about these questions.
1 What do we mean when we talk
about the human anatomy?
2 What are some of the organs ^
of the body?
cardiovascular system
The human body is best described as arf
efficient machinę that relies on a number of
sophisticated system s to function. The
respiratory system absorbs oxygen. The
skeletal-muscular system cardiovascular system distributes the
oxygen enriched blood throughout the body.
Food that can be digested is converted into
energy by the digestive system and food
that cannot be used is disposed ot.
The body relies on the skeletal-m uscular
system for movement, shape and to protect
the organs. It is made up of muscles, joints,
and about 200 bones, which are connected
to each other by tendons and ligaments. The
body has a special covering called skin. The
average adult body has eight pounds of skin
that has an area of 20 square feet. The study
of the structure of this “ m achinę” is called
anatomy.
