Writing week 7:

In this day and age, modern technology had made shopping a hot bed for debaters. While some people
say that technology is bad for shopping, I believe that modern technology had made shopping easier for
people.

On the one hand, it is understandable that technology is bad for shopping. The main reason is that it
actually takes a long time to shop online. The reason lies on the fact that to shop, you need to download
the app, then, make customizations, and then choose what item, and find it out. And there is the fact
that you need to spend time to buy it, and choose how to deliver it. Then, you have to wait for 2 more
days to get it. In the shops, however, you just need to choose what item and bring it to the counter. It is
way more simple than online shopping. Another reason is that shopping in the store can have access to
lots of destinations. In a store, there may be bakeries, fruits and vegables side. Then, out of the shop,
there is coffee shops nad stuff like that. It is way more convenient than just looking at the phone scrolling
and then open another app to buy this drink.

On the other hand, I strongly believe that modern technology had made shopping easier for people.
Firstly, it is very convenient. You don’t need to use your moterbike to drive 1 or 2 kilomerters just to buy
a vegetable or fruit. You just click on the app, search, and then buy it rather than going to the intence
heat outside. Another reason that makes me support this idea is that it is packed all in one place. In
supermarkets, they use a lot of tactics to force you to buy things or to make you stay in the store longer.
In digital, however, they cannot use these tactics and you are more safer.

From what we have discussed above, we may draw an conclusion that modern technology had made
shopping easier for people.

Task 1: Bar charts

The bar chart illustrates data about the favorite leisure activities that teenage boys and girls do in their
free time in Canada.

Overall, what stands out from the bar chart is that boys favored Sports, Computer Games, and Shopping
while boys and girls prefer Music equally. It is also mentioned that usually, the results suggest that men
usually like shopping together, while Music is the highest for the girl’s perspective.
A closer look at the bar chart reveals that for Sports, about 26% of boys vote for sports, while only about
11% for girls. For computer games, the results seem more equal. Boys score is about 17%, while about
12% is for girls.

For Music, the results are equal for both genders, at about 19%. Shopping is the most drastic difference.
Boys score a massive 34% while for girls, they only score 65, which are the lowest on the group.

Task 1: Table

The table presents the proportion of income adults and children spend on 4 common items in the United
Kingdom in 2005.

Overall, what stands out from the table is that men seem to care more on electronic equipment and
videos, while women primarily focus on food. It is also noted that for children, for the whole, the
percentage is higher than adults in electronic equipment, music, and videos while not really focusing on
food.

A closer look at the chart reveals that for food, women are more significant than men in a landslide.
Women scored 39% while only 14% of men decided to work for food. In contrast, for electronic
equipment, men scored 10% while women scored for only 1%. For music, the gender is equal at 5%. For
videos, men only scored 2% while women only scored 0.5%.

On the children side, for food, girls scored 11% while only 9% of boys care about food. For electronic
equipment, boys score 18% and girls score 5%. For music, the girls won 38% - 40% ratio. For videos, the
difference lay on 1%. Girls are 17% while boys are 18%.
