Independence Day Celebrations: Pratap Public School

The school, on the 15th of August, 2020, celebrated the 74th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor,
while strictly following the social distancing norms and the mandatory precautions.
The ceremonies of the day started with the Director Principal Mrs. Poonam Navet unfurling the National Flag with the school
staff joining in saluting the Tricolor as the air reverberated with the National Anthem.
This was followed by the mellifluous renditions of patriotic songs by the music faculties of the school reaffirming the resolve
to serve the country till the very end.
In her message to the school the Director Principal’s speech, this year, talked about the great sacrifices of the freedom
fighters both celebrated and unsung. She, very emphatically, sent across the message to the students that they need to rise
against the dark challenge of CoVid19 pandemic and fight it. This, she said, was the need of the hour; so as to build a
stronger, more resilient India. She assured the students that these, difficult and stifling times, too shall come to pass, just as
after every dark night there is a bright day that follows. She then went on to congratulate the students on the exemplary
performance in the board exams. She appreciated the efforts of the students who participated in the various activities during
the past four months, saying that their creative endeavors were like sabers shredding the gloom of the pandemic.
With this emphatic message from the Director Principal, all present rose to the National Anthem and the day’s celebrations
concluded.
Annual Day Celebrations

The 20th of August, 2020 was a red letter day in the calendar of AVP School, Sahibabad, UP. It was on this day that the school
celebrated its “Annual Day”. The grand celebrations were presided over by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Sh. Yogi
Aditaynath, who also gave away the awards to the meritorious students. The evening also saw teachers and parents enjoying
the various cultural programs presented by the students.
The celebration for the evening started with the welcome of the chief guest by the principal and the teachers at sharp 4:00
p.m. After the “Lamp Ceremony” the first of the many cultural programs “the Saraswati Vandana” was performed by the
students on a bedecked stage. The Principal, then, in her address to the students and patrons, talked about the achievements
of the school and students. She invited the Chief Guest next to give away the prizes to the students who had done
exceptionally well in the curricular and co-curricular fields. The Chief Guest in his address to the students and teachers praised
them for their excellent efforts and emphasized the need the need for schools to be a cradle of innovation and stressed on
role of schools in nation building. After the Chief Guests address, various other cultural programs including skits and dance-
dramas enthralled the audiences and won their praise. The Head Bot then accorded a formal Vote of Thanks to the dignitaries
and patrons and the evening culminated with refreshments for all.

accident involving a truck and a bus, near Kurukshetra. File your report.
Kurukshetra, 15 Jul.: Over speeding claimed yet another life! Early evening, on 14th July, an over speeding bus
and a truck were involved in a horrific accident near Kurukshetra on the NH1, resulting in the death of the truck
driver, three injured, one of them severely.
The Chandigarh Roadways bus was travelling from Ambala to Panipat, at speeds in excess of the speed limit of
90 kmph, when it over took a truck cutting across its lane. The truck driver braked to avoid collision and skidded
out of control. The truck driver, later found to be drunk, swerved a couple of times on the road, went over the
median and into the ditch beyond, smashing into a tree, pinning the driver between the truck and the tree,
crushing him to death instantaneously and injuring the helper seriously. The two laborers survived with minor
injuries were in the cargo bay of the truck. Locals were the first to respond and rushed to the spot to rescue the
survivors. According to the eyewitnesses it was the bus driver who was to be blamed for the mishap, and
informed that he was over speeding. The truck driver consequently lost his life and the helper’s leg had to be
amputated for extraction. He was rushed to the local civil hospital where his condition is reported as critical. The
next of kin of the driver and the helper had been informed by the police.
Proper speed checks need to be in place, backed by strict enforcement through provisions for punitive
punishment for over speeders. It is only then some reduction in such incidences can be brought about.
