Note Making

Notes are short written records of facts to help remember them. These can be used as references
as and when necessary.

Essential aspects:

 Should be short, concise and compact


 Should contain complete information
 Should be logical
 Should be understandable even if referred to later

How to create notes

 Headings and subheadings: Headings relate to main theme while subheadings indicate
how it has been developed. Proper assimilation of ideas helps create appropriate headings
and subheadings.
 Abbreviations and symbols: These should be recognizable and understandable.
 Note form: Means information has to be listed in notes and main points only. There
should be no complete sentences. It should move logically and chronologically
wherever applicable.
 Numbering and indentation: There should be proper numbering of notes. It should
progress from the left to the right. Indentation means leaving space at the beginning
of a line.

Key to Abbreviations

(Restrict abbreviations to 5/6 valid ones, Avoid confusing abbreviations)

Summary ( restrict to 5-6 sentences, to be written in your own words, no copying of


text from question) Do not use abbreviations in the summary. It should be always
written in the third person.
