of living changes after the Heavenly Tower descended.

Abilities had been allowed in sport, and other activities including soccer. But with it came some rules
that every players and team must follow.

In soccer, there's something called soccer ability rules.

These are the set of rules that every ability soccer players must follow. It states all the abilities that can
be used in a soccer match and how some of them should be used.

Reason, there are some abilities that are naturally destructive in nature, and players could use them to
attack their opponents for ball, so they're prohibited.

The likes of energy projection, mind control, mind attack, earth ability, fire manipulation, water
manipulation, lightning, electrokinesis and so on. They're all prohibited, but some people can still use
some of this abilities to strengthen themselves, either to channel the ability to their feet to increase
their speed, or channel it throughout their whole body to increase their overall stat.

Take Eric for example, he could do just that with his fire ability. He could also infuse his flame with the
ball, giving it a lightning speed and make it unstoppable, but that was prohibited.

Of course, every football players knows these rules, coach Enzo had even repeated it several times to his
players the previous day, so they all knew it well. The community high school was just trying to keep him
in check.

Coach Enzo smile, then nodded.

"Don't worry, they won't dare break the rules, you should keep an eye on your players instead."

He said as he turn around and go sit under the tent.

Emmy stare at the coach on the bench where he was sitting with other players, then turn his attention
back to the field.

'I hope he don't forget me on the bench.'

He thought.

As the referee blew his whistle, the community high school striker wasted no time passing the kick off to
his players, the midfielders received it and the pitch came alive.

The strikers of new dawn college charged forward in an attempt to gain the ball as they attack from all
sides. The opponent midfielders meanwhile, stay calm and maintain composure as they pass the ball
among themselves.

With their 4-4-2 formation, their midfield and defense will be as firm as ever, so they remain calm and
played the ball diligently. But the three strikers of new dawn college were not panicking, the two
wingers have affinity to speed, while Eric, the main striker could double his speed with his ability, so
they also remained calm and attack diligently, waiting for the right opportunity to snatch the ball from
their opponents.

But the right opportunity didn't come anytime soon.

The number 4 of community high school pass the ball to right back, number 2, who received the ball and
control it with a single touch, then he look up and pass it right to the number 8, one of the midfielders.
Fred was in charge of keeping this one in check, so he rush forward to intercept him from getting the
ball, after hesitating for a dozen seconds.

But before Fred got to him, the boy already received the ball with his chest. The ball remained on his
chest for a couple seconds, then he dropped it, control with his feet and turn around in an instant. Fred
had already gotten behind him at that moment, but he easily got him out of the way with simple dribble
and he pass the ball between Fred's shaky leg and continue moving forward.
Karim, who the ball had gotten past before it landed, quickly retreated back and join the third
midfielder, Lucas, together they forced the number 8 to stop in his track. He look up at the two, smile
and made slight pass to his right side, which was received by the number 2 who was already running
from behind.

The number 2 didn't waste no time controlling the ball, he launched it forward straight away with a long
pass to the number 11. As the ball streak through the air, heading towards the community high school
number 11, two of new dawn college defenders, already gotten information from the keeper, rushed
towards the opponent's number 11 as the ball headed towards him.

The boy on the other hand, as if he had known the two defenders will come for him, rushed forward
towards the ball as he stop waiting for it. He rushed forward and jump up, received the ball on is chest
and did a volley as he kick the ball mid-air before it touch the ground.

The ball again, streak forward to the left side of new dawn college penalty box where the community
second winger, number 7 was already waiting patiently.

"Fall back! He's planning a volley!"

Farouq, the new dawn college best goalkeeper shouted, as he had already forsee the winger's move.

The other two defenders rushed to him, while the two retreated back to the goalpost.

And just as the keeper had said, as the ball was above ground level right in front of him, he raised his
right foot up and kick the ball mid-air, smacking it to the ground as it bounced right towards the top
right corner of goalpost.

But the keeper saved it easily with a punch, sending it to corner kick.

The first dozen minutes was in favor of community high school, the dominate the midfield with their
great teamwork and tactics, and their defenders did their best to make the opponent's strikers didn't get
past them. Although, after the first attempt, community high school hadn’t had any other shot on target,
but the possession was in their favor, even if new dawn college gain the ball, it didn't stay long in their
possession, as the pressure community high school put on their midfield is too much.

They are taking advantage of Fred who was naturally the weak point to their midfielder. Whenever he
got the ball, he would either hesitate before passing which always cost him to lose the ball, or kick it
outside. The lack of confidence was hunting him down, he was doing well if he had no one attacking him,
and play diligently, but he play roughly when the opponent player approach him. And they were taking
this advantage.

Constantly putting pressure on the midfielder.

His teammates had even thought of not giving him passess again, but that also means a man short at the
midfield, and midfield is the engine of the team.
The players were getting frustrated as they urge the coach to remove him.

Coach Enzo couldn't help but smile.

"Emmy what do you think."

He said from the sidelines to Emmy who was on the bench under the tent.

Making A Change

"Emmy, what do you think?"

The coach said from the sidelines.

Emmy stared at himself, then turned to the people around him before standing up to meet the coach.

"The coach seems to favor him a lot."

One of the boys on the bench said.

"Tsk! What's so special about him."

Another said. They are without a doubt, part of Blake's group, Blake on the other hand, had separated
himself from them, trying to focus on the match.

"Do you also think I should remove Fred? Everyone wants me to remove him, do you also have the same
thought?"

The coach asked with a smile.

Emmy never expected the coach to ask him this question. Yes it's true that the coach plays favoritism
with him, but what does this have to do with him. If anything, he also wants Fred to be removed, but he
knew the reason the coach had put him in the match.

Winning the match is not his goal in the first place, it's a friendly match after all, but to some of them
including Emmy himself, the match means a lot to them. So his answer might very well dictate the result
of this match as the coach will surely do whatever he says.

Emmy took in a deep breathe and said.

"If I didn't know why you have him in the match, I would definitely have the same thought as everyone
and urge you to remove him, but I know your reason for doing this. Although, Fred is the main flaw of
the team, constantly losing the ball to the opponent, and making the midfield a weak point of the team,
we're only catching up because of the defenders and the keeper's skills and ability. If not, I'm afraid we
would've conceded a dozen goals by now."

Emmy continued.

"But Fred is not the only problem in the team."

The coach raised an eyebrow and said.

"How so?"

He asked.

Emmy nodded and continued.

"Look at it this way. Let's assume Fred got a red card and we are one man short, will his position be left
uncovered? Absolutely no, the other two midfielders will cover for him and the one of the strikers will
retreat back, but that's not happening."

"Apart from the captain who's everywhere, the other midfielder is not doing his job properly, he's not
covering the captain's back. And the strikers are just standing in the opponent's box, probably defending
for them. They're not retreating back to attack, and the pressure is being put on the captain while the
blame I naturally being put on Fred. The strikers don't even look as if they're on the field at all, they
didn't even have a sweat on them."

The coach couldn’t help but smile.

"I never knew you had this much Insight on football, you sound like a coach with 5 years of experience."

Coach Enzo complimented him.

Emmy meanwhile, stare at the system as a message suddenly appeared.

[If you ever get the chance to play today, make a change to the game and lead your team to victory]

[Reward:???]

'Oh wow.'

Emmy exclaimed as he quickly turn his attention back to the coach.

"I just happened to pay much attention to the match, not a special skill. So in my opinion, I think Fred
should stay, they just need to restrategize themselves and the strikers should work with the midfielders.
If that happens, I'm sure Fred will achieve what you wants him to achieve."

The coach look at him, the smile still etched on his face.

"But won't that feel like an humiliation to him if he still remain there, you know some people can't
afford much embarrassment, and I could already see that he's starting to feel dejected."

The coach said.

Emmy look at Fred on the field who had his head down, his leg stumbling on one another, the boy really
look dejected, but if he allow this to kill his spirit, then he can't be a great player.

But that's not for Emmy to decided.

He look at the coach, then nodded.

"Now I want you to get changed, it's time for you get in."

Coach Enzo said with a smile.

"Huh, I'm going in? Now?"

Emmy asked, surprised.

"What, you don't want to go in."

The coach said.

"No, I mean yes I'm going."

Emmy said as he quickly turn around, get changed and did a quick warm up before going back to the
coach. He had number 20 written bold at the back of his jersey with no name on it, none of them had
name written on their jersey.

"I want you to go in and coordinate the match, help Karim reduce his burden and get he strikers more
active into the game. You'll be playing as 4 while Karim should move to 10, you must make a change."

The coach explained as he signals for the referee for a substitute.

"I just hope he can make a change."

Blake muttered, looking as Emmy prepared to enter. The initial plan was for Blake to substitute Fred but
now it seems the coach had changed it. But Blake wasn't sad, he just hope Emmy can make a change in
the match, his opinion of him had changed after training together for the past two days.
Everyone now know that Emmy has the qualities of a great leader, the team captain. The way he
coordinate and give strategy in training shows a lot.

On the field, Fred was already running forward, already preparing to come out after hearing the whistle
blow for substitution, but he was surprised when the substitution board was raised, showing number 10
coming out of 20.

Not just him but everyone was surprised, including Emmy himself, who turn around and look at the
coach.

"If he can't carry on, then he can't be a great midfielder."

The coach said with a smile.

It was exactly what Emmy thought.

The number 10 was the third midfielder, Fred plays 8 while the captain play 4, but now that Emmy has
entered, the captain will be playing 10 while Emmy will play 4.

It was already ten minutes to the end of first half as Emmy entered, so he wasted no time passing the
instructions given by the coach to others. After the telepathy defender had passed the information,
everyone regroup and the match got back into motion.

The possession was 60 - 40, in favor of community high school, they had more shots than new dawn
college, both off target and on target, corners and everything, community high school are completely
dominating the chart, and that's what Emmy is supposed to change.

A Tactical Player

The match resumed back with the ball back in community high school possession, it was with their
goalkeeper before the referee paused the match for substitution.

On the stands, the students of community high school who were watching the match couldn't help but
criticize Coach Enzo, new dawn college coach.

"Did their coach hit his head or something? That number 8 boy is clearly the problem in the team, why
did the remove the fine midfielder instead of him."
"Something must be wrong with his head, for real."

"Look at the person be brought in, he looks no different from that timid number 8."

"Haha maybe they're brothers."

"But they really need to check up their coach, something must be wrong with him."

"What does that have to do with us, as long as we defeat them, it doesn't matter who the coach brought
in."

The stands was full of all kinds of criticism, and if students from new dawn college were here, two things
would've happened. It's either they'll left angrily, or a fight breaks out between the two fans, one of
those would've happened.

But it's likely the former because even the new dawn players on the bench were doubting their coach
decision as they discuss among themselves.

"What is the coach thinking."

One of the new comers said, among Blake’s group.

"He's probably out of it. Wasn't Fred supposed to come out for Blake?"

Another said.

"But Fred is still on the field, and Blake is still here, isn't it? So he'll probably come out for him later."

The number 10 who had come out for Emmy said, as he walk towards them with a bottle water in his
hand.

"But Blake was supposed to go in before Emmy, and change the flow of the match. What is-"

"You guys talk too much! Can you keep quite and watch the match?"

Blake shunned them.

Back on the field.

The game got back on motion as the community high school goalkeeper pass the ball to the defenders,
and Eric charged forward with his attack.

While the defenders of community high school play the ball among themselves and trap Eric within their
circle, Karim, the captain find his way towards Emmy and approach him.

"Did coach tell you why Fred is still on the pitch?"

Karim asked, his eyes focused on the ball and his left hand was slightly covering his mouth.
"No."

Emmy replied, not doing as if they were talking.

"But why is he doing this, we'll definitely lose at this point."

Karim complained, sounding frustrated.

Emmy briefly glanced at him and said.

"Are you doubting your coach?"

He asked.

"No, it's just that-"

"I'm sure he has his own reason. Now let's just do as he said, let's get the ball and restart the play."

Emmy said with a smile.

Although, Emmy is not on the same level as the captain, Karim is a level 5 ability user and a year 3
student, but in the team, apart from the coach, he's the only one who interact with Emmy the most. And
recently, their interaction had even grown more casual during training.

The captain briefly look at him, then charge forward while Emmy fall back, while at the same time, the
two wingers charge in to support Eric attack the defenders, forcing them to kick the ball out in a
desperate manner to not lose the ball to the strikers.

Even with their desperation, they still managed to kick the ball to the midfield at Fred's position, the
supposed weak point. The ball got to Fred who control it with a diligent move, controlling the ball is not
his problem nor does he have any problem making brilliant moves, but once he see the approach of an
opponent, he won't know what to do, and just at the moment, the opponent's number was already
charging towards him.

Immediately, all his teammates yell his name, urging him to pass the ball. The three strikers were
shouting his name in a frustrating and commanding tone, the defenders were also doing the same and
the captain was also running towards him to receive the ball, while at the same time, community high
school number 8 continue running towards him.

'Now I see.'

Emmy couldn't help but thought.

Fred is literally lost in a dilemma, he was being pressure, not only by the opponent but also his players.

'And they expected him to play well, these idiots.'

With a calculated move, Emmy charged towards Fred and called his name from behind. But he wasn't
calling him for the ball though like everyone else, he threw a glance at the community high school
number 8 who was already a few meters away from Fred, and the timid boy himself was already
preparing to kick the ball away.

"Fred!"

The boy briefly turn to look at Emmy, thinking he was also calling him for the boy like everyone.

'I should give it to Emmy, he'll make good use of it.'

He thought as he prepared to give a short pass to him, but what Emmy said next made him stop and
stare in surprise.

"Calm down! Don't pass the ball for anyone. Dribble the idiot and make use of your ball."

Emmy shouted, still running towards him. A surprise look could be seen not only on Fred's face, but
everyone that heard what Emmy said, but somehow, Fred seemed to gain some confidence from his
words.

He turn around and slowly moves the ball forward and the number eight charge towards him, although,
determination shone in his face, but his leg was visibly shaking, nevertheless, he moves the ball
diligently.

When the number 8 was in an attacking range to him, Fred briefly stopped in front of him, he moves the
ball between his legs a few times, and when the opponent's number stretched hid right leg forward, to
attack and get the ball, Fred simply made a slight touch to the ball, making it moves in between the
opponent's stretched leg and the other.

The ball move between the number 8 legs and gone past him. Everyone was surprised for this and the
number 8 himself was stunned, standing motionless in where the ball had gone past him. Fred seeing
this picked up his race, trying to run after the ball, but he suddenly fall down for no reason.

"Don't worry, you've done your job. Nice one."

Emmy said from behind Fred who was already trying to get up. The captain had already catch up to the
loose ball, but instead of moving forward with it, he turn around and made a long pass to the
goalkeeper, then the keeper gave a command for everyone to fall back and start the ball from behind.

As Fred got up, he couldn't help buy stare at with a strange expression, an expression mixed with all
kinds of emotion.

"Tsk! You didn't even succeed I dribbling him, let's try again."

Emmy said as he rushed back to his position.

Now with the ball back in their position, they decided to make good use of it, the keeper gave it to the
defenders who pass it among themselves before giving it to Emmy. The two strikers of community high
school rush to him immediately he got the ball.

Emmy is not very skilled in dribbling, his greatest weapon is his passing, so getting past two strikers
might be a little hard. He did a leg over for the first and drag the ball to his right, then when the second
striker attack, he threw the ball to Fred who control it diligently.

"Give it back!"

Emmy shouted, the same number 8 was already running towards Fred, and Emmy was also doing the
same from behind. Hearing Emmy's word, Fred look up and pass the ball back to Emmy, two opponent's
midfielders surged forward to intercept the ball from getting to Emmy.

"Now run!"

Emmy shouted again immediately the boy released the ball.

Fred listened to his words and pick his race, running past the number 8 who immediately follow him
behind. As the ball streaked towards Emmy, the two midfielders were already getting close to him,
ready to stop whatever plans he has. Even his players were quite surprised, they couldn't understanding
what Emmy was thinking but all they knew is that Fred was listening to him and played well.

As the ball get to him, Emmy control it with his chest, then before the ball could get on the floor, he
kicked with his left leg, throwing a through pass to Fred who had almost gotten close to new dawn
college left winger.

"Take it to their penalty box!"

Emmy shouted again. The number 8 was still running after Fred, and the community high school number
4, upon seeing the ball was headed to Fred, also approached him from the side.

Fred turned around, wait for the ball to get to him, make it dropped on his chest and make a swift turn,
completely going past the number 4 that had gotten behind him, then he charged forward again, leaving
everyone with their mouth hung opened.

As usual, everyone was calling him to pass the ball, shouting his name from every angle, but this time,
Fred wasn't listening, it as if the only person's voice he could hear on the field was Emmy's, and he will
do what Emmy ask him to do with the ball.

He run past his team left winger who stood in place, stunned. His goal is the opponent's penalty box, so
he never stop. The left back came with a sliding tackle, but all Fred did was a quick stopper, and the
defender slide past him, then he continue running forward until he finally get outside the opponent's
box, at the left side with two defenders in front of him.

"Now look at the center."

Emmy's voice came again, but he didn't even wait for him to finish before passing the ball to Eric who
was in front of the opponent's box.

"Eric, it's yours!"

Fred shouted with a strangely calm voice. It was as if he was possessed, the timid boy a moment ago
was completely gone.

Seeing the pass was meant for him, Eric didn't wait for the ball to get to him as the defenders wouldn't
allow him to move if it did, he charge towards the ball himself, then with his left foot, he played a
parallel shot into the bottom left corner of the post.

And then...

The keeper saved it at the last seconds.

A Stunning Victory

The ball was only a few inches away from crossing the line when the keeper's hand suddenly stretched
towards the ball, and grabbed the ball with his large fist. Everyone was momentarily stunned for a
moment, not just for the keeper saving the ball at the last moment, but also for Fred's performance.

"Am I seeing things or the pass really came from that number 8?"

"If you're seeing things it means I'm also seeing the same."

"Not just the pass, he even go past the midfielders and the defenders."

"Did he get possessed or something?"

"Everything he was doing before, was it all an act?"

"It doesn't make sense."

Everyone couldn't believe what they had just seen, from the start to the last dozen minutes of first half,
Fred had been the weakness of the team, playing nothing but trash for the team, while the opponent
take advantage of him to get the upper hand in the game.

But it all changes when Emmy got into the game. Although, the audience were not able to hear the
instructions Emmy had been giving Fred, but it was clear to them that Emmy and Fred had pull
something up, because since getting into the game, Emmy pass for nobody but Fred, and the boy was
able to handle the ball well and even dribble a few defenders.

"That bastard, I think he got inspired by Emmy."

A new dawn college player said on the bench.

"Was that the coach's plan for bringing Emmy in?"

Another asked.

The coach himself, meanwhile, couldn't help but smile as he turn back to sit under the tent.

"Now, that's more like it."

He muttered.

The firs half was coming to a conclusion, only a couple left before the referee blow for the half time. In
that couple minutes, the match turn fierce than ever with new dawn college showing their superiority at
the midfield while community high school battle them at the defense. The first half came to an end with
0-0 draw, but the possession changed from before.

Although, the possession and the overall stats was still in favor of community high school but everyone
knew it won't be the same for the second half.

"Well done boys."

Coach Enzo said as his players come out of the field, clapping for them.

They were given five minutes of rest so they didn't bother going to the changing to discuss, Instead,
everyone of them sat at the side of the pitch, with the coach standing in front of them, discussing with
them. The same is happening at the other team.

"....we still have a lot of time to score some goals, the victory is ours."

The coach after giving them a brief analysis of the first half, what should have been done to cover Fred

After a little while, the match resumed back, community high school made a few changes at the start of
the second half, while new dawn college made none.

Community High School were doing their best to get their opponent midfield off cause, while New Dawn
college were trying to connect the ball with their strikers, who were already pinned down by the
community high school defenders.

Then, after about ten minutes the second half started, Coach Enzo finally made his move, he got Fred
out for Blake and the scope of the game changed immediately.

Blake came in for Fred to support Emmy and Karim at the midfield, and with hid ability, the scope of the
game change in favor of new dawn college.

Blake's ability deals with duplication, he could duplicate anything he touches or anything that touch him
excluding living things, and just as he got onto the field, the stalemate in the midfield was broken almost
in an instant.

The pressure that was put in the midfield was reduce and the new dawn college strikers were finally
given chance to make an attempt.

With a single touch of the ball, Blake was able to control the midfield, he confused opponent by creating
duplicates of the ball after making a pass, with this, the opponent players were lost in a dilemma of
which was the real ball, and thus, they were confused.

Although, all the duplicates were real, but Blake could easily control them all and make them disappear,
leaving only one intact.

Community High School doesn't have any player who could suppress him or his ability, or they were
defeated. The match ended with 5-0 goals, new dawn college taking the lead.
