Warehouse Management Monitor Framework

Introduction:
A warehouse monitor is a central tool in EWM which in addition to monitoring
capabilities can also be used to execute work in the warehouse.
• It lets the manager / supervisor to monitor and control different warehouse
activities.
• Comprehensive view of inbound, outbound and internal processes with
related documents.
• Predefined reports for most of the processes.
• Can execute work in the warehouse such as confirmation of tasks, change
queues for resources, release waves and many more
• Adaptive and flexible to suit customized requirements.
• Create own monitor with own reports and methods.
• Create or hide nodes for a user specific view of the warehouse activities.

-Transaction -/SCWM/MON.
Before jump into configuration, the basic structure of the warehouse monitor
is
Selection screen:
Monitor Configuration:
We can create a completely new monitor with own content or we can
enhance the SAP standard monitor and choose to make changes for all
users or only for specific users.

Path->SPRO->SCM Extended Warehouse Management | EWM |

Monitoring | Warehouse Management Monitor-> customize monitor
tree node
• To Creating Custom Monitor will go customize monitor tree node.

• Default standard monitor open. For creating new monitor, we should drag
from standard monitor drop at new monitor and click on save.
• We will give warehouse number and monitor name after drag and drop
from standard monitor
• Custom monitor generate ex: 1710 warehouse number, monitor name
znew_m .

• Define Monitor:
• In real time we don’t have access to define monitor in custom monitor tree
node .so we can create monitor through define monitor also.

• SCM Extended Warehouse Management | EWM | Monitoring |

Warehouse Management Monitor | Define Monitors
• Select the exiting monitor click on copy .
• Copy all and give warehouse number and monitor name click on save .
Ex: I gave 1710 and monitor name zsap .

Define Node Hierarchy:

• A new monitor which is created by Define Monitor has to be selected and Node
hierarchy has to be defined.
• Ex: select 1710 warehouse and zsap monitor in define monitor in define
monitor .
Click on define node hierarchy
• Node hierarchy indicates the sequence of nodes to be appeared in the Monitor
and also specifies the child nodes for a particular parent.
It shows selected monitor hierarchy like above.

Define Categories:
SCM Extended Warehouse Management | EWM | Monitoring |
Warehouse Management Monitor | Define Nodes | Define Categories.
• Categories indicate tree nodes that are used for grouping in Monitor left-hand
side.
• These nodes do not have any selection screen associated with it.
• Also, they do not have Node profiles.

Ex: for znew_m monitors inbound Categories INBOUN

• For Define Categories Node We Have Click On New Entries.
• Give Category name and text click on save.
Define Nodes:
SCM Extended Warehouse Management | EWM | Monitoring | Warehouse
Management Monitor | Define Nodes | Define Node
• Nodes are elements of Monitor tree hierarchy on the left-hand-side.
• Nodes are used for specific functions (like to know stock situation, delivery
details, warehouse tasks info etc.). These are associated with a selection screen. •
Categories are nodes which are used for grouping.
• Behind every node there is a function module linked to it, which contains the
logic or functionality of the node.
• Nodes are assigned to Node profiles.
• Click on new entries give node ex:(ZN0000001, ZN0000002for node profile)
give category already define in category, text and presentation text. Click
on save.
Define Node profiles:
SCM Extended Warehouse Management | EWM | Monitoring | Warehouse
Management Monitor | Define Nodes | Define Node Profiles
• Node profile provides the information about the specific node.
• Every node profile is linked to a specific node.
• The Node profile is the key to determine which object class and function
module will trigger for the node.
For creating new node profile click on new entries .
Give node profile (ZN0001) and text. Click on save.
Define Object Classes:
SCM Extended Warehouse Management | EWM | Monitoring | Warehouse
Management Monitor | Define Nodes | Define Object Classes
Object classes indicate the group of operations that are performed in the
Warehouse Monitor.
• Every object class is associated with separate class methods.
• Every node is linked to an object class, which in turn indicates the methods
of object class to be performed on that node
Example: Methods of Storage Bin Node
• Object classes can be defined as below:
SCM Extended Warehouse Management | EWM | Monitoring | Warehouse Management
Monitor | Define Nodes | Define Object Classes
Click on new entries, give object name (znw_ob) click on save.
Define Object class Methods:
SCM Extended Warehouse Management | EWM | Monitoring | Warehouse
Management Monitor | Define Object Class Methods | Define Methods
• Object class methods for a particular object class are defined in this step.
• These object class methods can be seen in the “More methods” icon in the
list view (OR) as a Pushbutton/Icon in the ALV toolbar.
• Every method performs certain operation on the selected record in the list
view.
• Each method is associated with a function module.
While defining a method below aspects has to be considered:

✓ Method Function module It indicates the function module that executes the
object class method
Method Icon, It indicates the icon to be displayed on the method’s pushbutton in
the ALV toolbar. The icon will be displayed only if the method is represented as -
Normal Pushbutton with icon (or)
- Normal Pushbutton with Icon and Text.
• Click on New Entries, give defined object class and define the method
(ZN001). Click on the save button then object class method is defined.
Methods Representation:
SCM Extended Warehouse Management | EWM | Monitoring | Warehouse
Management Monitor | Define Object Class Methods | Define Methods
Presentation
Select the [Link] what we created (znw_ob).click on define method presentation
• This step indicates how the method is represented in a Monitor, click on new
entries.
• Give object class, sequence ,method prestation as normal with text.
- Pushbutton with Icon
- Pushbutton with Text
- Pushbutton with Icon and text
- Accumulated methods menu button (if this is selected, method will be shown in
“More methods” Icon in the toolbar.
• Even the sequence of the methods for the particular object class is
specified here
Example – Methods in inbound delivery Node in the More methods icon
Monitor Technical Developments:
• To define nodes in monitor we should do hierarchy between monitor, and
category node and nodes and node profile.
Step1: for creating hierarchy will go to define monitor ->select already created
monitor click on node hierarchy.
Step2: click on selection option to find out highest node number.
• Click on by contents.
Give higher level node as ROOT . Click on choose
See Root highest number 11.
Step 3: Click on new entries of respective monitor. Define custom node as below.
Click on save .
Step 4: define nodes with respective category and node profile .
Result: check t-code ---> /scwm/Mon .
• If we double click on ex: Tote Management don’t get selection
screen for that we define structure and table type, function
module.
• We can define structure and table type; FM Mention define node
profile for related node profile as shows in below.
Structure:
• Open the SAP system.
• Enter transaction code ‘SE11’ in top left.
• Select ‘Data type’ option radio button.
• Enter a suitable name for the structure (again, beginning with ‘Z’ or ‘Y’) and
click on the ‘Create’ button to proceed

Now, select the option ‘Structure’ and hit enter. This opens a popup window of
‘Maintain/Change Structure’.
• Enter a ‘Short Description’ of what the structure is about, in your own
words for reference.
• Type in the Component and Component type (which is basically a
combination of the two things that make up a structure – field name & data
element)
• We have created the structure now. You can save it and use it as per the
requirement.

Table type:
• Go to SE11 and enter name of table type. Click on Create.
• Select Table Type.
Enter short description. In Line Type can be structure, table or any data type.
• Save and activate it.

Function module/Function Group:

• Execute SE37
• Enter Function module name ZEWM_FM_TOTE_MON and choose Create.
• Enter Function group ZEWM_FG_TOTE_MON, short text and click Save.

• Choose Import tab to enter importing parameters.

• Choose Export tab to enter exporting parameters.

• Choose Source code and enter code for function module between
FUNCTION and ENDFUNCTION statement. Note that the interface defined
for the function module reflects in the commented section of source code.
• Design selection screen in FG in top include .
• Double click on top include .
• Design the selection screen in above manner through the code .
