Assignment One: Principles of Insurance in Relation to Legal Principles
Mind Map Assignment Instructions
You are required to create a detailed mind map that presents and critically analyses the
principles of insurance as they relate to other legal principles. This assignment is designed to
help you understand not only the definitions but also how these principles connect and operate
in real legal and commercial settings, especially within the Zambian context.
Group Topics by Registration Number:
Unit 1 :Students falling on register numbers 1 – 149
Unit 2: Students falling on register numbers 150 – 299
Unit 3: Students falling on register numbers 300 and above
Your mind map must include:
• Key concepts and definitions related to your assigned unit
• Relevant case law and examples, especially from Zambia where possible
• Clear connections between insurance principles and broader legal doctrines
• Visual clarity using colours, icons, diagrams, and clear labels
• Evidence of critical thinking, not just summaries or textbook notes
Format and Submission:
Use a digital canvas sized approximately 12 x 16 inches (standard manila paper) or A3 size
(29.7 cm x 42 cm)
Submit as a PDF or high-quality image file (JPEG/PNG)
All text and visuals must be clear and readable
Submit your soft copy on Moodle
Additional Notes:
This is not a summary assignment—focus on analysis and structure
Include real or hypothetical examples, case names, and legal principles
You may hand-draw and scan your mind map, but digital creation is recommended
Use any tool of your choice (e.g. Canva, PowerPoint, XMind, hand-drawn and scanned)
