I. OBJECTIVES At the end of 50 minutes lesson in Mathematics, the Grade 1 pupils


should be able to do the following with at least 80% level of
proficiency :

a. Understand how to add two one-digit numbers;


b. Show enjoyment and willingness in participating during math
activities; and
c. Use counters, or pictures correctly to model addition.

Ben has 5 cupcakes in all.


So, how many cupcakes does Ben have in total?
Another example:
Aling Nena bought 6 bananas in the morning. In
the afternoon, she bought 5 more bananas. How
many bananas did Aling Nena buy in all?

Good ! Now what is beaing asked in the


problem ? How many bananas did Aling Nena
buy in all .
How many bananas did Aling Nena buy in the
morning ? Aling Nena bought 6 bananas in the
morning.

And how many bananas did she buy in the


afternoon? In the afternoon, she bought 6
bananas.

So let us count all of the bananas that Aling


Nena bought .
