INTRODUCTION
Mall management is defined as an overall operation and
maintenance of the entire building infrastructure, including
the services andutilities, ensuring that they are used in a way
that are consistent with the purpose for which it was
acquired.
Mall management encompasse operations, facilities
management, security, accounts, common area
maintenance, marketing, leasing and all the other functions
even remotely related to a mall.
Shopping Mall Management System
Shopping Mall Management system is software that is widely
used by retailers, shopkeepers, manufacturing units, and
other merchants across different businesses.
• Which products are available in Shopping Mall or when
to reorder a particular product?
• Which product sales have been high or which products
had low sales?
The answer is simple- They use an automated system that
helps them in managing their Shopping Malls. Shopping Mall
Management system helps a retailer or shopkeeper in
minimizing their Shopping Malls in accordance with the sales.
How this system Works So now let me tell you how the
system works. We will understand this with an example of a
retailer.

OBJECTIVES
The objective of my project is to make Shopping Mall
Management System simple, reliable, user friendly, and
corrective. Moreover less time consuming as compared to
manual work.
The basic idea is to reduce time in different hotel related
tasks like Registration of a new customer, Enquiry about a
particular thing, Fund status modification of system as well as
customers, Funds Approval and different Report generations.
This will lead to increase in the efficiency of the staff
members of the Shopping Mall Management System with
little throughput.
This project is made as user friendly as possible so that any
one can use it with little knowledge of computers. The
project will reduce the tedious job of paperwork by keeping
all the details of customers stored in the form database in
computer's hard disk. Up-to-date information of the room
status and other enquires Can be provided to the customers
within minutes.
The objectives of positioning a mall/product are:
1. To create sense of recognition
2. To promote loyalty
3. To enhance image
4. To enhance goodwill
5. To improve image of quality

5|Page
6. To beat competitors
7. To attract customers
❖ OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
1) Capability:
a) Improved Processing speed:
The main objective of the project is to enhance the
processing speed Any organizations seek for development of
project due to its processing speed.
b) Increased volume:
The general system of Bank management provides to process
a large amount of Information. Since all data are stored in
main memory, so volume of data may be enhanced.
c) Faster retrieval of information:
The word retrieval means to retrieve information from
storage. This retrieval must be very fast. Complex searching is
required in order to retrieve information from storage area.
2) Control:
a) Greater accuracy and consistency:
Java is object-oriented language which Support math
coprocessor so it Become easy to carry out computing steps
like arithmetic Calculation accurately and consistently.
b) Better security:

Better security means to protect sensitive data from being

accessed by unauthorized person. Sensitive data must be

6|Page
protected from getting leaked therefore security is of utmost
importance.
3) Graphics User Interface:
a) Enhanced communication:
Java is window based programming language Graphic
capabilities provided by java and oracle provides a large
amount of benefit.
4) Cost:
a) Monitor cost:
General system of Bank Management is a completely
paperless S/W, so need of extra paperwork to retrieve
information from database, here no
b) Reduce-cost:
Computing capability provide help to process data at lower
cost than any other method of processing.
There is main 4 modules in the Shopping Mall Management
system. They are:
Product Management
Purchase Management
Sales Management
User Management
Before discussing these modules in detail, I would like to tell
you that Shopping Mall Management System can have a vast
number of functionalities. Each organization has a different
set of requirements.

7|Page
Product Management
This module is used to manage the items being Shopping
Mall in a warehouse or in the mart.
Add Product:
This sub-module is used for adding new products to the
[Link] will require some basic details like Product
Category, Product Name, cost price, selling price, its quantity.
List Product:
This sub-module lists all the items present in the database of
the Shopping Mall Management System. It will have options
to edit the details of each item or delete a particular item
from the list.
Print Bar Code:
Another feature that is widely used these days by the
merchants
in their Shopping Mall management is generating a bar code
and printing its copies so that it can be pasted on the items.
Purchase Management:
This module is used to manage all purchases done by the
[Link] helps the retailer in maintaining the records of all
its purchases from different suppliers.
Add Order:
It is used by the manager to add orders into the system. It
requires details like items ordered and their quantities, date
of order, suppliers' details, total cost.

8|Page
List Orders:
This feature is used to display all the orders made by the
merchant. It displays all the details like date of order,
supplier details, payment status, order status.
Expenditures:
This interface will show the expenditures of the company
from ordering different items.
Sales Management:
Sell Items:
This option is available to the salespersons who are at the
point of sale. Point of sale is the place where billing and other
transactions are done.
List Sales:
This option, as the name suggests shows all the sales made
by the retailer. It shows details like date, time, total bill,
payment status, view bill.
Home Deliveries:
This option will vary from company to company and we can
say that it will only be used by those retailers which have the
option of home delivery.
Return of Items:
Now there might be situations when a customer has to
return items bought from the store. For these situations, only
the system provides an interface to return items.
User Management:

9|Page
Before discussing the sub-modules of this Module let me tell
you the users of the Shopping Mall Management System. It is
required here to understand the functionalities of this
module.
Add Users:
This option is used by the admin to add new users to the
[Link] will ask for all the details of the user like his/her
name, email id, phone number, gender.
List Users:
This option will show the admin all the users using the
system. This will show all the basic details of the user with its
date of creation and last login time.
Add Suppliers:
This option will help the company keep a record of suppliers
by adding their details to the system. The admin will have to
enter details like Name, Address, contact number, and email
Id.
List Suppliers:
It will list all the suppliers whose record is available in the
database of the Shopping Mall Management System. It will
also have an option to view all the dealings with that
particular supplier.
Users of Shopping Mall Management System

10 | P a g e
Admin:
Admin is basically the master controller of the Shopping Mall
Management System. He has the right to manage all the
modules of the system.
Manager:
This user will have limited access. There can be any type of
manager in a big organization like sales manager, product
manager. So, each manager will have its own set of rights.
Sales Staff:
These are the staff who will do the billing at the point of
sales.
Purchasing Staff:
This type of user will only have access to the Purchase
management module of the Shopping Mall management
system.

PROJECT CATEGORY

The Project is developed using Relational Management

System (RDBMS).

A database system is essentially a sophisticated,

computerized record keeping system, a repository for a
collection of computerized data files. A database system
maintains information and makes that information available
on demand, for this purpose a database system provides set
of facilities to perform such operations.

The benefits of a database system over any traditional

system are obvious as database is integrated as well as
shared, thus a database eliminates redundancy and also as a
consequence, database lets multiple users access the same
piece of data.

The most important advantage of the database is to

maintain the integrity i.e. it insures that the change made to
the database by authorized users do not result in a loss of
data consistency and guard against accidental damage to the
database.

ABOUT JAVA
Java is high level, third generation, powerful, secured, and
portable and most popular front-end language Java is a
programming language originally developed by James Gosling
at Sun Microsystems (which is now a subsidiary of oracle
corporation) and released in 1995 as a core component of
Sun Microsystems Java Platform. The language derives much
of its syntax from C and C++ but has a simpler object mode
and fever low-level facilities Java application are typically
complied to byte code (class file) that can run on any Java
Virtual Machine(JVM).
Features of java:-
➢ Platform Independent
➢ Object Oriented :

❖ Inheritance.
❖ Encapsulation
❖ Polymorphism
❖ Dynamic binding
➢ Robust
➢ Distributed
➢ Portable
➢ Dynamic
➢ Secure
➢ Performance
➢ Multithreaded

ABOUT MYSQL

MySQL, the most popular Open Source SQL database management

system, is developed, distributed, and supported by Oracle
Corporation.
MySQL is a database management system.
A database is a structured collection of data. It may be anything from
a simple shopping list to a picture gallery or the vast amounts of
information in a corporate network. To add, access, and process data
stored in a computer database, you need a database management
system such as MySQL Server.
MySQL databases are relational.
A relational database stores data in separate tables rather than
putting all the data in one big storeroom. The database structures
are organized into physical files optimized for speed.
The SQL part of "MY SQL" stands for "Structured Query Language",
SQL is the most common standardized language used to access
databases. Depending on your programming environment, you might
enter SQL directly (for example, to generate reports), embed SQL
statements into code written in another language, or use a language-
specific API that hides the SQL syntax.
MySQL 8.0 highlights include:
➢ MySQL Document Store
➢ Transactional Data

SHOPPING MALL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
DFD
DFD is the abbreviation for Data Flow Diagram. The flow of
data of a system or a process is represented by DFD. It also gives
insight into the inputs and outputs of each entity and the process
itself. Data Flow Diagram can be represented in several ways. The
Data Flow Diagram has 4 components:
Process:
Input to output transformation in a system takes place because of
process function. The symbols of a process are rectangular with
rounded corners, oval, rectangle or a circle.
Notation :

• A rounded rectangle represents a process

• Processes are given IDs for easy referencing

PROCESS EXAMPLE :

Data Flow:
Data flow describes the information transferring between different
parts of the systems. The arrow symbol is the symbol of data flow.

18 | P a g e
Example:
Customer_info (LastName, FirstName, SS#, Tel #, etc.)
Order_info (Orderld, Item#, OrderDate, CustomerID, etc.).
Data flow Example:

Warehouse :
The data is stored in the warehouse for later use. Two horizontal
lines represent the symbol of the store. The warehouse is simply not
restricted to being a data file rather it can be anything like a folder
with documents, an optical disc, a filing cabinet.
Terminator:
The Terminator is an external entity that stands outside of the
system and communicates with the system. It can be, for example,
organizations like banks, groups of people like customers or different
departments of the same organization, which is not a part of the
model system and is an external entity.

19 | P a g e
Rules For Creating DFD:
❖ The name of the entity should be easy and understandable
without any extra assistance.

❖ The processes should be numbered or put in ordered list to

be referred easily.
❖ The DFD should maintain consistency across all the DFD levels.
❖ A single DFD can have a maximum of nine processes and a
minimum of three processes.
Levels of DFD:
DFD uses hierarchy to maintain transparency thus multilevel DFD's
can be created. Levels of DFD are as follows:
➢ 0-level DFD
➢ 1-levelDFD
➢ 2-level DFD

20 | P a g e
Advantages of DFD

• It helps us to understand the functioning and the limits of a

system.
• It is a graphical representation which is very easy to understand
as it helps visualize contents.
• Data Flow Diagram represent detailed and well explained
diagram of system components.
Disadvantages of DFD

• At times DFD can confuse the programmers regarding the

system.
• Data Flow Diagram takes long time to be generated, and many
times due to this reasons analysts are denied permission to
work on it.

▪ Class diagram
Class diagram is a static diagram. It represents the static view of an
application. Class diagram is not only used for visualizing. describing,
and documenting different aspects of a system but also for
constructing executable code of the software application.
Class diagram describes the attributes and operations of a class and
also the constraints imposed on the system.
How to Draw a Class Diagram?
The following points should be remembered while drawing a class
diagram -
The name of the class diagram should be meaningful to describe the
aspect of the system.
Each element and their relationships should be identified in advance.
Responsibility (attributes and methods) of each class should be
clearly identified
For each class, minimum number of properties should be specified,
as unnecessary properties will make the diagram complicated.
