How to open Ms Excel:

1. Press Windows key + R ==> To open Run Prompt
2. Type excel
3. Press enter key from the keyboard
Note: Ms excel loading template files

Click on Blank Workbook in the template list

Excel interface:
1. Title Bar: There are 3 components
QAT: Quick Access Toolbar
Name of File + Name of Application
Control buttons: Minimize, Maximize, Restore, Close

To Minimize ==> alt+Spacebar+N


To Recycle application ==> Alt+Tab
To Restore ==> Alt+Spacebar+R (Become Smaller Screen)
To Maximize ==> Alt+Spacebar+X
To Close ==> Alt+Spacebar+C ==> To Close
Alt+F4 ==> Alternative

2. Tabs: also called Menus


Press Alt key to open Access Keys
Home H
Insert N
Page layout P
Formula M
Data A
Review R
View W
Note: Press Esc key to come out
3. Ribbon bar:
Ctrl+F1 ==> To Hide and Show Ribbon bar
consists of option groups
examples:
Home ==> ClipBoard, Font, Alignment, Number, Styles, cells, Editings

Each Groups has list of options


Clipboard: Cut, Copy, Paste, etc...

4. Formula Bar: There are 2 parts


1. Name box also called Cell Address
2. Formula bar itself

5. Working area: WORKBOOK Area


Ctrl+N ==> To Get New Workbook
Ctrl+W ==> To Close Workbook
Ctrl+S ==> To save workbook
Ctrl+O ==> To open Workbook

What is workbook?
it is a collections of worksheets
By default only one Worksheets or spreadsheet providing

How to insert worksheets in a workbook?


Press Shift+F11 to insert worksheets
Sheet Tabs: Sheet1 | Sheet2 | Sheet3

6. Status Bar:
View types: Normal View, Page Layout, PageBreak preview
Magnifier Bar: increase and decrease zoom
Holding ctrl key + Use Scroll up and Scroll Down

Rows : 12345..............1048576 (These are called as Rows Headings)
Columns : ABCD...............XFD (These are called as Columns Headings)

Maximum no. of Rows = 1048576


Maximum No of columns = 16384

Gridlines: Reference lines for Rows and columns


By Default Gridlines are non printable

Hide / Show
View tab ==> Headings
View tab ==> Gridlines
View tab ==> Formula Bar (part 1 = Name box (cell address area)
(Part 2 = Formula bar itselft)

Marks Table:
To Select : center point of cell then click and drag
To fill: Select first 2 numbers, Select first jan and feb
then place cursor in place of black point
then click and drag
To get dummy no: =randbetween(35,99)
Total : =sum(d3:i3)
Average: =average(d3:i3)
min: =min(d3:i3)
max: =max(d3:i3)

default Alignment:
Numbers: Right Alignment
Text: Left alignment

Note: Apply borders, Decrease Decimal Places


Merge and center, fill color, Borders
