INVERSION: «Not only … but also»

This structure is used to emphasize two related points and requires


subject-verb inversion in formal or written English.
Structure:

Not only + [auxiliary verb] + subject + [main verb], but also + [rest of sentence].

Examples:
Not only did she master English, but also she became fluent in Arabic.
Not only can AI process data rapidly, but also it can make accurate
predictions.
Not only did he forget my birthday, but also he didn’t apologize.

Common mistake:
Not only she mastered English, but also she became fluent in Arabic.
(incorrect – missing auxiliary verb and inversion)
