BTVN WRITING TASK 1
The given diagram illustrates three different types of crime in England and Wales
from 1970 to 2005.
Overall, three distinct types of crime in England and Wales all increased. While
the proportion of house burglary and street robbery slightly rose, the proportion
of car theft experienced the greatest growth in this period.
Initially, the proportion of street robbery maintained approximately at 0 until
1990, before it moderately increased to proximately at 0.2 in 2000 and remained
relatively unchanged to 2005. In contrast, the figures of house burglary
significantly increased from 0.2 to 0.6 in 1980. Subsequently, it was very stable
to 1985 and slightly increased 1993 before it decreased to approximately at 0.5 in
2005.
As for the proportion of car theft, it increased very moderately for next 20 years,
from 0.4 to 0.8 in 1980 and from 0.8 to 1 in 1990. After that, the figures sharply
increased roughly at 1.6 in 1995. Finally, it strongly decreased to 1 in 2005.
