2 SAFETY LINK CHECK

2.1 Ensure ALL THE SAFETY SWITCHES are mechanically CLOSED.

Check (see Wiring Diagram shown at next pages):

In the Hoistway:
8LS - UP FINAL LIMIT SWITCH
PES - PIT EMERGENCY STOP SWITCH
DS - LANDING DOOR SWITCH
RDS - REAR LANDING DOOR SWITCH (if provided)

On Car:
SCS - SLACK ROPE AND SFETY DEVICE SWITCH
TES - TOP OF CAR EMERGENCY STOP SWITCH
RTES - Rear Door TES SWITCH (if provided)
GS - CAR DOOR CONTACT
RGS - REAR CAR DOOR CONTACT (if provided)
EEC - EMERGENCY EXIT ON TOP OF CAR (if provided)

In the machine Room:

PLS2 - LOW PRESSURE LIMIT SWITCH (if provided)

2.2 The following sequence has to be repeated for each safety switch of the above list:

a) Position the car in order to manually easily operate the safety switch

b) SWITCH OFF THE MAIN POWER !

c) Connect in the COP the INS1 connector and 2C connector in the technical panel

d) LCB II board - Connect in the controller the connector 1T in 2T: by doing that the movement of the
unit in Construction Mode” is REMOVED, and the Wiring Diagram of the unit is the correct one
provided with the Controller
HCB board - Remove the "Construction tool" A and plug all connectors

e) Ensure the TCI switch is on NORMAL

Ensure the ERO switch is on NORMAL (if provided)

f) By using a Bell-Battery Device check that ALL THE SAFETY LINK IS CORRECTLY CONNECTED
as follows:

- Connect the two terminals of the Bell-Battery Device to the studs 2C/1 - 2C/5 in the Controller: the
bell should ring because all the safety switches are closed;

- Open the particular safety switch and ensure the bell stops to ring: it means the safety switch is
correctly functionning and connected to the safety link

If the bell does not stop to ring, it means that particular contact is not connect in the safety link;
therefore proceed to correct the safety link circuitery

- Repeat the same operation FOR NEXT safety switch starting from step a); if you need to move the
car to operate manually the next switch, set the wiring for “Construction Mode”

PROCEED WITH THE NEXT STEP ONLY IF THE STEP 2.2 HAS BEEN COMPLETED

3.11 In inspection mode, check the correct movement of the unit in up and down direction, by using
the ERO box (if provided) or the TCI box.

If the unit doesn’t move correctly, check the wiring of the ERO and TCI inspection box (see Wiring
Diagram)

If the unit moves correctly by using the ERO box, but doesn’t move correctly by using the TCI
buttons, check the status of the two bistable switches 1LS and 2LS (mounted on the positioning
system probe) and their magnets positioned at the two extreme floors as follows:

- Check the correct position of the above mentionned magnets at the top and bottom floor (see
Subsystem 5 Construction Manual)

- If the unit doesn’t move in up direction, pass the magnet NORTH pole (grooved side) in front of the
2LS bistable

- If the unit doesn’t move in down direction, pass the magnet NORTH pole (grooved side) in front of
the 1LS bistable

If the unit should not yet move in UP od DOWN direction, check the 2LS or 1LS circuitery (see Wirng
Diagram) and, if necessary, check the correct wiring and address of the Remote Station ADDRESS
16 inside the COP.

3.12 Check of Door Motor rotating direction

- Position the car at bottom floor level.

- Check the rotating direction of the Door Motor:

- Manually operate the “DO” relay for few seconds (2-3 sec.) and verify that the doors open.

- Manually operate the “DC” relay for few seconds (2-3 sec.) and verify that the doors open.

Proceed with the same check to the Rear Door Motor if double access

If rotating direction IS NOT correct proceed as follows:

- !!!!! SWITCH OFF THE MAIN POWER !!!!!!

- In the Controller reverse between them two of the three phases of the power supply to the Door
Motor on the Travelling Cable 3C as follows: 3C1 - 3C2 - 3C4.

If the Door Motor doesn’t move in any direction check the fuses:

- F1L (0.63 A), F2L (0.63 A), F3L (0.63 A)

- F4L (0.63 A), F5L (0.63 A), F6L (0.63 A) if double access

- Check the wiring of the Door Motor (see Wiring Diagram)

3.12 Check of 8LS switch (Over-run safety Switch)

UNIT with ERO button box:

- On ERO box postion the switch on ERO

- On TCI box position the switch on NORMAL

- Ensure the car and landing doors are correctly closed

- On the Controller board the led ES is OFF, the leds DW and DFC are ON.

- By using the ERO box move the unit in up direction until the plunger has reached the top and stops
on the cylinder collar, that can be verified by looking at the increasing pressure value on the block
valve gauge

- On ERO box postion the switch on NORMAL:

> if the 8LS has been correctly operated (opened) by the cam mounted on the yoke cross beam,
the leds ES goes ON and DW and DFC go OFF

> If the 8LS has not been operated the leds ES rermains OFF and the leds DW, DFC remain ON

WARNING: As the unit in this condition is in NORMAL operation, if the 8LS switch has not been
opened, the unit could re-level to the top floor

- By using the Emergency Red Button on the block valve move the unit in down direction and check
the leds ES, DW and DFC: when the 8LS switch close, the led ES goes OFF and DW and DFC go
ON

UNIT without ERO button box:

- By using the TCI box, position the car with the car roof at top floor level. Leave the TCI switch in
INSPECTION, come out of the hoistway and ensure the landing doors and car doors are correctly
closed.

- On the Controller board the led ES is OFF, the leds DW and DFC are ON.

- By using the Hand-Pump lever move the unit in up direction and check the leds ES, DW and DFC;
when the 8LS switch is operated by the cam mounted on the yoke cross beam, the leds ES goes ON
DW and DFC go OFF

- If the led ES doesn’t light UP and the leds DW, DFC don’t light OFF, it means that the 8LS has not
been activated (opened) by the cam or it is not correctly connected to the hoistway loom.

- By using the Emergency Red Button on the block valve move the unit in down direction and check
the leds ES, DW and DFC; when the 8LS switch close, the led ES goes OFF and DW and DFC go
ON

3.13 Check 6LS switch (up final limit switch for inspection mode, if provided) :

- By using the TCI box move the unit in up direction and chek that the unit stops when 6LS contact is
operated by the cam mounted on the guide rails (see Subsystem 5 Construction Manuals)

3.14 Position the car at bottom floor level and check on the controller board the led LV is ON

4 INSTALLATION PARAMETERS CHECK

The Software of the MCS 120 Controller need specific datas concerning the single unit to manage
correctly its functionning.
On the Controller board are fitted to memories:

EPROM = Where is memorized the program (software) for the unit functionning, and this eprom is
characterized by the number of the software version contained (i.e. GAA30082AAE). It is
not possible to enter in this memory

EEPROM = Where are memorized all the specific datas for the single unit and it is possible to enter
in this memory by using the Service Tool, for modifying and memorize new datas (it is
like a floppy for PCs)

These datas contained in the EEPROM are divided in two groups: "Installation Parameters" and
"Standard I/O List" for the Remote serial link.

The "Installation Parameters" are all datas referring to the characteristics of the unit: number of stops,
type of block valve, speed, enabling of optional devices, etc.

The "I/O List" defines for all the devices connected to the Remote serial Link, the address of the
Remote Station (and the plug) to which the single device is connected.

All these datas (Installation Parameters and Input/Output Addresses) referred to each specific unit,
are already memorized in the EEPROM during the manufacturing and testing of the Controller.

The list of all these specific datas is delivered for each unit and it is placed inside the Controller.

In Addition, in the Field Component Manual are listed all the Installation Parameters and the Standard
I/O List numbers for Otis 2000

IMPORTANT: The I/O List for all Otis 2000 units is STANDARD. It means that each feature or
device connected to a Remote Station HAS ALWAYS THE SAME I/O ADDRESS:
for istance, on all Otis 2000, the Light Ray Device is always connected to the plug
3 of the Remote Station with address 17; thus, for all Otis 2000, the Address for
the device LRD is always 17/3.

Nevertheless it could be necessary, on site, to check some of these parameters; the interface for the
software is the Service Tool.

To check the parameters follows this procedure:

4.1 Plug the Service Tool connector to the P3 connector of the controller board.

4.2 The Software runs automatically an internal selftest and on display appears:

SELF TEST
OK-MECS-MODE

The organization of the datas is represented by the following "tree structure":

October 2001

4.5 As shown above, all the "Installation Parameters" are contained in the SETUP - MENU and they
are divided in the following groups:

Group INSTALL:

1 System (Main datas of the whole unit)

2 OCSS (Operation control datas)
3 Group (Datas for duplex/triplex functionning)
4 Drive (Datas for the drive functionning)
5 Doors (Datas for door functionning)
6 Position Ref. (Datas for the car positioning signals)
7 Cargo (Datas for the model "Cargo")
8 Emergency (Datas for Emergency operations)
9 Security (Datas for the Reserved operations)
10 Test (Datas to perform special tests)

Group ALLOWED:

1 Enable (Datas to enable the car and hall calls)

2 Cut Call (Datas to disable calls in case of CHCS)
3 Card Reader (Datas to enable the use of magnetic badge to call the unit)

Group POS: Datas to programme the digits to be shown on the Car/Hall Position Display

4.4 To enter in the group INSTALL, press in sequence the buttons:

EMERGENCY - “ “ “ “ M-1-3-1-8
SECURITY - “ “ “ “ M-1-3-1-9
TEST - “ “ “ “ M-1-3-1-GOON.....(several times until... Test).- ENTER

To check the parameters contained in the group INSTALL and eventualyy to modify some values,
follows this procedure:

- Enter in the desired family (System, Drive, etc.) as explained before

- On the bottom line of the display appears the first parameter of this family; by pressing GOON you
move through the parameters; for each parameter appears the Number, the Name, and the current
value; for example:

00# System new

LR-T = 045 > 000

In this example we are in group System at parameter No.#, named LR-T and its current value is 45.

- Referring to the Installation Parameter list of the Contract (found inside the Controller), check the
correct value of the parameter; if necessary proceed to correct the value as follows:

for example we have to change the value of LR-T to 120; by pressing 1-2-0 below ‘new’ appears 120
(if we have to correct a digit by pressing CLEAR the last digit is cancelled):

00# System new Now, by pressing BLU-ENTER, the new value will be memorized.
LR-T = 045 > 120

WARNING: The software can memorize new values only when the car is NOT moving!

4.5 Enter in the group ALLOWED (to enable calls) and by SVT input:

4.5a Enable - press in sequence the buttons: M-1-3-3-1-GOON. On the display appears:

at CUDE CUDE P R
00 1100 0000 0 0

where: at = floor level

CUDE = calls enabled at that floor: 0 = call DISABLED
1 = call ENABLED
C = Car call
U = Up Hall call
D = Down Hall call
E = Emergency Hospital call

(first CUDE is for Front Door and second CUDE is for Rear Door)

P = parking: 0 = NOT allowed

1 = allowed

R = reduced landing. There is a ‘reduced landing’ when the distance between two floors
has length:

500 mm ÷ 1300 mm for SOLENOID valve at 0.25 - 0.63 m/s

500 mm ÷ 1650 mm for CONTROLLED SOL. valve at 0.63 m/s
500 mm ÷ 2100 mm for CONTROLLED SOL. valve at 1.00 m/s

For example on this unit there is a "reduced landing"

between floors 2 and 3; when the car perform a one-stop
run between the two floors with reduced landing (in our
example the car starts from floor 2 and stops at floor 3, or
viceversa in down direction), the car move ALWAYS in
LOW SPEED

WARNING: In this case it is necessary to check the value

of parameter 3P (family DRIVE), that means the
maximum run time in low speed: this time has to be
sufficient to perform the complete one-stop run between
the two floors with reduced distance.

In the "Reduced Landing" you have also to define the impulse

switches used to count the floors:

- Short profile (R = 1): The unit counts the florrs by using the door zone impulse switches 1LV and
2LV

- Medium profile (R = 4): The unit counts the floors by using (as normally) the IPU (for up direction)
and IPD (for down direction)

In order to know which profile (and which impulse switch) has to be used, it is necessary to measure
the slowdown distance between the switches:

- distance between IPU and DIS switch (Slowdown distance in Up direction, intermediate floors)
- distance between IPD and UIS switch (Slowdown distance in Down direction, intermediate floors)
- distance between 2LS and DIS switch (Slowdown distance in Up direction, top floor)
- distance between 1LS and UIS switch (Slowdown distance in Down direction, bottom floor)

If the distance between the floors is less than (or equal) the maximum slowdown distance, has to be
setted R = 1 (Short Profile)

If the distance between the floors is greater than the maximum slowdown distance, has to be setted
R = 4 (Medium Profile)

The value of R parameter will be: 0 = NORMAL landing

1 = REDUCED landing with velocity SHORT profile
4 = REDUCED landing with velocity MEDIUM profile

In our example unit, supposing we want allow parking at floor 0 and there is an Emergency Hospital
Switch at floors 0 and 5, will be:

4.7 Optional Switches I/O List check

The I/O List has already been memorized in the EEPROM; this I/O List is standard, that means that it
is the same for all Otis 2000. Nevertheless there is an exception: when the unit is not provided of
some special devices and as consequence the Remote Serial Link is missing of some contacts, it is
necessary to give a 'false' address to this missing contact instead the real one. Anyway, also these
'false' addresses are already memorized in the EEPROM and NO I/O LIST MODIFICATION HAVE
TO BE DONE ON SITE.

IMPORTANT: All the information concerning the I/O List adrresses modification due to the above
explained exception are reported in the information paper delivered inside the Controller cabinet.

Anyway, for checking the Address (AD) and (P) for the devices connected to the serial link, press in
sequence: M-1-3-2-GOON.

On Service Tool display appears:

IO I AD P AD P
0065 = 0 27 1 >

where: IO = IO number of the device (see also I/O List of the Field Component Manual)

I = Invert bit (set automatically by software)

AD = Address of RS to which the device is connected

P = RS plug to which the device is connected

In our example, the device with IO number 65 has address 27 and plug 1. As listed in the Standard
I/O List contained in the "MCS-LCB_II" Field Component Manual, the device with IO number 65 need
to be addressed: AD = 22, P = 2.
Press the buttons to input the new value that appears on the display:

IO I AD P AD P

7 UNIT PERFORMANCE AND COMFORT CHECK

7.1 STOPPING ACCURACY ADJUSTMENT

The stopping accuracy depends from the position of the 2 magnets fitted on the landing door or to the
guide rails.

The correct position of the magnets is specified in the Subsystem 5 Construction Manual.

If it should be necessary to adjust ‘a little’ the stopping accuracy, move the magnets as follows:

WARNING: The two magnets shuold be at the same height from the floor level (sill level);
nevertheless, for the stopping accuracy they can be shifted at maximum 1.5 cm

- To adjust the stopping accuracy in approaching the floor in UP direction, move the right magnet
(right side looking at the magnets in the hoistway)

- To adjust the stopping accuracy in approaching the floor in DOWN direction, move the left magnet
(left side looking at the magnets in the hoistway)

WARNING: At the two extreme floors adjust the stopping accuracy in approaching the floor in UP and
DOWN direction for the re-levelling operation

7.2 FLOOR LEVEL APPROACHING OPERATION ADJUSTMENT

As shown in the section 6 above, you have alredy adjusted:

- The value of low speed (equal to 10-15% of the nominal speed)

- Only for Solenoid valve, the transition (deceleration) from full speed to low speed

Now adjust the travel lenght performed at low speed in approaching the floor by using the Service
Tool and following this procedure:

WARNING: The operations described below must be performed at oil temperature of 30°-35° C.

a. Plug in the Service Tool connector in the P3 connector of the LCBII board

b. By pressing in sequence the buttons M-1-3-1-6-BLU-ENTER go to group POSITION REF. of the

Install - Menu.

c. By pressing the GOON button move through the parameters and adjust the values of IPU-D, IPD-
D, 1LS-D, 2LS-D and T-BASE as follows:

- The possible value for the parameters IPU-D, IPD-D, 1LS-D, 2LS-D is from 0 to 255; this number is
the delay from when the impulse switch is activated by the magnet up to the deceleration phase
starts.

- The “time value” of the number gived to the parameter depend from T-BASE:

If T-BASE = 0 each digit represent a delay of 0.1 sec. (i.e., with T-BASE=0, if you set a
delay IPU-D = 60 means 6 seconds delay)

If T-BASE = 1 each digit represent a delay of 0.004 sec. (i.e., with T-BASE=1, if you set a
delay IPU-D = 60 means a 0,24 seconds delay)
C.R.C. Otis 2000 H - Cernusco Part: 7

OTIS Otis 2000 H Start Up Routine

Page:
Date:
7-2
October 2001

As delay the start of deceleration phase means increase the travel at full speed and consequently
reduce the the travel at low speed, this reduction depends from T-BASE and from the nominal speed
of the unit. Proceed as follows

For Intermediate Floors:

IPU-D: by increasing the value, the distance performed in approaching the floor in UP
direction at low speed decrease.

IPD-D: by increasing the value, the distance performed in approaching the floor in DOWN
direction at low speed decrease.

For the Top and Bottom Floor:

2LS-D: by increasing the value, the distance performed in approaching the TOP floor in UP
direction at low speed decrease.

1LS-D: by increasing the value, the distance performed in approaching the BOTTOM floor in
DOWN direction at low speed decrease.

7.3 DOORS COMFORT CHECK

Check the correct functionning of all the landing doors: smooth opening and NO noise; check the
functionning of the car door and its mechanical “coupling” with the landing doors.

If necessary, fine tunes the landing and car doors as per the instructions of Subsyetem 10 and 11
Construction Manuals

7.4 HALL AND CAR CALLS CHECK

By pressing the hall buttons and car buttons, ensure the correct functionning of the hall and car calls.
If a call should not operate correctly:

- By using the Service Tool, check the enabling for that call in the parameters of the group ENABLE of
Allowed - Menu

- Check the Push Button functionning and wiring

- Check the Remote Station ADDRESS and its wiring

7.5 HALL AND CAR INDICATORS

If the Hall Position Indicator or the Car Position Indicator does not operate correctly:

- By using the Service Tool check the parameters in the group POS of the SETUP - Menu

- The Display correct wiring and the correspondig Remote Station ADDRESS and wiring

IMPORTANT: If a plug is found not connected and it is connected on site during this Indicator
check, for the correct functionning of the Indicator Display is necessary to RESET
the Controller board (switch OFF - switch ON the main Power)
