Chapter 10 – End and Fall of the Revolution
“IMAGINE THIS…”
Imagine you’re in a big school contest. Your team has one super serious, focused player
– that’s General Luna. But your team captain – Mr. Aguinaldo – doesn’t really like being
outshined, so he ignores this guy's help. In the end, the serious guy gets pushed out by
jealous teammates, and the whole team loses. That’s kinda what happened to the
Philippine Revolution.
Filipino troops were unprepared when Americans attacked in Feb 1899
● Aguinaldo lacked military strategy and failed to support Gen. Luna
● Gen. Luna tried to restore discipline but was opposed and eventually assassinated
● Aguinaldo didn’t stop the killing and weakened the army by allowing it
● U.S. forces advanced easily, capturing key locations
● Mabini believed Luna’s death was the beginning of the end
● Aguinaldo’s jealousy, favoritism, and poor leadership led to the Revolution’s collapse
Mabini’s Key Insights
1. Unity is essential for victory
