Good [morning/afternoon/evening], everyone,
It’s truly an honor for me to stand here today and welcome you all to our campus.
On behalf of all the seniors, I would like to extend the warmest greetings to each
of you, our new friends, classmates, and future partners in all the adventures that
lie ahead.
This reception is a tradition that reminds us that you’re not just joining a
department—you’re joining a family. It’s a moment to break the ice, to put names
to faces, and to start building the connections that will make your time here
unforgettable.
Our department is more than just a place where we study grammar or analyze
poems. It’s a space where imagination meets critical thinking, where stories from
centuries ago still resonate with us today, and where words—whether written or
spoken—become powerful tools for expression. You’ll discover that studying
English isn’t only about the past, but also about understanding the present and
even shaping the future.
The Department of English is known for its friendly and collaborative
environment, and you are now part of that. We often arrange fun events like the
picnic, which took place some months ago where all the faculty members from
the department head and the students were united and doing sports, singing,
playing music, etc. There were all the ingredients for healthy entertainment
You will find that the Department of English is a place where curiosity is
encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and conversations never truly end. Our
faculty will inspire you to look beyond the surface, your classmates will challenge
and support you, and yes, your seniors will be there to share advice and the
occasional coffee when deadlines get too close for comfort.
So, as you enjoy the food, the music, and the fun of this reception,
remember—it’s not just about celebrating your start here, it’s about starting to
make this department your home. Once again, welcome to the Department of
English. May your time here be filled with curiosity, creativity, and connections
that last a lifetime. Thank you.
