Extra MATH QUESTIONS!: VERY VERY EASY.
Feng spends 3/5 of his wages on rent. He saves 1/4 of the remaining money and shares the rest
between his mother and his brother in the ratio 3:2.
Feng earns $1,200 each month. How much does he give his brother in one year?
Answer:
rent=
Rent = 3/5 × 1,200=720
Remaining = 1,200 − 720=480
Savings=
Savings = 1/4 × 480=120
Remaining to share = 480−120=360
mother and brother (3:2)=
Total parts = 3 + 2=5
Brother’s share = 2/5 × 360=144 per month.
Calculate amount for brother=
144×12=1,728$ in ONE YEAR (I think)…
2. A call centre receives 375 calls. This table shows how long a caller must wait before speaking
to a customer service officer.
Time(frequency): less than 1 minute ( 48)
less than 2 minutes (117)
less than 3 minutes (219)
less than 4 minutes (327)
less than 5 minutes (375)
Work out the experimental probability that a caller will wait:
a. atleast 3 minutes.
answer:
(375 – 219) / 375 = 0.416 x 100 = 41.6%
