Work must be done individually. You may not work in
teams.
Optional. If you do not do this assignment, I will use your
highest exam grade in place of the grade on this assignment.
Purpose:
This project requires that you use Excel to calculate statistics
related to the S&P500 index and 1 index fund and another ETF
or stock. You will also use Excel to build a chart that displays
the relationship between the assets. Importantly, your write-up
will demonstrate your understanding of each of the statistics.
NOTE: The table and chart are included here to show you how I
expect to see the table and chart in your summary.

Instructions:
1. Open the template and follow the
video to do all of the work in Excel.
a. For your index ETF, use VOO, or
SPY. (I may have said to use iVV in
the video, but do not use IVV.)
b. For your second asset, you may
choose any ETF or stock except XLF which I have
used in the demo.
2. Write a summary of
your findings.
a. Include the charts and
tables from Excel as
demonstrated here.
b. Be sure to USE YOUR
OWN WORDS to
demonstrate that you
understand and can interpret the data that you have
calculated.
c. There is no page requirement, but expect that you will
be able to meet the requirements within about 2 pages
including the tables and graphs in a size similar to
those shown here.
d. I will be running all papers through plagiarism and AI
detectors. Do your own work. If you are caught
engaging in academic dishonesty, you will fail the
course.
