Module 2 Case Study-1

Problem Statement:
Safe Health Services Ltd. (SHSL) is a conglomerate with hospitals across 25 countries. SHSL's
vision is to make world class medical expertise available cheaply and easily to the patients. SHSL
currently owns 50 hospitals. On an average 5000 patients are served at each hospital each year.
SHSL has plans to increase the number of hospitals to 250 in coming 10 years. These hospitals
should be able to serve 1.5 million patients annually.

This plan will succeed only if SHSL has strong processes and IT systems in place. SHSL has a
legacy home-grown enterprise resource planning system. This system caters to the need of
hospital administration, finance team and HR team. However, each of these groups have been
facing challenges which were regularly reported to the governance and IT department.

SHSL is now looking for a solution to cater to its requirements.

You have been asked to:


Exercise 1:

Identify business need for this project.

Exercise 2:

Read the case study and assume that you have been assigned to this project as an IT Business
Analyst. List the tasks that you will perform once you start working on this project.

Exercise 3:
Read the SHSL case study once again and list the stakeholders whom you want to meet to elicit
project requirements.

Exercise 4:

Read the SHSL case study once again and prepare a detailed Business Analysis Work Plan. Use
template shown below. Keep your tasks as granular as possible.

Task Types can be: Planning, Preparation, Information Elicitation, Analysis, Modelling,
Documentation, etc.
