With the advent of the internet and the digitization of books and information in
today's world, the way we consume information has changed dramatically. The role of a
public library is being questioned as new ways and types of media emerge. The value of a
physical collection inside a specific location vs a quick search at any time within any
environment raises concerns about a public library's long-term viability and resources.
In today's modern world, most individuals prefer to use the internet instead of
visiting to a library when they need information. Perhaps it's because going to a library is
so antiquated. As the proponent points out, much libraries' architecture, as well as
technology, is out of style or out of fashion. As a result, libraries are rarely visited and
utilized.
That is why the proponent wrote the thesis "Naga City Public Library:
Architecture's Influence in Intellectual Awakening" in order to plan and design a
modern public library that incorporates architectural elements, creativity, and technology.
The study was designed with the goal of redesigning a library to give it a more modern
style and feel, as well as establishing a center for social development and research where
Naga city's pride in its archives could be highlighted. A public library is the most
significant place in town for gathering information and learning about a city's history and
culture. In an increasingly digital age, libraries' role as community and cultural hubs is
sometimes overlooked and occasionally criticized. Naga City and other nearby towns in
the Bicol region have produced a large number of writers, painters, book authors, and
historians who have all contributed to the region's culture, custom, and history. What is
currently needed is a gathering space for all of these aspects, as well as a venue for local
writers and artists to display their work.
