ANNOTATION IN OBJECTIVE 1
The lesson on “Different Places in the Community” effectively integrates content knowledge in
Literacy by teaching learners to identify and name familiar community places, while also highlighting
roles and responsibilities of community helpers in Social Studies. Through guided questioning (e.g.,
“Who works here? What do they do to help people?”), learners develop comprehension and vocabulary
skills as they connect words to real-life functions.
Furthermore, it allows for interdisciplinary connections:
- In Values Education (Makabansa/GMRC), learners are taught respect and appreciation for people
who serve the community (teachers, doctors, policemen, firefighters), promoting responsibility and care
for surroundings.
- In Arts, learners engage in creative tasks such as cutting, pasting, and assembling puzzles or
matching activities that strengthen fine motor skills alongside concept understanding.
- In Language, oral questioning builds communication skills as learners describe community places and
the work done there.
By using visual aids, songs, and interactive activities as pedagogical strategies, the teacher applies
content knowledge not only in the subject of Literacy but also across disciplines. This fosters a holistic
and meaningful learning experience where learners see the connection between their classroom
lessons and real-life community life — fully aligned with the MATATAG Curriculum.
