Get creative with this fun SVG cutting file project for use with your electronic cutting machine.
This is an exploding box with a sweet little suprise inside! Included in the project are three
sentiments to use with machine compatible drawing or foiling tools to add that personal
touch. All elements can be resized so you can customise it to your needs. Why not use the
embellishments to decorate cards or add that finishing touch to your giftwrapping? You could
even make a giant bee! Have fun with your crafting!
CUTTING LIST
Below are the lists for the number of times you need to cut each file to create the
project. You can get creative and use the embellishment file and/ or sentiment file to
add that personal touch!

USING THE SENTIMENTS
The sentiment file is a selection of single line font sentiments for use with a pen or
foiling tool. it is an optional extra to add that special touch to your project if you choose
to. If you aren’t using this file you can skip to the next page.
STEP 1 Select the desired sentiment and the hexagonal Mat piece on your canvas
and align so the sentiment is centrally placed. Save this file ensuring the
sentiment and cut file are not grouped.
STEP 2 Delete the Top section of the STEP 3 Change the attachment for a
file and with the appropriate cutting tool and reload the file.

MAKING THE BOX
STEP 1 Take one Outer Box Side Mat piece and mat to one of the Outer Box SIde
pieces ensuring they are positioned centrally. Repeat with remaining Mat and
Side pieces. You can decorate both sides with the Mat pieces if desired.
STEP 2 Take one of the completed Outer Box Sides pieces and crease well along
the score line. Glue the tab to one of the edges of the Outer Box Base piece,
ensuring the tab is glued on the under side of the Base piece. Repeat with the
remaining Sides pieces.
MAKING THE BOX
STEP 3 Using the Outer Box Lid piece, crease along the score lines and glue the sides
together using the small tabs. Decorate with Mat pieces as desired.
STEP 4 Using the Inner Box Sides pieces, mat one piece without a tab on top of a
piece with a tab. This gives weight to the sides so they fall nicely when the lid
is removed, you can add additional layers to increase the effect if desired.
MAKING THE BOX
STEP 5 Take one of the completed Inner Box Sides pieces and crease well along
the score line. Glue the tab to one of the edges of the Outer Box Base piece,
ensuring the tab is glued on the under side of the Base piece. Repeat with the
remaining Sides pieces.
STEP 6 Using the Inner Box Lid, crease along the score lines and glue the sides
together using the small tabs. Decorate with Mat pieces as desired.
MAKING THE BOX
STEP 7 To assemble the Bee, begin by taking the largest piece and crease along the
score lines. Glue the inside tabs to the solid shape in the centre of the piece,
then glue the edge tab to the corresponding side. Glue the solid piece to the
remaining tabs at the base to complete the bee ‘body’ shape.
STEP 8 Wrap the two stripe pieces around the bee body and secure at the base with
a little glue on each end. Glue the completed body to the legs piece.
MAKING THE BOX
STEP 9 Shape the wings by gently pushing each side backwards from the centre.
Glue the detailed wing piece at the centre of the solid wing piece, then glue
this to the top centre of the bee body.
STEP 10 Glue the Inner Box section to the centre of the Outer Box section, I
prefer to do this at an angle so the inner and outer sides splay out
alternately as shown in the image below. Glue the completed Bee to the
centre of the Inner Box Base.
Place the lids on the boxes and decorate with embellishments as desired
to finish. Why not get creative with some dfferent crafty effects. Use gilding
flakes beneath the mat to give a subtle golden look!
Making the most of your embellishments!
Cut the leaves in different sizes
and shades to add texture.
Use a yellow pearl embellishment
(or colour a white one using a marker pen)
to make the centre of your flower.
Cut the ‘bee’ shape in black and the ‘stripes’ in yellow to make your bee. Cut
the wings in white and curve upwards to add dimension, gluing at the centre to
secure them to the bee body.
Mix up your embellishments to decorate different elements of the box. You could also
use the embellishments in other projects such as card making or to decorate a gift!
