Class difference

Class difference a harsh concept portraying the cruel, evil, wicked and
heinous image of human society. The concept that has broken the millions of
dreams of not only boys but elders too. If we look into history, its roots are found
almost in every corner of the world. In India the Hindus were divided into four
castes, the Brahmins (priests, intellectuals), the Kshatriyas (warriors, leaders), the
Vaishyas (merchants, traders), and the Sudras (manual laborers). The Sudras were
always neglected, not accepted by the people belonging to upper castes. They were
given low scale jobs as sweeper or peon. They were not allowed to eat with or drink
the water from the other castes’ people or in their homes. Today this system is also
observed in some areas. The tradition still exists and is somehow transformed to
other beliefs’ people too.
In Pakistan the class difference is also observed between the rich and the poor.
Thomas Piketty, in his book Capital in the Twenty-First Century, tells us that “The
difference between the rich and the poor has increased beyond anyone’s
imagination.” It has broken thousands of dreams. Not only in the rich and the poor
but it is also observed in the Family, when it comes to relations among the same
family, they refuse to give their daughter to a child who belongs to class lower than
that of them. So, it not only impacts relations but also causes personal grudges that
lead toward enmity, hostility and vendettas. Most importantly it leads toward
psychological trauma. I remembered an anecdote my friend once told me apropos
this class difference issue, he told me that “He loved his one of the cousins, but her
family was so rich, and he proposed her. The proposal was rejected due to class
difference.” He took psychologically ill, he didn’t eat for almost four days. He was
admitted into hospital and she married someone else, out of caste but was rich
enough to meet her class standards. Notwithstanding, he still loves and misses her,
he is all head and heart attached to her.
This is just a single scenario, there are hundreds of others. Millions of people have
been victims of this cruel crime, a few in love, others at job or even at work or
giving the respect they deserve.
In a nutshell, class difference is a big topic with several repercussions on society, it
not only affects one’s life but also leads him toward the world of crimes that not
only affect him or his family but also to society and then nation.
