2. PURPOSE
The information in this chapter will enable a trained Oceansaver engineer to fully commission the C2E
unit. By following the step-by-step procedure below, the C2E unit will be checked and commissioned
according to best practice.
The purpose for this procedure is to give the BWTS operator a general guideline and useful checkpoints
prior to BWTS start-up, during startup, during operation and after operation, for ballast and deballast
operations.
If the vessel have APT loop and/or 2 disinfectant units, same checkpoints can be used.

3. DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION
Before Starting BWTS Ballast Operation:
• Check that air supply to equipment, instruments and valves is switched on.
• Clear and acknowledge if any alarms, ER101 or check that there are no active alarms.
• Prime and check the chemicals in the TRO-monitor (IA140/240, see manual in OS final doc.).
• Lubricate end switches and ball screw on the filters (CA100/200/410).
• Check that all manual valves is in correct position.
• If the salinity is below 20PSU the APT needs to be filled with sea water, salinity >20PSU.
Starting BWTS Ballast Operation:
• Turn ON all fans, if not running (P/R fan, C2E fans) normally the C2E fans (GK701) is
automatically turned on when starting BWTS.
• Turn ON C2E rectifier cooling pump (if applicable).
• Press BALLAST button for the loop you want to start (loop1/loop2 or booth loops) on BWTS HMI
(IX101). You will then get requests on the BWTS HMI on what the system is preparing and which
valves you need to open. Confirm valve alignment on BWTS HMI.
• When everything is lined up for ballast operation, you will get a request to start BWP and open
the discharge valve to approx. 45% (never run higher flow through filters (CA100/200) than
system is designed for), this is to keep the right flow/pressure in the filter(s). When the feedback
from the BWP is displayed in green you are in a ballast operation.
BWTS Ballast Operation:
• Verify stabile pressure on BWTS loop(s) (PT111/211). Important not below 2bar.
• Verify steady nominal flow on BWTS loop(s) (FT111/211).
• Verify proper TRO readings on TRO-monitor (IA140/240, monitor get sampling water) and C2E
rectifier (1ER976) is active with Amp (current/voltage).
• Filter(s) back flushing is functional (CA100/200/410).
• If water is containing heavy dirt, flow must be reduced more, to keep filters flushing efficient.
After BWTS Ballast Operation:
• Run washing sequence on C2E disinfectant unit (1XX900). Washing tank (TA973) filled with fresh
water and mixed with citric acid. Normal mixing rate is 1Citric acid monohydrate : 9WATER . (Variations may
occur).
• Drain washing tank (TA973) after washing is finished.
• Washing before ballast operation can do C2E (1XX900) startup, flow readings better.
Long Time No Use Off BWTS:
• General for no use >2 months
• Follow OS preservation procedure QA-34-P02.

Before starting BWTS De-Ballast operation:
• Check that air supply to equipment, instruments and valves is switched on.
• Clear and acknowledge if any alarms, ER101 or check that there are no active alarms.
• Prime and check the chemicals in the TRO-monitor (IA140/240, see manual in OS final doc.)
• Check that all manual valves is correct positioned.
Starting BWTS De-ballast operation:
• Turn on P/R fan (if applicable).
• Ensure that TRO-N tank XX150 is filled with fresh water and mixed with STP chemicals. Normal
mixing rate 1STP : 6FRESH WATER.
• Press DE-BALLAST button for the loop you want to start (loop1/loop2 or booth loops) on BWTS
HMI (IX101). You will then get requests on the BWTS HMI on what the system is preparing and
what valves you need to open. Confirm valve alignment on BWTS HMI.
• When everything is ready for de-ballast you will get request to start BWP. When the feedback
from the BWP is displayed in green you are in a de-ballast operation.
BWTS De-ballast Operation:
• Verify proper TRO readings on TRO-monitor (IA140/240, monitor get sampling water).
• If needed – operate overboard valve to get proper backpressure for TRO-monitor (IA140/240).
After BWTS De-ballast Operation:
• N/A
