ABSTRACT
This project introduces a Secure Digital Evidence Management System that
enhances the collection, storage, and analysis of forensic evidence in both cloud
and on-premises settings. Key features include cryptographic hashing for
integrity, blockchain for chain-of-custody tracking, role-based access control,
and secure authentication methods. The system allows efficient management
and verification of evidence, along with compliance report generation.
Additionally, DevOps-driven CI/CD deployment ensures scalability and reliability,
addressing vital challenges in digital forensics for legally defensible evidence
handling.

01
INTRODUCTION
The Secure Digital Evidence Management System is a web-based platform
designed to handle the complete lifecycle of digital evidence in forensic
investigations. It enables secure collection, storage, verification, and retrieval
of evidence while preserving its integrity through cryptographic hashing and
a robust chain-of-custody mechanism. The system incorporates role-based
access control, PKI-based authentication, and encrypted object storage to
protect sensitive data. By integrating monitoring, audit logging, and
compliance reporting, SDEMS ensures transparency, legal admissibility, and
operational efficiency in incident response and digital forensics.

Law Enforcement Agencies – Manage and preserve digital
evidence for criminal investigations
Cyber Forensics Labs – Analyze and store evidence from
cybercrime cases
Corporate Security Teams – Investigate insider threats and data
breaches
Legal Firms – Maintain tamper-proof evidence for court
proceedings
Incident Response Teams – Securely handle breach-related
logs, snapshots, and forensic data
Government Agencies – Preserve sensitive investigation records
with chain-of-custody compliance
